Allstate ad in Big House

Submitted by DGlenn26 on

I searched and couldn't find anyone posting about this. But I'm sorry if it's already been posted.

When I was going through the media day photos I noticed that we will now have an Allstate ad in the nets behind goal posts (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mgoblog/9491803872/).

To me it's not that bothersome, but does show how Dave Brandon wants to take a slimmer and slimmer definition of the "no ads in the Big House" rule.

When DB first started throwing his weight around, I predicted that he would eventually make the Big House "look like the world's largest minor league baseball park."  I really want to be wrong here, but it isn't looking too good.

But before you blow your allowance at AAT&P, you should know that the nets are left over from the Spring Game, and from my understanding will be replaced before the 31st.

I would bet that BiSB and the other are right who've said these are just spring game/kid's day event nets and won't be seen on game day.

Now when it comes to a mascot, I'll predict right now that we'll have one on the concourses outside the stadium itself within three years. And I won't have much of a problem with it, unless it's horribly stupid looking.

...it WILL be horribly stupid looking.  That is the very definition of your typical acrylic fur collegiate mascot.  I am guaranteeing it for you.  The day that Michigan has a mascot, it will absolutely, positively be stupid looking.

And within 3-5 years, there will be the first mascot scandal, in which the mascot is busted for DUI, or punches someone, or is punched by someone, or loses bladder control, or is humped by the scrawny Northwestern cat mascot, or has a past membership in Hizbollah, or is caught on an ESPN camera fondling a dead girl or a live boy...

Every time I see those Allstate nets on TV, I think about the nets at Michigan Stadium having a BIG BLOCK M!  That would be great motivation for our kicker, and give the opposing kicker nightmares when getting ready to kick he sees the "M" going up behind the goal posts.

where I use MGOBLOG to keep up with recruiting news..team news...and then to close out the session, I try to identify threads where people will bitch about the most ridiculous things possible...WHOLY SHIT they are putting logos on the nets that are up for fifteen seconds...SCREW the season...screw Dave Brandon... the day this is the most aggonizing thing in my life...I'm pretty sure I'm dead . Thanks for the laughs fellas...sad that uniformz threads are now threatened by a 'ban'...gonna have to find something new to bitch about.

First we have ads in the field goal nets, next it's the scoreboards, shortly thereafter, the helmets get chromed; followed by the ushers all wearing Curly Fry costumes, and then the terrorists win.  It's as clear as day, don't you see?  WHY DON'T YOU SEE IT?!  WHY?!!!

Oh, the nets are going back to no ads for the regular season?  Nevermind.

Have we concluded that the nets were from the spring game and will be taken down?   I recall the twitter hashtags, special advertising for the Big Chill, etc.  I trust we'll be fine, for now.
