Jibreel Black is up to 276 c/o @kmeinke
All Updated Height/Weights ***ANOTHER UPDATE***
is at 308......nice
Roh up to 278 c/o @kmeinke
His goal was to get to 325 before camp started, so he didn't quite get there. He said he played to AA bowl at like 360.
If he really played that game at 360 and chased down Diggs in the flat at that weight, HOLY SHIT! How can his legs move that quick carrying that much weight, it honestly defies the laws of physics.
it didn't seem like he was just headed downfield and ended up in the right spot - he pursued the ball. In fact, he looked like he had done it before and had plans to do it again. IMO, not the approach of a guy who isn't used to running more than 2 yards.
With a good diet and training staff, there is no telling what his ceiling might be if he can handle the rest of the responsibilities that come with being a player.
I remember watching a video of that right after it happened and now I can't find it. Anybody know where to look or can post that link?
I'll see if I can figure out where it is is no one posts it before I get to it.
watch the 3 plays right after the 2 minute mark to see PeeWee's wheels.
Can you imagine what it's like being tackled by that guy? Yeesh.
360 pounds of mass times the acceleration he gets (which is pretty darn good for that size) = a shit ton of force (if my calculations are correct).
Acceleration to get up to speed =/= a in that equation.
Change in momentum is a much better way to analyze the interaction.
The extent of my physics knowledge comes from HS physics class, meaning that I can remember a couple random formulas. Actually figuring out what they mean and how to use them, not anything I could do.
I still think his equation nets the correct result = shit ton of pain.
Gunner Kiel is gonna have Pip in his face a lot over the next few years.
If that's mostly good weight, then I really hope so.
Nobody under 7 foot can carry 337 pounds of "good weight."
I feel bad for his heart.
Well, if he played that well in the UA bowl at that size, I think he may be OK. He's pretty athletic...time will tell.
He played in the Army game.
Good catch - my fault.
I have a class with Pip. Just my opinion, he looks great for his size. I honestly thought he was 320. Take it for what it's worth.
Mr Kalis will be 330 by his sophomore yr..
I hope not. That would not be all good weight.
Thats two years in a college weight program? For someone as motivated and talented as him it wouldnt be suprising to see him by 315-330.
As a point of comparison, Jake Long is 6'7" and 319. Kalis is 2" shorter. 330 might be a bit much.
I doubt it.
I sure hope pipkens doesn't struggle with weight problems...
He's down from about 360 at the Army AA Bowl, and he still carried his weight pretty well there. I'm not too worried about him.
He'll be fine.
their negative nancy! I have taken it upon myself to struggle with a weight problem for him. I'm chubby.
I love me some 6'6" 282 lb Tight End action. Pause
I think AJ Williams will end up being a tackle. Most kids get bigger in college and by coming in at 282 I can't see him maintaining that weight. I'll bet that he gets to 300 and makes the switch because who has ever heard of a 6'6" 300 lbs Tight End?
Big OL, Williams at TE, Houma in the backfield, and Shallman running the ball. Try to line up against that and stop them.
That would be a powerful unit. Shallman is one of the more interesting recruits. I wonder where he will end up.
I'll admit to not knowing much about S&C programs, but aren't they supposed to help players get ready for the positions the staff wants them to play? Most kids come in needing to get bigger. Will Campbell didn't and he's smaller today. The staff may want a 300lb TE. If not, then I don't expect to see Williams bulking up.
Jon Jansen played TE in HS but he was recruited to play OL here.
I'm definitely a college football fan when I find it entirely socially acceptable to get this excited over reading a list of a hundred college guys' heights and weights.
Darboh at 218? I hope that's good weight, almost +30 from his recruiting profile.
Taller than Hemmingway and leaner. Indeed good weight. Hope he contributes early.
