Andy Moeller, Browns OL Coach, suspended indefinitely.

Apparently they are calling this a serious allegations. Hopefully this isn't as bad as it sounds like it might be. If Wikipedia is correct, he had had 3 alcohol related arrests in 4 years at one point but had apparently the last issue was in 2010.

The team's statement:

“Andy was involved in an incident, involving allegations that we take very seriously. We have followed our internal protocol, determining that right now it is best for the team and for Andy to take time away from the organization to focus on his personal matters. We are going to respect the process of investigation on this personal matter and will have no further comment at this time.”

that dictates what action the team takes in these kinds of situtations.  I doubt their policy mandates or even allows someone to be fired at the first sign of trouble.

Does make me wonder, though, whether he had this kind of problem when we was here, and who knew about it if he did.  Probably quite a few people.

Might not be directly a DUI but there's a good chance it's indirectly related to alcohol. As a recovering alcoholic for the past 8 years myself I feel for the guy and can say some of my "bottoms" weren't directly booze related but it was certainly the root cause. Hopefully he gets the help he needs so he can keep his life together.

Thanks but I don't really consider it a "fight". It's more like a "surrender". And for me at least, the first few months were the hardest. After that it was just more about character building and working steps rather than white knuckling away from booze. I've had zero desire to drink since about May of 2007. At any rate, I hope Moeller can put it all together. Lots of very intelligent and hard working people get afflicted by alcoholism, but the good news is alcoholism is pretty garden variety as far as diseases go. If you ask me it's much better than getting some rare generic condition or something. Tens of millions have it and hundreds of thousands have found relief from it. It's a lot like diabetes. Entirely manageable if you do the right things in your life to address it regularly, but entirely lethal if you don't. Good luck to him.

. . . Reporting Andy Moeller being investigated for an alleged assault.

"‏Berea cops were called to the Moeller home at 9pm Saturday in response to a "domestic issue" ~ per Phil Trexler (WKYC)

@AaronWilson_NFL ~ Sources say Andy Moeller alleged domestic incident involves (the) Browns assistant and his wife (a woman at his home)

BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns offensive line coach Andy Moeller is being investigated for allegedly assaulting a female guest at his home, sources familiar with the situation told ESPN Browns reporter Pat McManamon on Monday.

A woman called Berea police over the weekend, alleging Moeller had assaulted her, the sources said. The woman was a guest of Moeller's from Maryland.

By the time police arrived, the woman was unsure about pressing charges. However, police were required to file a report, which was presented to the city prosecutor. He will determine if charges will be filed. Because the alleged assault was not with a live-in partner or spouse, it is classified as assault and not domestic assault. Moeller was not arrested.

Berea police would not release information and referred all questions to Public Information Officer Lt. Joseph Hedinger, who would be in the office "at 7 a.m. (Tuesday) morning." The police officer who answered the phone said she could provide no information or details

Left tackle Joe Thomas said Moeller was in the building Monday morning. "He (Moeller) just told us he was dealing with some personal things and might be gone for a while," Thomas said. "That's all we heard."

believed it was only a matter of time before he came here. I thought he'd be the sure fire replacement should Drevno want to start his own tree, Jay not work out or Jedd moved on. I actually thought they'd find a way to get him while building the staff. This changes a lot (if there were anything to change).

I'd be very surprised if alcohol wasn't involved, though.

IIRC, Gary made some wild threats to the LEOs who arrested him back in '95, and I believe it was the booze talking. Alcohol makes some people nuts when they drink too much, and I'd bet that there's a genetic predisposition that way.

Permanent sobriety is the only course for those in that situation.

Ray Farmer, Johnny's elbow, Terence West's attitude and the fact we've blown about10 straight #1 draft choices arent our biggest problems tonight?

Got it.

Bring on the Jets - I think we're ready.
