Lester vs Sanchez on the hump. Eat 'em Up, Tigers!
Peppers at 10, which seems low.
In my seats now! Eat Em Up!
I wish you could post a pic from the phone app.
Take notes, whoever handles the phone app
Lucky dog, eat em up!
I really want a win for torii, great guy
Anyone have a link to a decent stream?
Fox has some sort of strange obsession with the Boston beard thing.
Wings - Avs tonight too, for those interested
I expect to be annoyed by Patrick Roy, even though that rivalry is dead and the Wings are in the east.
Let's go Tigers
Does anyone have an online stream please?
One half an inning down with no damage, let's see what we can do with the revamped line up!
Good first inning for Sanchez. Detroit starters are amazing!
Let's see Miggy steal another base.
Let's just watch him ignore the stop sign from the third base coach and watch him F*CK the first inning up
I chose the first link on the drop down menu
EDIT: Not sure how to post link
Damn, thought that was outta here coming off his bat.
Close, close, close.
what was Miggy thinking?
EDIT: that appears to have been on Brookens.
Brookens what were you thinking there, my friend?
Sweet jesus Brookens.
Umm don't do that again
Of course you wave around the guy with absolutely no mobility.
They are getting to Lester and that's good, but what a waste of a potentially big inning.
Fire Brookens! Wait, wrong thread.
Well that was no good
what did Brookens see??
Why did they send him!? Out by a mile and reinjured his hip
I have not said 'Why' so much in a long time, like when I was 5, to my parents chagrin.
Maybe I shouldn't have been so hard on Gene Lamont, this play was far worse than waving Prince home in the World Series.
Thanks for the replay Joe Buck, we saw it in slowmo the first time.
Hah. You win the internets, sir.
Cabrera ran through Brookens' stop sign. That's not on the coaches.
Cabby should've went with a good ol' drop kick to the Solar plex.
That was a bomb. Jesus
Cabby needs to be DH. Jeebus, the poor guy can't move at all.
Cabrera just got a big mark on him. Clearly injured.
Martinez having to catch, you can't take Victor out of the lineup.
Sanchez needs to settle this inning quickly. It feels like it could get out of hand.
Ugh. Hope Miggy didn't aggravate something there. And why didn't he stop? And how did he let that ball through?
Better get Porcello up. We can't let this get too far out of hand.
In 1 1/3 innings. It'll be another 20 pitches before this inning is over!
Sanchez is looking shaky...
Really could of used your A game tonight Sanchez.
sorry to say but its over...Tigers will never score enough to win
About time you showed up considering we're losing now.
writing off the team?
I'd rather call you out on your ridiculous schtick.
hysterics over a loss to PSU is not? And what about my post was particularly ridiculous? This game DOES look like a mirror image of last night.
You know you're the resident Detroit sports meltdown machine. Just own it.
Come on, pay attention and put on a shirt. You are grossing out the neighbors.
Just because some people are acting like 7 year old cry babies doesn't mean that you should too.
My original statement in this thread is an observation. That you interpret as "crying" is how you choose to perceive it. But this games does--at least to this point--looks like a mirror image of the other night.
I can't help how you choose to perceive something.
Wow, speaking of 'hitting' up that was quite a collision Avila just took. That was a big out!
Don't even compare this one to Cabrera's hit on Ross, Buck... Ross just completely tackled Avila... Cabrera came in with minimal speed, too.
Nothing malicious about it though, he didnt lead with spikes or aim at the head. Solid all around play, I can't fault Ross for trying to cause Avila to drop the ball.
time to strike back Tigers, ROOOAAAAR!!!
The tigers swing at so many bad pitches. It's so frustrating
Two runners left in scoring position. This needs to change.
They are atleast working this pitcher. His pitch count is as high as Sanchez.
Unreal catch by Iglesias. That was awesome.
Agreed. Terrific play.
Lock him up with a long term deal... DD found some huge potential in this guy.
Sanchez needs to come out.
Yeah... This is frustrating... We need to score as well. Obviously
He does not look confident on the mound. That last pitch before the out was brutal.
Forget about the bats... Sanchez is getting rocked.
Yeah he's either hanging everything or throwing them straight in the dirt.
2 of Sanchez's 3 starts in the playoffs have been stinkers. Big letdown.
just doesn't have his good stuff tonight. You can see it in his face.
