Annual Pre-OSU Gravewalk, Thursday 8PM

Submitted by MaizeSombrero on
In an annual tradition, the Thursday night before the Ohio State game, a group of Michigan faithful walk through the Ann Arbor cemetery, visiting the graves of Fielding Yost, Bo Schembechler, and Bob Ufer. We meet at the Burton Clock Tower on Central Campus at 8pm. Some people bring flowers or candles, or nothing at all. Most people come decked out in Maize and Blue. This is truly a moving experience, and one that I recommend for all who have a chance to attend. It's a solemn reminder of the reason we all love Michigan, and it really gets you in the mindset for the weekend.

I don't think it's a student-only thing based on the e-mail I received about it. A few lines of it: "I know this football season hasn’t gone as planned, but by GOD it is Ohio State week and WE will do our job and we WILL battle. In a tradition that started almost twenty years ago, and earlier for some of us, Michigan’s biggest fans will pay tribute to the legends resting at Forest Hill Cemetery…Yost, Ufer, and Schembechler. In the past in better times, we’ve had a huge crowd with the newspapers, local media, and HBO following us." Interpret that how you will, I don't think it's a student only thing.