Well Sam Webb reported that Darboh tested at a 4.5 fourty at 218 a few weeks ago, and that 218 turned out to be correct, so maybe the 4.5 is correct as well. I which case, that weight probably isn't all bad. However he is coming off a shoulder surgery, so I'm sure he'll have to re-shape a bit.
Damn, AJ Williams is a truck. I hope that dude hasn't lost a step.
To be honest with you, he looks massive. Massive and intimidating. But unfortunately, I wouldn't say that all of that mass is necessarily good mass. Although, I only gathered this from passing by him on north u. But if he still has his speed, god help the defensive ends he will be going against.
This year he needs to be able to block with enough technique to keep a DE occupied or help Lewan/Schofield destroy an offensive tackle. Beyond that, if he can catch well enough that the coaches have confidence going to him on a limited basis, he can pick up first downs on 3rd and 6 type situations. Maybe a potential big gainer if the D totally ignores his receiving threat. Anything more would be beyond bonus.
So he is going to be the Charles Woodson of d-lineman?
from his current position of TE, and then the coaches decide to give him snaps at TE, then yes. He will be the the Charles Woodson of d-lineman. For now he's probably just the 2nd string tight end.
amazing how much some these kids develop from freshman to senior year. Roh is a prime example of that. I hope to see him in beast mode all season long!! Go Blue!
OL Blake Bars, 6-5, 282
LB Joe Bolden, 6-2, 224
OL Ben Braden, 6-6, 299
WR Jehu Chesson, 6-3, 183
DB Jeremy Clark, 6-4, 191
WR Amara Darboh, 6-2, 218
TE Devin Funchess, 6-5, 225
DB Allen Gant, 6-2, 196
DT Matt Godin, 6-6, 270
DT Willie Henry, 6-2, 302
FB Sione Houma, 6-0, 221
LB Royce Jenkins-Stone, 6-2, 206
RB Drake Johnson, 6-0, 203
OL Kyle Kalis, 6-5, 292
OL Erik Magnuson, 6-6, 290
RB Dennis Norfleet, 5-7, 170
DE Mario Ojemudia, 6-3, 223
DT Ondre Pipkins, 6-3, 337
DB Terry Richardson, 5-9, 154
LB Kaleb Ringer, 6-0, 230
LB James Ross, 6-0, 225
DE Tom Strobel, 6-6, 250
TE A.J. Williams, 6-6, 282
DB Jarrod Wilson, 6-2, 195
DE Chris Wormley, 6-4, 268
To all doctors out there: can we just slice off pieces of Pipkins and Williams and attach them to Ojemudia and Richardson?
Can it be done?! Do we have the technology?!
Ben Braden appears to have lost about 15 or 20 lbs. Looks like he's been working hard to get some playing time this season. Also, Mario listed as a DE at 223 lbs is crazy to me. I know everyone expected him to redshirt but he has at least 2 years to go before he can reasonably see the field at DE. He's 40 lbs away from an ideal playing weight at WDE... maybe he ends up at SAM?
Ojemudia's going to have a tough time in coverage if he plays SAM. I think they'll just groom him for WDE.
Wasn't Frank Clark at like 230-235 last year?
damn - I forgot how awesome this class is!
Suprised to see Willie Henry at 302.
Me too. According to his rivals page he was 6-2 270. I just wonder how much of that is good weight.
I knew TRich was light but 154? Holy toledo....Hello Redshirt! I too hope that Darboh is lean...Figure once camp starts, some of these guys will lose a few pounds too. I think Kalis at 320 in a couple of years is ideal.
Suprised to see Wormley only listed at 6'4". He has been listed at 6'6" - 6'7" at different times.
BURYING linebackers, Martell Webb 2.0
Are Roh and Black aiming for 290 or are they supposed to be done adding weight by now?
Roh and Black each wanted to hit 280.
RJS (206) and Ross (225) seem to have reversed in what we had initially thought. Ojemudia at 223 is still very light for a DE, but a little better than the low 2's we've heard he might be at.
Wormley and Strobel seem to have enough weight to possibly contribute given their lofty ratings.
