Anonymous Coward could be posting links to Freep articles instead.
if you go back a couple pages of the main site, http://mgoblog.com/node?page=3 for example, you see that the sound file postings encapsulate existing posts on the site. i hardly believe someone would hack the system and take the time to backdate posts up to and around existing entries.
just a drupal snafu that hopefully will be fixed when Brian does his "Hello: 5 star recruit's name here" post today.
I'm glad someone finally posted something. I thought I was either stoned or missing something and was afraid to mention it at the fear of getting neg banged.
... I thought this was only happening to me (nothing like good old product induced paranoia), who is this masked fiend disrupting the flow of mgoblog?
yea it is getting pretty out of control.
I must have missed it too? Waiting for it...?
Agreed. Especially if the hacker had a motive. This doesn't look like a hacker, a hacker would be more creative... (queue in the Law and order music.)
Seriously though, I do agree.
the only thing more terrifying than a hacker with a sense of humor is a commie hacker with no sense of humor.
I was thinking the same thing. Didn't want to post anything, so I logged out and logged back in to see if I was crazy.
Also, what's with the Yardbarker/Foxsports thing at the top? Was that there yesterday?
Yeah, that's been there for a while.
This is just some random jackhole.
I had to disable the Fox / Yardbarker thing in my browser. Ever since it was added, my pageloads were odd and unpredictable.
i think it's a failure of uploaded material. "Anonymous Coward," if you go back to old mgoboard entries, was an option if an individual didn't want to register. i think these bits were force fed through without an ID (i.e. Tim, Brian, etc.) and the site gave them the anonymous heading.
i can't think of any of our rivals who would be able to do this, must be WLA or zoltan's telekinetic retribution for yesterday's reports of his disappointing skills.
OSU hacking = smash glowing type box with rock
MSU hacking = set computer on fire, throw in street
ND hacking = douse with holy water
Wisconsin would try to process it into cheese
Just lay another charge upon the pile.
Probably won't help. His name doesn't appear on the MGoUsers list. Hack job. I wish hackers were easier to find in person. It would be nice to dong punch this bastard.
with brian on facebook, he always updates his status when something new gets posted on the blog... my facebook status page is filled with updates from brian cook... so they are legit...
I think those status updates are fired off automatically via another application.
Yeah, they still update even when Tim puts up a post.
Those are auto updates. He doesn't actually log in and update. So no, they're not.
not know that... my bad...
I'm pretty sure that's all done via a script.
What a coward, indeed.
As to why they're being posted, I have no idea. Probably just an accident with a feed or something.
It's interesting, because a hacker would try to screw with us all, somehow. Destroy content or change the site to transgender porn or something. Not just make feeds. Odd.
And "Anonymous Coward" is probably just the default for posts from non-users. If anonymous commenting was turned on, I imagine all anonymous comments would come up like that. This isn't a hacker, though.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one, thought I was going crazy when I went to the home page.
The links to the posts are coming through on Brian's Twitter account as well. This is how posts usually show up on Twitter so when I checked it while coming into work, I was pretty confused about what was going on. Whatever is wrong, it appears to be throughout Brian's posting system.
They are just 10 min interval Windows Media player links to WTKA podcasts. I listened to a few and just scanned my computer for any "malicious files" and found none.
It's probably Daulerio "getting back" at Brian for refusing to give him a scoop on the Manny Harris suspension.
73h 5173 h45 833n h4X0|23d!
Looks like Drupal feed aggregator is importing to the wrong content-type.
[adjusts nerd glasses]
Man, I just took a look at your website and I think you probably have the best job in the world. Looks like you do good work, too. Any chance you want to hire an aeronautical engineer who wishes he was an EECS grad?
Thanks for the compliment.
I would love to afford to hire someone ;)
But, I am just a small/single-person operation.
Feel free to fan me on Facebook- I will post items there that may interest you.
We shouldnt have stopped the panic after all
I actually like the change, if only temporary. Every time I go to the home page I see "Don't Panic," and it makes me feel as though I have something to panic about.
Arlight, I have just decided on a very approrpiate slogan as to recent UM althletics events.
"THE 2009-2010 MICHIGAN WOLVERINES - DON'T PANIC!"
just maybe Brian should consider changing his bong water more than twice a decade.
...as the WRATH OF COOK is as damning and absolute a fate to be wished only on the most reprehensible acts of defiance. Yaaarrgh!
Translation: Pirate to 21st Century English:
Dude is sooo screwed.
It's probably just some bot using an exploit in Drupal.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm headed to the fallout shelter.
You're wanted for murder in Vault 101! You have to go out into the wasteland and find your father James!!
MGoHacker vs. technical glitch. What odds is Jamiemac giving on this?
Technical Glitch -300
It wasn't me.
This site was initially built with the capability of anonymous comments. During the initial launch, they never showed up to the general public. Mods can see them, but not the general user. They all show up as Anonymous Coward in stead of just Anonymous because the general feeling in these parts is that if you're going to say something, put a name to it for some semi-accountability, at least as much as the anonymous internet will allow.
As for the posts, Brian was working to incorporate his radio podcasts into his RSS feed. The files are just the audio from WTKA for those of you who didn't look closely at the links.
Problem should be resolved soon.
since I have nothing else at work worth doing. I was almost forced to go home early.
Don't believe the official release--
Conspiracy Theorists Unite!!!
Brian has lost the will to continue the blog. As noted in his tweet from 1/26/10:
It's really hard for me to keep writing and talking about Michigan. Sorry if I've sucked for two months, but motivation is at record low.
He will be announcing his retirement tomorrow. Your initial clue should have been the addition of the VarsityBlue guys. Great shows only add new characters shortly before the end.
There has already been contact by the MGoBlog-VarsityBlue Group to find a replacement. Rumor has it, their leader is Ron Prince, former coach of Kansas State University football. Michigan being the most loved program in America or Canada, Prince is obviously a fan, and he will chomp at the bit to come to MGoBlog and awaken the echoes of MGoBlog.
I shall feel proud and satisfied to have been the first author to enjoy the full fruit of his writings, as I desired, because my only desire has been to make men hate those false, absurd histories in books of chivalry, which thanks to the exploits of my real Don Quixote are even now tottering, and without any doubt will soon tumble to the ground. Farewell. –Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote
Somehow he found out that Layla and Brian C. have been carrying on a torrid online romance, and so he had Coach Orgeron—who is an absolute genius at getting past firewalls and security protocols of the most sophisticated sorts—hack into the site as revenge. Lane is hoping to parlay this into securing Sean Parker as an additional side benefit.