Going to need to string together some hits and get back in this one and hope the bullpen can do its job and hold them to 4.
the f*** out of there before things get worse. he's way off his game tonight. Not good.
catching the breaks tonight the Tigers got last night.
to acknowledge the fox track when it doesn't match the stupid little schtick they are spewing. like, they wait for it to see if it supports what they're saying, but if it doesn't, they awkwardly pause, and then keep spewing bs.
I am surprised catchers haven't starting wearing mouth guards with all of the new info on concussions.
It's over. The tigers aren't a come from behind team. They need to get the first scores and a lot of them.
It's looking more and more like we're going to have to win back to back in Boston. Can't say that fills me with confidence - particularly with our hitting struggles - but at least we'll have Scherzer and Verlander going.
It's certainly not an ideal situation but Scherzer and Verlander are more than capable of carrying this team to a WS.
You got that right. And that's what I'm hoping for barring a comeback tonight. Which would be nice.
And then there is the issue of relief pitching. Benoit is awful. He already blew a four run lead.
Verlander and Scherzer can only do so much.
Save for Benoit and Sanchez tonight the pitching staff has been championship quality. The issue is with the hitters. They simply are not doing their job.
At this point it is hit or go home.
We still have 5 at bats. Geez.
Our track record isn't comforting for taking advantage of those 5 chances. I'd be happy to be wrong, though.
leggo. someone hold his jock. come on tigers rally around this shit or something. huzza
Maybe Torii should start hitting 8th
/maybe not kidding.
Ha! Exactly! Or maybe not.
WOO A RUN
Well we're on the board.
How many fucking times can Prince swing at the first pitch and ground out?
Prince is worthless right now.. How much did the Tigers pay him to hit weak grounders in the playoffs?? He his pooping his pants out there.
1,000,000,000,000,000. Or so it feels like.
Two possibly three more times
Worked for AJ
Is there any way to void Fielder's contract? Maybe plant some steroids in his locker and say he violated the contract or something? Anything?
Prince Fielder is a fat, overpaid piece of shit! Fucking scrub.
Into his competitive eating mindset. Must be his plan for the offseason.
or does the ump make it look like he can't see the pitch when it's outside
His strike zone is all over the damn place
Prince has been the last out of an inning 5 of his last 7 at bats. No RBI in 64 straight at bats in the post season.
But he had 100 RBIs during the season. He's awesome! /s
Lester is about to be taken out, hopefully we can get a run out of him before he does
Hey Tigers, let's score or some shit.
Prince's body language is horrible. He looks as if he's just trying to get it over with. He seems depressed. No excitement whatsoever.
It makes you wonder how much his divorce is fucking with him.
Probably more than many here are willing to admit.
While this may sound terrible, he's still paid to do his job. People making far less money go to work and put aside personal issues all the time to get their job done.
You don't have 50k booing you when you screw up. Also most work doesn't take as much precision concentration as does hitting a baseball.
I mean more money doesn't make it any easier.
I don't get why people are shocked l, prince has sucked in the playoffs since his Brewer days.
If they turn Pena around to his better hitting side then they're idiots, he's so much better as a lefty.
Agreed. He's going to burn them.
Tying run at the plate. It worked for Boston in game 2. How about a first pitch tying home run from Pena? Yeah, not exactly Big Papi, I know, but it's his one shining moment time!
Whoo! Tigers scored or some shit! More, please.
You like ending sentences with "some shit". I like that
Shitty damn ending to the inning
Agreed, but we're back in the game.
we're inching closer...
Damn, that was amazing! Pedroia did what every second baseman routinely does to make a double play, but he's on Boston, so it was so fucking incredible. Thanks, Joe Buck.
How many times can out guys hit into inning-ending DPs?
Victorino looks like a serial killer.
I think we have to tie it up in this bottom half. My hunch for the night.
Uehara might get called on for a multiple out save so you're correct this inning might be the most critical of all to get runs before he comes in.
Sorry if discussed already, but if the Cardinals win tomorrow night then the Tigers game Saturday is primetime, correct? And if the Dodgers win, it'll be late afternoon....?
So hoping the Cards win if that would be true.
Yes. And yes
McCarver just earned a Captain Obvious sticker.
Here we go now, ralllllllllly!!!!!
