Hmm this thread is kinda quiet for getting the QB of the future. I'm thinking if he had a star or two more there would be about 130 more Post of grown men, playing slap the bologna on their smart phones. Well I'm not that kinda man or fan... But pretty happy for the kid. Seen him play numerous of times. And if there is 15 QB's in the country better than him. This must be the best QB class of all time. Dude is for real.. Hate making comparison's of 17 year old kids. But I'm going to use Fred Jackson's logic.. Just imagine Drew Brees but a inch or two taller and a better arm.

Before I'd ever seen him play I looked at him as a kid we'd likely pass up and based on our general "backup plan but decent player" reputation he'd go to msu and we'd hate him with his no flash but effective play. I then had the chance to see him play twice with one being on TV in the HS title game. So, I got the direct view and the (IMO) very important TV view if his play. I'm not saying I wouldn't have wanted one of the major Cali kids but Alex is VERY MUCH a top QB prospect. We didn't take him for lack of options or to keep him away from a rival as much as we need a QB and the kid is as good or (at the least) one of the best left out there. We missed on guys we'd rather have had, no doubt. Yet, Alex is a kid I'd want no part of paying against in college. Not to toot my horn but I can scout QBs, CBs & LBs with pretty scary accuracy. Give me just 20mins of actual game footage (competition level doesn't matter) and I'm usually right on target in predicting their college ceiling/floor, star/bust, hype/legit, etc. Malzone is, IMO, the 5th best QB I've seen play in this class. I've seen him more than the others (just the others highlights) but you can see decision making, accuracy, timing, arm, does he lock in on guys at the snap, etc and I think he's a solid 2-3 year starter for a team that can redshirt him. Unless loaded, I'd want to wait until he was a RS-So before starting him just for general gym time, team comfort and fine tuning. After that, if you have an average OL, HB & guys to haul in passes this kid will win games. Very solid QB. No doubt. Very glad to have him as there is no way there are 15+ pocket QBs that are better (at least of those that have been on the radar/scene as the draft always proves that some guys just aren't found in the recruiting cycle). Of those known and before he even threw for Nuss, I could only find 4 I'd take over him and only 2 are in California (dun dun duuuuu FYI for ya).

when I watched him in the State title game last fall. He has a great release and makes reads better than most I've seen at that age. He is smart and cool in the pocket. He is only going to get better so I'm excited to have him.
