I am just disappointed when inauthentic, lackluster food is called 'great'. Also, Salvatore, you have no idea of anything I've done or anywhere that I've been, and you have no right to insult me on a personal basis for highlighting some of the weakenesses of Ann Arbor's food scene (which apparently makes me racist). I've been to China 5 times, each time in a different province, so I think I have at least a decent idea of what authentic chinese food is. and I've been to many european countries, and really loved the food I had there.

With the culture thing, you are correct, cookie cutter suburban bullshit is technically still culture, but at this point you are just arguing semantics.... The lack of any culture is culture?? (I guess in a way this is an idea that is wholeheartedly American, an idea Andy Warhol would praise). By this same logic, you would support the elimination of CBGBs in the Bowery to make room for a new upscale clothing botique. Gentrification, the same shit, the elimination of the old, distinct, rich culture to make way for the new $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ businesses that have no fucking care in the world but to make money.

Also you're correct, Great Lakes had AMAZING chinese food but 1) that was in Ypsi so it doesn't count, and 2) it's gone now.

I'm surprised Evanston is even listed. I live there and it's fairly devoid of good places to eat. There are maybe three good restaurants (Found is ok) and a lot of chain restaurants. And there's nothing decent right around campus. Even the places that have been touted as the newest food lover's kind of restaurants aren't that great. If we want good food, we go to Chicago. Isn't that usually the case? If you want good food or authentic food or haute cuisine or some niche-y new kind of restaurant like korean tacos or donuts made with pistachios from some remote region in Sicily, you go to a city.

The thing I like about Ann Arbor is that I think there is an appreciation for good food there, and there are people in the business who are interested in bringing good food to Ann Arbor.

I can say with certainty that the places they list are good, but none are even in a realistic top 10 of places to eat in Bloomington. And that is coming from a guy who absolutely loves Mother Bears Pizza. I just don't think this list honestly does justice to all the different places in different college towns.