SCORE, DAMN YOU!
That MVP chant sounded awesome.
Meh!! Only happy if we get another here. That sucked
Hitting double plays in the worst times
That stupid extra run the Sox got on the wild pitch. Guh. That's the difference right now.
Or the runs we gave up when Miggy was thrown out sort of near the plate. Or his error that extended Sanchez's bad inning.
I'm not surprised.
Is that 4 rally killing DPs? Or 5?
Well, he didn't ground out on the first pitch.
Why doesn't that brat google how to get a real haircut instead. frickin hipster douche.
lol. Not an Apple commercial.
Hey I am a hipster and I am different.....just like all of my friends.
It's not an apple commercial. It's a nexus commercial. And I'm pretty sure that exact post was in the game 3 thread. And it wasn't very funny then either.
Benoit had a better ERA by a run and half. People acting like Benoit isn't a good closer because of one game really annoy me. He had a 2.00 ERA, and was 24/26 in saves, get some perspective people.
I swear some Tiger fans are way too cynical, constantly bitching about something.
He's had a bit of a base on balls problem in his career, he's been better this year but he's prone to walks and gopher balls. I think he even blew a save to the Tigers early in the year.
Everyone start clenching just a bit tighter
Maybe should have moved him instead of jacKson
Maybe we'll see him move for game 6. Crossing my fingers
I like this Iglesias kid.
Iggy is having a nice game defensively.
I would like to see Jhonny or Vmart bat cleanup. Prince has just done nothing with it.
Uehara for a 5 out save....eat em up.
not good. Guy is almost unhittable. Guess anything is possible though.
Is this Lt. Uhura guy good or something? McCarver seems excited.
Need 1 baserunner for Miguel to get a chance to hit in the 9th.
Shit, you're correct.
Things looking pretty bleak
Their closer is worth every penny and then some. One more inning boys, lets crack him
Things not looking good, Iglesias walk off home run?!?!?!?!?!
Give me a fucking break. Didn't go my ass.
And this one's over.
If prince knew how to throw, he was there. I blame prince
Nice throw prince. Fuck you.
Wow. 2 huge fuck ups by the umps this inning.
GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY UMP! Wow, these umps are just handing the game to Boston.
1. Pena didn't hustle
2. Prince's throw was terrible
3. Ump was teabagging the damn base
Why do we intentionally walk there just to let them have two runners in scoring position? Serious..
Don't think that's on Fielder, Pena is running full sprint when Fielder let that go. He risks throwing it into the dugout if he puts it on the bag and Pena doesn't get there.
would have had him? That sucked a fairly big egg, right there.
Let's go boys!!
Damn guy is unhittable...just like a closer should be
one of a kind this season, no closer has been as good as him. Little digs at a guy(Benoit) based on a historically great season from the opposing closer are silly, when he had a 2.00 ERA himself. If Uehura is the standard, no other closer was truely lights out this year.
Torii Hunter walk off?????
Iglesias needs to lean in on some of these pitches.
Christ I hate sports
They simply can't hit that closer. The End.
Need the game of Max and then JV lives. Lets just hope it's enough still
Fudge, time to lean on the Cy Young's. Heck of a baseball game though.
Ball 4 as well.
someone needs to be canned for this tire fire of a lineup. This is effing pathetic baserunning and hitting. Leyland needs to bench Prince. I don't care if it harms his ego. screw that. Prince is $27M hole in the lineup.
3 runs in a playoff game isn't a bad game, you're only going up against the best pitchers this time if year. Obviously losing a game 1-0 is disgusting but a 4-3 game is playoff baseball at its epitome.
Totally agree. If we get 3 each in games 6 and 7, with Scherzer and Verlander going, I like our chances.
And put in Don Kelly? There are no good options right now. Prince will stay in the lineup. Probably should take him out of the 3 spot though.
a rhesus monkey could hit better than prince right now.
I think there will be multiple changes this off-season if we don't win it all. Leyland may be one of them but other questions loom such as left field, do you re-sign Infante and/or Peralta who are free agents, and can we get Scherzer signed long term before he hits the free agent market after 2014???
I'm not so great on the inner workings of baseball but I know Scherzer is arbitration eligible after this year (I think). Also Boras doesn't let his players sign deals before theirs are up so he can drive up the price in free agency.