Both TE's seem to be about 20 pounds heavier than what we last heard with Funchess at a respectable 225, might be able to contribute.
I would say Wormley is a little more likely to contribute. But who knows, both of them may rotate in and out this year.
RJS is just begging for a redshirt coming in at that weight. Not a bad thing, though.
Oh yeah, shut that running game down.
Some of these guys will drop some weight during camp. I expect Darboh to end up about 210 and Pippins to get down to 330 before Alabama. RJS better find the weight they lose if he wants to play this year
He's not going to play meaningful time this year
That scares me in both good and bad ways.
Clark at 6-4 and 191 seems silly-skinny to me, but I guess we'll see how these kids look after camp. Kallis feels like he's got 20-30 pounds to add pretty easily.
Damn PeeWee's dropped over 20 pounds, that's good to see once they start practicing I think he'll hit his goal
Rawls seems to have lost 15 pounds. Might be a bit more explosive in his running.
Edit: nevermind, it looks like he was listed at 219 last on mgoblue
Also down 15 pounds from last year.
IIRC he was 248 last year.
That's what he's listed in HTTV
Yeah, I was gonna check my copy...then remembered I still haven't gotten it.
Goodbye redshirt talk, hello 5+ sack production from this uninformed poster. Plenty of size to get on the field in passing situations. His speed and moves are going to be a significant change from Beyer/Ryan, and I think he'll run by a few Tackles who haven't adjusted.
Seems telling, yes? I hope not - we need all the d-line depth we can get...
I don't see him playing this year, if ever at UM.
No Cam Gordon either, or Ricardo Miller. I think some of these are trickling in - they obvisouly aren't updating everyone at once. It may be telling, but it's not like he's the only one not on the list. And if Cam Gordon and Ricardo Miller are also off the team, then we should be shooting for more than 25 in this class.
EDIT: No Paskorz either.
FYI, on the Rivals list that they posted, Cam Gordon is listed at 6'3 235 and Frank Clark IS listed, and its at 6'2 260. However, Paskorz and Ricardo Miller aren't listed.
The updated measurements on Clark are telling - if he was off the team, I don't think he'd be showing up to weigh-ins. This is by no means conclusive, but it's a good sign. Him being 260 is also a good sign.
The fact that Paskorz and Miller are both missing is a little weird. Did the TEs weigh-in last or something? Is Eddins on the list? A guy like Paskorz wouldn't be a huge surprise if he moved on, but Miller would, if for no other reason than his passion for the school. We'll see I guess.
Didn't 25 + 3 EE come last year? 25 is the limit for this year, i believe. Can't back date anyone because last year was full.
Check Rivals, we didn't have a 28 man class last year. If the total number allowed, we could take 28 this year if 3 guys EE, which we have.
He was listed as 215 on three sites and 228 on 24/7. Obviously a lot of these are self-reported, but 206 is way lower than anyone would have thought. He was pegged as a possible SAM, but he's 40 pounds away from sniffing PT at the SAM. That's a 20% increase in body weight!
Royce is lighter than I would have expected
Ross is heavier
Mario has to redshirt and pack on some weight - he's not a speedster so you wouldn't waiste a year on special teams (he's fast, just not fast...)
Rawls seems to be at a great weight, seems like we'll have a bunch guys from 210 to 230 for several years to come
Godin is a little lighter than expected. I think he'll get a redshirt and get up to 285'ish next year. His trainer should have been all over this.
Bolden looks like he'll play his last few seasons in the 230's which will be great
Beyer up to 250 ! Excellent
Good to see him up to 252, decent size for a WDE. With Ojemudia at just 223 I wonder if this means that Ryan will go to WDE whenever Beyer needs a breather, and Cam Gordon will play a lot at SLB.
