And you thought you already had enough reasons to hate Penn State (Re: Sandusky)
A PSU Trustee named Albert Lord said the following about the victims of Sandusky: "Running out of sympathy for 35 yr old, so-called victims with 7 digit net worth," Lord said in an email sent on Saturday. "Do not understand why they were so prominent in trial".
To his credit, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees said: "Al Lord’s comments are personal and do not represent the opinions of the board or the university".
Even beyond how stupid his comment is on how the victims have been made whole by some money, this jackass suggests that their testimony wasn't needed in a trial about them being assaulted.
People on the blog didn't really need more reason to hate Penn State, but Al Lord added one more reason. Football won't make up for what happened, but there is something satisfying about PSU being embarassed on the football field (hopefully it'll happen again this year).
Al Lord, Fuck Penn State, Fuck Jerry Sandusky, Fuck JoePa, Fuck the whole god damn culture that allowed numerous kids to be hurt and abused.
When he announced his candidacy for the PSU Board of Trustees in 2014 he called the Freeh Report a work of sinister fiction. Fuck Al Lord.
Of course that's what he looks like.
Confession: I'm a white male. Why is it that every time something horrendously insensitive and completely unaware is stated that I automatically assume it was uttered by an AL Lord proxy?
It's not too difficult to stumble through life with every single advantage given to you on a silver platter and just not say stupid shit. That's your only job. Just stop saying dumb shit all the time.
Also, nice shirt Mr. Lord. Fuuuuuuuuck you.

As a white male born and raised literally surrounded by white males like this guy, he is a classic example of: "I was born on third base, with a pretty good lead-off. Through limited work and virtually no independent ingenuity, I made it home. Therefore, I am the smartest, strongest, most competent person on Earth, and the "the poors" need to fall in line behind me, because I am better than them..."

At the risk of being too overtly political, there's an amazing story in the Washington Post today by one of the editors of the Observer, the newspaper that Jared Kushner formerly owned. She recounts that she inherited Kushner's computer, a Mac desktop, and was shocked to find that it was running a Windows OS. Upon inquiring with the IT guy, she found out that Kushner liked Apple's design features but had only ever familiarized himself with Windows OS. So, as she recounts, she inherited a $2,500 monitor.

Sounds about right.
Every working environment has that guy (or woman) who uses all the flashy catch phrases, seems mildly intelligent for a very brief moment in the honeymoon period then when it comes to the showdown completely fails under the weight of knowing nothing about how to actually do the job. Its a sad shame that unfortunately most of them are now working in the executive branch of the US government.

This white males have it easy stuff has to stop. So racist. the vast majority of white males don't achieve any particular large amount of wealth.
I don't think anyway said or even implied, "All white men end up wealthy." And in fact, we are talking about the opposite of "achievement." We are talking about people born into privilege. While those people come from all races, for sure, they are overwhelmingly white males, at least in America. These comments are much more about class than race, though the two intersect in America, in case you haven't noticed... ;-)
That is all true, but all white males seem to take a bad wrap for a very few. Like you said, its a class thing and not a race thing. So why make it a race thing ?
Nice spray on tan. Bet he has pec implants too.
everytime there is a story about "The Man."

Fuck MSU and their enabling culture that allowed young girls to be molested for years by ignoring claims agains Nassar.
Just as sick of a situation.
7 digit net worth - zero digit self-worth for probably much of their lives. Fuck you Al Lord!
Yes I'm sure those folks would gladly trade their money to have their childhood back.
What is the going rate for sound mental health these days?
Agreed, not one single penny will make what happened go away or get better. Not everything is measured in money.
#WeAren't
To bad al lord was not sandusky'ed!!!
BTW, FUCK penn state and all their delusional joepa loving fans and al lord!!!
Funny. I too have lost patience. I've lost patience with these aging boomer alumni from this school that just can't stand to bear the thought that their dead gym teacher wasn't the hero the public relations machine made him out to be.
The Football Gods will not be pleased by this development.
Yet again, we see an example of the cult of personality surrounding a rightfully disgraced man who has now been dead for about five years. What an unbelievably insensitive thing to say.
If he honestly doesn't understand why the victims should testify at a trial for the person that abused them, that says a lot of Al Lord and none of it is good.
The longer this story plays out, the more I think that Penn State didn't have a high bar when it came to academics. Some of their trustees are beyond dense.
has at least a nine figure worth, he looks down on those with only seven firgures.
Here's and interesting quote:
Congressional lawmakers chided Lord in 2007 when he sold $18.3 million of company stock days before President George W. Bush proposed a subsidy cut. A Sallie Mae spokesman at the time called the sale's timing "completely coincidental."
Skimming dollars off the tops of many student loans which were predatory in nature. How "noble." (rolls eyes)
If that were one of us we would still be in jail.

