a national championship would sure keep me warm at night

Why must you live up so brilliantly to our stereotype of the... um... "elevated" expectations of Notre Dame football fans?

It's nice to hear that you are wishing for a Michigan National Championship. With comments like that you are welcome here anytime.

My lumps of coal came with lighter fluid. I was shaking my fist up the chimney when Santa threw down a fiery matchstick.

I'd take a NCAA bid or a bowl game at this point..
December 10th, 2009 at 1:35 AM ^
less than a month ago, and we're essentially out of the tourney. 4-4, with losses against Kansas and UConn extremely likely, you've basically got to go 12-6 in conference minimum.
I'm gonna label that unlikely. Trey Ziegler, please help us...

We could really use some fresh talent to come in. It seems like our bench has no depth at all. Eso Akunne played last night, and while he didn't look too bad, thats not a good sign. BTW, whats the word on Ziegler? We need some guys that can make some shots to come in. Hurry up Smotrycz.

I think our best chance at making the NCAA tourney now is to win the Big ten tournament.

Another year for BG would be a nice gift under the tree
December 10th, 2009 at 9:38 AM ^
We should give the NFL a present. BG has given us enough. He deserves to receive some benefits in the NFL.
December 10th, 2009 at 11:07 AM ^
Doesn't BG have a year of basketball eligibility left?
I think they call that the reverse-Paulus.

All I want for Christmas is a playoff for the National Championship.

A job, and sporting competitiveness.
Not too much to ask, no? Oh wait, yes it is.
December 10th, 2009 at 6:48 AM ^
You're about to graduate. I have two words for your upcoming (or ongoing) job search:
GRAD SCHOOL!
Shit, just stay in school until you're about 40. Which goes into my next bit of advice, which can be summed up in four words:
Avoid marriage and kids like the plague.

Donovan Warren to stay for his senior season.

All I want is for either the basketball team or football team get it together. Too late for football this year, but I'm not giving up completely on basketball yet. All I want is for the Football team to make a bowl game next season.
December 10th, 2009 at 8:39 AM ^
I would believe this is our punishment for taking for granted that we were always good and always went to a bowl. Honestly, I remember the time (4 years ago if that ) that if Michigan lost 2 games I was disappionted that year. Let this be a lesson to all of us Michigan fans to never take a winning season or a bowl game for granted again.

Or...
On the 12th Day of Christmas,
The Ghost of Fielding Yost gave to me:
12 decades of 10 consecutive National Championships per decade (that's 120 glass footballs)
11 Big Ten Titles for each of those decades (hey, let Rich figure it out)
10 consecutive 94-0 victories against the Buckeyes
9 years with the same defensive coordinator
8 Slot Ninjas from Pahokee that grew up catching rabbits
7 linebackers that, well, stay
#6 to never ever leave and stay eligible forever
Every 5-Star Recruit ever ranked by every recruiting service (yes, even ESPN)
4 more tiers of premium seating on the Big House
3 total paying advertisers for the Detroit Free Press
2 more primarily-defensive Heisman trophy winners
...and a wide-out that deserves to wear #1!
