All the LOIs are in
Those predisposed to unnecessary panic can now ease up a bit. It looks as if the only unknown at this point is Mr. Diamond.
EDIT: The Kozan rumors are still in the speculation stage, so I guess he is out there as well. I had thought that the rumor was debunked, but apparently it has some legs. Although, who knows...?

what you're really saying is that they're NOT all in?
/s
(i know what you really meant - that the LOI's of the previously known commits are in - just had to be a wisenheimer)
February 1st, 2012 at 1:11 PM ^
Still waiting on his LOI correct??
Smily face.

I was not worried though. These coaches did a great job of keeping this class under wraps.
February 1st, 2012 at 12:48 PM ^
at least the 25 that we know of are
February 1st, 2012 at 12:51 PM ^
25, even 26 is slightly disappointing even though that's an incredible feat.
It's just that 1 month ago we were all wondering how we were going to get 32 prospects down to 28...now we're kind of trying to figure out what happened.
Nonetheless, after I hear Coach Hoke speak about all these guys at 2pm, I'll be over it and ready for TEAM 133!

Who knew that "incredible" was synonymous with "disappointing."
February 1st, 2012 at 1:20 PM ^
Not synonymous, but not mutually exclusive either. Before the season putting together a class like this one would have been hard to believe, thus making it "incredible." Following the chatter last week, however, it appeared fairly likely that the class would end up being even more spectacular, leaving Mr. Yost "disappointed."
In general, though, I will agree that bitching about a top 5 class is pretty ridiculous.

People always get too carried away and assume every kid interested in Michigan will commit. In reality, we get - what? - one commitment for every 3-4 offers we hand out? Recruiting's a numbers game. The biggest thing is to just get on as many kids' lists as possible.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:25 PM ^
It's a good point, but I think the actually commitment to offer ratio is actually quite a bit lower than that. IIRC, UM sent out approximately 200 offers this year, meaning a class of 25 would be closer to a 1/8 success rate.
February 1st, 2012 at 2:00 PM ^
I was thinking just of the kids that showed some interest in us. If you throw in the ones who aren't interested at all, 1/8 sounds about right.

Any news on Kozan or is that done as well?
Also Dan Gibbs, anyone know if he is a confirmed walk-on?
February 1st, 2012 at 12:52 PM ^
There is not that much info on either of them. Last I heard was that Dan Gibbs was deciding if he should come here or go to an ivy league school. Honestly I wouldn't be shocked if he went there, but we will say. Kozan is a wait and see game.

Anything from here on out is gravy on the mashed potatoes. Time to relax. And eat some mashed potatoes.
February 1st, 2012 at 12:56 PM ^
There's no time for mashed potatoes on a day like today! I'll get grave all over my F5 key!
February 1st, 2012 at 1:01 PM ^
we fill the full allotment of 28. banking 3 schollies would be akin to a self-imposed penalty.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:04 PM ^
Not so fast my friend. Banking schollies isn't necessarily a bad thing, and nothing like being penalized. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if we take the full 28 we'd only have 18 or so scholarships next year. Attrition would obviously give us a few more, but how much is there going to be?
February 1st, 2012 at 1:40 PM ^
that's kind of my point. there always is some. now, i'm not advocating throwing a schollie to anyone, but legit 3* guys with potential wouldn't be a bad idea, especially on the Oline, imo.
February 1st, 2012 at 2:09 PM ^
If they're legit 3 star kids them that's fine. But don't fill the class up for the sake of filling the class. There's still time. LOI's technically don't have to be signed till April 1st.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:06 PM ^
This actually takes care of two recurring topics on this site.
February 1st, 2012 at 12:54 PM ^
Diamond will be a great way to close out a great class of incoming kids.
Is there a disadvantage or advantage to signing after NSD? Just curious why a few recruits choose to do so.
February 1st, 2012 at 12:57 PM ^
presumed advantage: all eyes on you
February 1st, 2012 at 12:57 PM ^
Only big name guys can get away with it, usually. Otherwise, their school of choice may fill the class without them.
February 1st, 2012 at 12:58 PM ^
Some do it to get all of the attention on them, i.e. Terrelle Pryor. Some are legitimately torn and need the extra time.
February 1st, 2012 at 12:59 PM ^
It's all in how the cards fall. If you really like a school and they are not full, why not wait? It never hurts to be last to act, unless you get shut out. If you are talented enough you have a little more leeway, but it is not a science.

LOL
"MSU is coming off an 11-2 season and a share of the Big Ten championship. That should allow the Spartans to be very selective about whom they offer. U-M is in a rebuilding stage and new coach Brady Hoke is being aggressive and stirring early interest." - Matt Dorsey, Spartanmag.com

so LOL!

Along the same lines, how about Duane Long essentially saying that Kalis would flip to Ohio at some point. No link, just a memory....

Do I have to go to class, now?
February 1st, 2012 at 1:05 PM ^
Anyone know anything about this kid? Was it a good steal from Cincy?
February 1st, 2012 at 1:07 PM ^
Literally the 2nd post on the front page is a breakdown of Dennis Norfleet.
February 1st, 2012 at 1:07 PM ^
if only there were some sort of front page post about his potential, measureable, etc. that you could refer to....alas...
February 1st, 2012 at 1:10 PM ^
You're welcome. /s
February 1st, 2012 at 1:17 PM ^
Well he's like Darren Sproles...but faster
February 1st, 2012 at 1:20 PM ^
....I wouldnt quite one-up a schooler to Sproles yet.... Sproles I always said was the closest thing I've seen to Barry since Barry. I said the closest, but still a mile away. Sproles is a total stud. If he is in fact faster than Sproles, than my apologies... but it is more than fair to limit it to saying "Norfleet is similar to Sproles".

I'm guessing you haven't heard Fred Jackson talk about new players before....

Any word on Demar Dorseys LOI, or how it may impact Gardner's redshirt?
February 1st, 2012 at 2:44 PM ^
makes me hope that Grandville High School, Rockford's biggest rival and school I graduated from last year, will start getting good again and have someone go to a big school like Michigan.
Cant wait to see everyone on the field next season!