Lord was an enormously scummy CEO and has been a scummy public citizen. When he was CEO of Sallie Mae, they systematically:
1. overcharged student lenders and were notorious for tacking on unjustified late fees. The company later (after Lord left with a hefty retirement package that allowed him to build his own personal golf course) was forced to pay back over $300 million to student lenders.
2. offered kickbacks to college financial aid officers to make Sallie Mae, rather than the DoE's direct loan provider, the official campus student loan provider, a provider with higher rates and more punitive repayment issues. He, of course, locates the entirety of blame for the student debt crisis on government, colleges, and individual borrowers.
3. He's also been, since 2015, at the center of a federal corruption probe related to an illegal campaign loan in the Philadelphia mayor's race that was repaid using charitable contributions.

So glad they were able to move on after winning that Big Ten Championship Game.
We knew how they treated visiting fans (below). Now we truly know how they treat victims of unspeakable crime.
They deserve the death penalty. Like it's slimy that they have pushed the rape aside and even attack people who bring it up. If anything those victims deserve reperations from the profits off the football team. I still think the football program deserve the death penalty.
that the NCAA was falling all over themselves to scale back their penalty almost as soon as it was imposed.
Makes it easier to understand how Sandusky was able to get away with it for so long doesn't it.

TING!
You hit the nail on the head.
Can you imagine the courage it took to come forth with rape accusations against this kind of embedded regime?
You had to figure that nobody was going to believe you and that it would be suicide for any kind of future you worked for.
....with Jerry at Jerry's new house would disabuse Al of that mindset.
Sadly, Jerry would have no interest in an Al sleepover.
... how easy it is for ridiculously rich people in positions of significant power to perceive themselves as victims. Sword of Damocles, I suppose.
One of my favorite pictures, ever. Perfect in any discussion of PSU. +1, sir, for good taste!
Fuck whomever negged this!
The way those lineman are walking off the field like not one of them give a shit about the QB and that non of them should be held culpable,
I know in sports you can get beat by your opponent and I'm sure that Branch did that quite often. But you can still feel bad about getting your QB trucked and see if he's ok. Maybe help him up I would have made those guys run the stadium stairs if I were coach.
what is wrong with those people?
Cultists.
Than the destructioin of the lives of many innocent kids who did nothing to deserve the violation of their innocence.
It's all about winning to these motherfuckers who don't give a shit about anything that gets in the way of their objectives. But what if it was their kid?
Let's beat the crap out of PSU this year just as in the past.
I still have a problem with them being the B1G champion.
Penn State may as well be in SEC country.
I claim the moral high ground.
Indubitably, let me pontificate to the masses just how morally outraged I may be.
/but seriously, agreed.
...it raises the interesting point that we empower survivors of child abuse to seek compensation in the form of money, but money (at the risk of stating the obvious) can't make someone whole when they've suffered something like that. I've worked with survivors of childhood sex abuse, and there is no amount of money that heals their wounds. That said, making a place like PSU give money to sex abuse survivors is the best we can do. Also, fuck PSU.
This rumination has been brought to you by the good people at The Internet. The Internet - you're on it right now!
with the whole bunch of JoePa apologists at Ped St!
How the fuck can this trustee open his mouth and spew such shit?! I hope there are still enough caring, decent people in the State of Pennsylvania to take action and toss this fuckwad out on his ear.
Soooo...millionaires who have been raped don't deserve justice or a voice?
Why aren't you reserving all your posts for negs on WD? Seriously, I thought you only said negative things.
/checks post
Ok. Nevermind. You're still good.
First time poster here. After reading this article and having authentic concern over these comments I reached out to Lord, expressing cordially my concern for this continues lack of contrition displayed by people at PSU....He responded quickly with this message a short time ago.
Me Mitchell,
Thank you for your refreshingly civil comments. Especially today. I do notice your reference to "Penn State victims"and your acceptance of a well seasoned but false narrative. There were victims of course, even on our campus but they were Sandusky victims and he is behind bars.
Again I do thank you for the civility and your suggestion. I am contemplating a response.

He continued on:
"We in no way accept responsibility for not notifying authorities upon discovery that Sandusky was using our football facilities as the candy for his creeper van, and our showers as his rape room. Further, we disclaim all liability for his continued use of our facilities for the exact same purposes under the guise of his so-called charity upon his entirely voluntary and not at all suspicious retirement announcement. Sincerely, A. Lord, a-hole."