I don't think Leyland needs to go unless he shows a willingness to get rid of some of his staff. Lloyd McClennden cannot fix problems in hitters.
Tigers better bring their big boy pants to Boston. They should have won this series by now and instead, they are on the brink of elimination. That said, Scherzer/Bucholz and Verlander/Lackey are HUGE advantages to Detroit so they need to actually take advantage of them!
serious. Maybe move him in the order I could see, but benching him is crazy talk. He might break out of it at some point, even if it is just one two or three run home run. Now I know why I avoid Tiger threads on here.
I would put in Joe Blow out of the stands over Prince right now. Hell the only thing prince is good for at the moment is stealing nachos from fans.
Sucking in the playoffs is Prince's MO.
one at any point. A better chance of that happening than Don Kelly doing anything.
That's really the only thing going for him right now is the potential to "run into one"
Because he isn't doing anything positive out there.
a guy who has averaged 30+ home runs in his career is as likely to put a good swing on the ball, as you and Kate Upton. Of course, you are the same guy who was wondering why a guy with 3.50 ERA wasn't closing over a guy with a 2.00 ERA.
And here is the newsflash for people, other than V-Mart everybody is struggling in this series, not just Prince. Are you going to bench everybody?
can stop making nonsensical posts any time. Instead of doing that you could actually try to counter my points. Also pot meet kettle, I am not the one suggesting I know better than the Tigers about who should be closing and who should be in the lineup.
Cabrera running into an out, the DP's hit into and Sanchez's wild pitch were more costly than anything Prince did, focusing on only Fielder makes no sense.
so could Joe Blow from the stands
Erin Andrews left ESPN to do 60 second interviews after playoff games?
She has other studio duties for Fox if I'm not mistaken. ESPN is a blackhole of awful. Just listen to Dan Patrick talk about his time there.
I'm done being mad... I'm just sad right now.
I blame Prince Fielder for everything. I fucking hate that fat overpaid piece of shit.
Hold on, hold on right there. Didn't you get the memo? We can't make fun of someone anymore because of their girth.
Girth is more commonly used to refer to a different area of the body buddy. It'd be dumb to make fun of him for being well endowed. The problem isn't so much that you're not allowed but that the board expects a higher level of discourse.
that wild pitch that cost them a run? Did he hit into every single one of those double plays? Did he run through a stop sign at 3rd to prematurely end an inning? Prince deserves blame for not playing well, but to put all the blame on him when it is team game is absurd. The lineup as whole (with the exception of V-Mart) is having issues against good pitching in this series, it is not just him.
Also could you try criticizing his play rather than resorting to personal insults. It really isn't that hard.
How Michigan man of you
Koji's having an amazing series, but it looked to me like that last picture was high and maybe inside. Wish Iglesias had let it go by.
Still would have required us to hit him anyways which clearly we cannot
Running out of time Tigers...these huge contracts are gonna hit eventually.
He's an 'easier' out, Prince isn't getting the pitches he was seeing all summer. Its as simple as that.
It's oversimplifying things to say "everyone's struggling" He's paid to be one of the two big boppers in this lineup and really hasn't performed up to par all season.
Peralta and VMart have been pretty decent and we all agree Miggy is hurt (and still hitting better than Prince.) Fielder has been a zero, and along with the attitude it all adds up to a little bit of well deserved scorn.
I've got concerns going forward. He has seven years to go and this could wind up as one of the worst contracts in baseball. Anybody got Magic's number handy? I got a great deal for him.
The problem with his performance is his attitude. Here's his quote: "If they pitch a mistake, I'll hit it. If they don't, I won't." Another gem is "if anyone [fans] has a suggestion, I'm all ears. I'm just trying to hit the ball hard."
So you're basically paying a guy 23 million dollars to wait for a mistake. Come on man, I call BS on that. It's the post season. Every pitcher is good. He could at least attempt to grind out an at bat.
His attitude carries over into plate discipline. He's been the last out of an inning 8 times this series. And has swung at the first pitch in 6 of the last 7 at bats. The guy looks like he has checked out at this point. His 3 pitch strikeout in game 4 was the most worthless at bat I've witnessed in a long time, especially when he could have redeemed himself. It also doesn't help Cabrera knowing the guy behind him isn't likely to get the job done.
