As usual, some interesting remarks:

If it's a privacy issue...I'm not worried about it. But if it's public knowledge, what happened?

With all of the players I've seen lately complaining about the attention on their phones and on twitter, I feel dirty for reading half of the recruiting stuff I read (which isn't much in comparison to some). I can't help but wonder if it's possible our (some Michigan fans') obsession is getting a bit unhealthy/frantic and driving recruits away that might otherwise go blue.

If Michigans recruiting them it's likely other schools with fanbases just as if not more insane are following them as well. Personally I can't understand following on twitter or face booking but it's the way the world is now. If recruits don't like it, don't get on twitter and don't approve facebook friends. I HATE saying this as I would've hated having this kind of attention on me as a high school senior, but if the dacebooking and twittering bugs recruits they have the ability to mitigate it.

One of my high scool teammates was a high three, low four star DT depending on the scouting service. He set up a MySpace account (this was back before FB) and trolled the shit out of everyone. It was hilarious. Started about by posting questions from our physics exam and asking for help. People from various schools that offered him were tripping over themselves to send in answers and help him out.
He was told to stop by a coach about the time he started talking about gender reassignment surgery and becoming the first ever D-I female player.

The is probably the case. And since OSU is 100 times worse, no wonder they never get any good recruits...

Not trying to start a RR flamewar, but it's interesting how many comments from recruits and recruits' parents that if RR were still here, there's no way they would come here. I wonder if that's just because of his track record here or if it was something more than that.

Sometimes kids say things just because they think it will get a good reaction. At this point RR is a punch line so I don't pay to much attention either way.
From all accounts in the book he was a pretty good guy so it wouldn't seem like he made it a habit of offending recruits, but he may have had a disagreement with RJS or maybe RJS didn't like his personality. It happens all the time and doesn't mean 1 guy or the other was right. It did seem like he went out of his to make a point of it though.

Here is an inconvenient truth.... NONE of them had committable offers to Michigan.... Don't you just love some of the responses why they didnt go to UofM.... as if ANY of them had a committable offer.... I don't even think Burbridge had one.
January 31st, 2012 at 9:29 AM ^
and don't you just love Burbridge
1. failing to mention that he didn't have a committable offer
2. that he is on record saying he is more comfortable with the Michigan coaches.

I like that chip on Drake Johnson's shoulder. I hope he develops well, sees tons of playing time, and walks off the field after every Big Ten win muttering "Take THAT, bitch" to the opposing coach.

comment the very same thing. I think that it may be the best motivator out there. After watching the Brady 6 on ESPN, and how Brady went form 199 to (debatably) the best QB of all time - and even to this day he still feels like he has to prove something. That internal driver is a dangerous thing (for opposing LB's and DB's) if he can really harness his power in college. Should be fun to see how it unfolds. As a life-long Ann Arbor guy, I'm really rooting for Drake to be the surprise of this class.

His "Why not MSU" answer:
It was slow and they showed favoritism. It was boring to me. It was dry. It wasn't alive. At Michigan they were getting all hyped and stuff. At Michigan State they seemed to be going through the motions.
Maybe Dantonio was bored because Funchess wasn't a national recruit?
Favoritism? SUCH ACCUSATIONS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!

I would have to say that my favorite part of that article was seeing 9 "why not MSU" questions in the first 10 interviews.

Evan Winston does not seem to know the difference between "pursued" and "offered."

I wish we would've looked at Dennis Norfleet...those small guys have a place. Hopefully we go after Berkley Edwards for the 2013 class.

...was the quote from Ross:
On another trip south, I won't mention the school, but one coach, he was the linebackers coach, talked as if we (players from northern schools) were inferior. He talked about how slow we were.
If only because I had a conversation with some kid from Louisiana while I was down there for the Sugar Bowl along those lines. He did most of the talking, I did the dumbstruck listening. I think this is a prevailng thought down South.

We better beat Alabama. They're (those who chant "SEC" after and SEC team does anything right) even stupid enough to chant "SEC" as Michigan State is in the process of beating Georgia. This whole "Southern pride" meme as it pertains to college football is drawn out and sickening.
January 31st, 2012 at 1:03 PM ^
You spend 364 days a year violently hating someone, and then for 1 day your root for them because of "Southern Pride"? Is it just because there is no such thing as "Midwestern Pride"? Or are they just trying to still make up for the fact they lost a war to make most of the players their rooting for slaves instead of football players?

I think they're trying to get over their reputation for being lethargic & slow-witted due to their fomer hookworm problem.

Once again Terry has pretty much nothing positive to say about the school hes committed to. I dont have twitter but pretty much everytime I read an article that quotes Richardson the kid rubs me the wrong way, the way he talks makes it surprising to me he is still committed.