If Clark is really off the team, I would guess either Strobel will be the back-up WDE or Ojemudia comes in during obvious passing situations. He's small, but he's a guy who will always be the "undersized but doesn't play like it" guy. Dude has a motor that won't stop, and at 215 was a terrorizing DT in high school. He'll be OK.
I don't think Jake Ryan plays WDE at all unless Cam Gordon proves to be a very good back-up. Remember, in our nickel package, the SDE comes off and the SAM plays DE in his spot, so Ryan will already be playing DE on clear passing downs, but on the other side. And he'll need to get a break some time too.
My guess is Beyer is asked to get in really good shape, and might not get too many breathers. But all it takes is for Ojemudia or Strobel to look good enough to be a back up and we're fine. Hopefully our D will be good enough to get teams off the field quickly and our O can march the ball enough to give our D enough rest.
Jack Miller: 6-4, 287
So i guess Frank Clark is off team..
Kenny Wilkins: 6-3, 290
Up 12 lbs from last year, him at 242 with his blitzing ablility is just scary.
Any reason why?
Anyone else think - outside of Norfleet and Richardson - that this class is HUGE? I mean that literally, not figuratively, although the converse is true as well.
little man, but I think he will be a secret weapon some day, sneaking in, out and under these ogres at the speed of light.
Sugar bowl winning roster not big ten enough for you?
"Winning the Sugar Bowl" was enough, but our roster still needed some beef, especially since our 3 biggest defenders from that team are gonzo.
We have one.
Also, OP might want to check his spelling of "Blake" Countess.
Icefins26 is obviously a racist...! Good catch there - off to Bolivian for him.
I copied/pasted! Do not blame me!
hahahahaha @ "Black Countess"
somebody throw up the "that's racist" gif
Darboh and RJS are both 6'2". Guess which one is 206 and which is 218.
Now try again.
How heavy was Lewan last year?
6'7" 303 lbs
Thanks for enabling my laziness.
anything to keep me from doing what I need to
Having tried to push him down (ha! I'm 5'4") at the Women's Football Academy, I can tell you he's thick but not at all fat. Every ounce of flesh on his body is useful.
Hilarious! I even looked back at what I wrote to make sure there wasn't anything that you boys could, um, misinterpret.
edit: sorry for the double post. On second thought, maybe the double post is warranted here.
Hilarious! I even looked back at what I wrote to make sure there wasn't anything that you boys could, um, misinterpret.
that's what she said?
T. Richarson at 154. I think the football weighs more than him. I wonder if AJ can loan a few pounds to him?
only 6-2 206--scouting sites had him at 215lbs. I'm 6-2 210 and I'm no MLB, although I'm a 33 year old man and have years of drinking on my side. His body fat % is probably way lower than mine.
By listed position, the freshmen in the OP average out as follows (height and weight):
WR: 6-3, 201 lbs
TE: 6-3, 254 lbs.
RB: 6-0, 187 lbs.
OL: 6-6, 291 lbs.
LB: 6-1, 221 lbs.
DT: 6-4, 303 lbs.
DE: 6-3, 247 lbs.
DB: 6-2, 184 lbs.
FB (easy, since it's only Houma): 6-0, 221 lbs.
I would say that these aren't bad at any position when it comes to general size.
Our front seven last year:
288 - 304 - 295 - 269
230 - 248 - 220
This year (so far):
278 - 308 - 276 - 252 (260 if/when Clark plays)
242 - 242 - 230
A little lighter up front (but more beef in the two deep) with the LB looking a little more stout and a lot deeper.
Fall camp should ad another couple pounds.
I see Jake Ryan becoming a DE either by the end of the year or next
Good to see Bryant down to 320.
Yes it is. Down from 341 on spring roster
|58||Chris Bryant||OL||6-4||341||RS FR|
Me likey some freshmen DBs up over 6 feet tall. I like the mix of sizes UM is recruiting nowadays in the defensive backfield.
Pipkins is a monster. He's gonna be fun to watch. The AA game vid was the first film of him I'd seen, and I'm loving that motor.
