To All The Doom and Gloomers!

Submitted by Sten Carlson on

I apologize for arguing with you.

I am sure this thread will be deleted, but I am standing before you as a Michigan Man and saying I was WRONG!  I don't give a fuck about the depth chart, the issues from the previous regime, nor the excuses that Hoke & Co. have trotted out!

Bloomington, et. at., all those who I debated so passionately, again, I apologize.

I am done with Hoke.  If he's kept on by whomever the AD might be, it's a shame.  The team is a tire fire, and the way they handled the Morris situation after he got hit the way he did was appauling and should get him fired TONIGHT!

I am almost at a complete loss.  I don't know if there has ever been a moment that has saddened me more in my 35+ years as a Michigan Man.

Again, I was wrong,  you were right.

It's time for some SERIOUS changes in Ann Arbor.

Sad, so sad.

I was so glum & down by this incredible state of awfulness in every way, but I couldn't stop laughing at that penguin not looking cuff his bud in the head into the frozen drink. HILARIOUS!! I can smile with my kids again. It IS just a game after all.

But put me with the crew that used to defend but cannot any longer another coaching staff.

Can't be. Not after the way he handled Morris. He doesn't have the "nice guy" excuse anymore.

No question this game should've been the last straw, at the end of the season...he should've been fired.

But then the Morris situation happened and he's got to go, NOW. I will be embarassed if/when I wake up and he's still the coach.

He's a joke and a fraud. Either that or he's a complete moron who has no idea about what is going on. Either way, it's dangerous.

You simply don't allow what he allowed to happen, end of discussion, period. There is literally NO excuse.

I hope the media latches on to this and ends Hoke, NOW.

If he puts Gardner in at the start of the 4th (even though he should've put him in after halftime), when Morris was first hurt...I'm okay with that and if someone still wants to defend him, whatever. He still had all of the qualities that made everyone like him in the beginning.

But now? Not a chance. He needs to go.

Im with the OP and some of the other threads i was completely DISGUSTED by how they handled Shane getting hit and targeted, then limping and barely being able to keep his eyes open..

Hoke is full of fucking garbage if he says he cares about the kids.. Hoke needs to be fired mid week without question for the shane incident alone

The monied ones cirlcled the wagons.  Minnsesota lobbed the grenade directly into center.  The rest was history.

I was pretty sure Hoke needed to go (90% after ND, 99% after Utah) but I tried not to be too open about because I wanted to wait until the end of the season and was hoping we could hold together and support the team until then at least.

Now, whatever. The guy isn't the right guy. Wish it weren't so and the transition still scares me, but what we have right now is untenable. We couldn't even catch a bus back to tenable right now.

I suppose I should just stop defending Michigan coaches as they always let me down.

I defended Carr over at SackCarr.com when it came out -- then, The Horror and he was not longer defensable.  Then, I defended RR -- he needed more time, he was left with a bare cupboard, then we were manhandled by a middling Miss. St. team and it was obvious he too had become indefensable.  Now, I've defended Hoke, over and over, hoping things would turn around, trying (desperately) to see behind the scenes to identify the causes -- then ND, Utah, and now Minn.  It's one thing to lose a hard fought game in which the last team with the ball wins.  Minn. is getting better, and played well, but Michigan looked completely lost, devoid of any leadership or direction, and I cannot take that any more.

I hope they fired him tonight, as much as it pains me to say that, he's incompetent at best, and at worse, he's a menace to the players that he professes to love so much.  I never thought I would see this day.

I feel like I've lost a family member -- amazing the emotions this stupid game brings out in me.

RR inherited a smoking crater. The team improved every year. In 2011 he would have finally had a 2nd year starter at QB. The team that went 11-2 was RR's team.

It was easy to defend RR at the time and the ensuing disaster - the team regressing every single year under Hoke - makes the defense easier and obviously correct. That conclusion is reinforced by the success he has already found at Arizona, coaching in a much tougher conference.

I'm with you. I've been one of his staunchest supporters. But I don't know now. I feel like I wasted a beautiful Saturday inside watching a train wreck when I could've been spending time with my kids outside. This sucks.

A lot of the things that will likely go tonight do not fall above the snowflake bar, but moments of honesty like this from fans are things that I think should stand because there is a growing disillusionment - only made worse by this game - and I think there need to be moments like this left for public view. I will freely admit to conceding a fair number of threads this evening and sticking to things which overlap because of obvious reasons, but yours is a good thread, I think, Sten.

It's not your fault. This coaching staff's got a lot of explaining to do not that they'll say anything of substance. I was at that game with friends and somebody told us Morris is hurt. Can't believe Hoke sent him back in. He should be fired summarily.

I agree with the general sentiment of the OP.

I think, however, that the Morris thing is way overstated.  He had a bad ankle.  Guys play on that.  It didn't seem like he was concussed.  I would have taken him out earlier, but I don't think it's a fireable offense.

But, keep your eye on the real thing.  This team is soft.  They're mental midgets.  I wonder if the diarist of a few weeks ago is right, and what this team needs is to be mentally torn down in order to actually be tough.  They are getting worse.  Special teams are terrible.  The only thing I can point to that doesn't scream terrible coaching is that they don't take too many penalties.

Yeah, you know he's toast when I'm done.

I thought Hoke's hiring was questionable, but he won me over with the "This is Michigan, fergodsakes" speech. Then we went 11-2, and I thought we had our own Tressel. But after years of steadily declining returns, and now arriving at the point of having no hope of beating any team with a pulse--getting blown out by the likes of Utah and Minnesota--complaints of Hoke doubters I thought petty I can now see as serious problems. That he spends the entire game engaged in "cheerleader-in-chief" clapping and butt-slapping. The refusal to wear a headset. The non-answer/platitude/drivel press conferences. When we see a team that never makes adjustments, that always looks slow in every facet of the game--mentally and physically--a team that alway looks undisciplined, that never shows any fight or heart, that can never dominate the l.o.s. on either side of the ball no matter how weak the opponent, how can he not seem completely clueless? Today was the last straw--not taking Morris out when he'd clearly busted his ankle, and as a result taking that shot to the chin, then sending him BACK OUT rather than calling a t/o...just disgusting. As a poster on another thread said, it is coaching malpractice. I hope he's gone at the earliest possible occasion.

The Shisz should come down to the stadium and fire them both.  I didn't even no tat Michigan had never lost 3 games in Sept., No streak safe, the 100k+ is over as of next Saturday.

Best decision I havemade in 10 years was giving up my season tickets after last season.  I don't regret it for a second.

Somehow, Sam Webb will find a way to spin this in a good way for Brady, he never says anything negative about the current head coach.  No one can defend him with a straight face, but SW will try on the radio.  It's hopeless

I feel like many of the apologists owe us realist...well, an apology. Cough- Turd Ferguson- Cough. There were many many signs that the program was in trouble and that Hoke was not the Guy. Same with Brandon. That is not being a hater, but a realist.
