If they sell this game out, it will justify the high prices.  David Brandon is all about maximizing revenue; that is how he got to his positions at Val-Pak and Domino's.  It doesn't bode well for local fans.  I can easily see him raising the prices at the Big House as high as he can until one or two games no longer sell out.

After all, if he can raise prices and therefore revenue by another 50 percent without losing fannies in the seats, he would be a fool not to, at least according to conventional business "wisdom."

tickets were a commodity last year and thus prices went up.  other searches showed that lsu sold 37k tickets themselves so that was huge and as was indicated above that eventually $50 standing room tickets were later sold.

so i'm not sure if it's better to wait like it would have been for the bowl game or if waiting in this case may end up costing you more.

I'm guessing we'll be ranked in the top 10 next year pre-season.  Prolly around 4-6 if I was to guess.  Bama, win or lose on Monday, will prolly be in the top 1-3.  So....if we win (sorry....WHEN we win) I can absolutely see us capturing the #1 ranking in the country the following week.  Wouldn't that be something?

Optimistic maybe, but not unlikely.  We are going to end up in a group of teams with WV, VaTech, MSU, Georgia, Clemson, FSU, South Carolina, and Arkansas who will be ranked in the 8-16 range.  I think you could make an arguement for us over at least half those teams so a pre-season ranking in the 12 range is probably the most likely outcome.  Doesn't matter much anyways, with our schedule if we end the season near the top ten I will be thrilled.

We went through the current rankings and picked out teams that will be ranked ahead of us next year. We only counted 4 for sure (before Montee Ball said he was coming back), so we said top 5 was possible but unlikely. A lot of teams are losing quarterbacks, lots of players, etc. and we lose very few compared to thos teams. I'd say Top 10 is probably pretty likely. The hype machine has already been going for 133 with people talking about Denard getting a Heisman next year. Then when you take into account that ESPN and Jerry Jones will probably be lobbying for Michigan to get into the top 5 for ratings, I think there is a small chance that Michigan gets in above a mess of other great-but-not-elite teams.

I respectfully disagree.  I think we'll be ranked much higher than any of you imagine going into next year and will have a chance to jump quickly with a win in Dallas.  Remember, CollegeFootballNews.com, crazy or not, picked us to play LSU in the national championship game next year.

We're going to finish this year ranked 8-10 and the hype machine hasn't even started yet.  Wait n see.....we're at 12 now in the Coaches Poll and we're going to move past VTech, Wisconsin, Loser of game tonight and maybe Stanford although I doubt it.  That puts us at 8 or 9 ending the year and no way do we drop back from there in the pre-season polls.

That's basically what I just said.

The teams that I think will for sure be ranked ahead of us are LSU, Bama, and Oregon. Teams probably ranked ahead of us are USC, and Oklahaoma. Possibly ranked ahead of us would be Arkansas, SoCar, Baylor (If RG3 returns), KSU, Wisconsin, and Clemson. I really doubt any of those except Wisconsin or the SEC teams will be ranked ahead of us. So, I'm guessing in the 4-9 range. I really don't see how we start lower than 10 next year.

If we would have played Alabama in the Sugar, tickets would have been sky high. If you don't understand the difference between a top ten Alabama vs Michigan matchup and a top 20 Michigan vs VT matchup then I don't what to say. These tickets, I can promise will not go below face value. We will sell all of our tickets and Alabama will sell all of theirs. I personally had a couple friends go to the Sugar Bowl but know of many that plan on going to yhis game. This game will resemble UTL ticket demand.

It's a 20 hour drive from Ann Arbor to Dallas and a 10 hour drive from Tuscaloosa to Dallas. The Sugar Bowl was not sold out and has 3,500 fewer seats than Cowboy Stadium and that's not including the standing sections.

Ticket demand for UTL was high because it was the first night game at Michigan Stadium and because it was in Ann Arbor. You are not going to get 40,000-55,000 people to drive/fly down to Dallas, and I'd be surprised if you could get that many people away from Tuscaloosa. FWIW, only 87,000 people showed up for the Oregon-LSU game. That probably means that there were a good number of people standing and some seats still open.

Probably more than U-M.  There ARE a lot of Michigan alums/fans in the DFW area however.  But, I'd have to agree that the stadium probably won't be filled at those ticket prices.  If they dropped the price, maybe.  Either way, I'm going.

I hope most have the attitude to wait it out and I will get better seats through Michigan.  I also went to Sugar Bowl.  I will rethink buying through Michigan in future bowl games.  Bowl games in general leave very little time to make travel plans after games announced.  As a result airfare is quite a high and people don't go.  Less demand, lower ticket prices.

However for this game, I expect demand to be much higher.  Bama will not have problem selling their allotment like VT did.  Flying to DFW will be cheaper than paying last minute prices around the holiday season.  Travel costs will be more affordable for this game.

Another Sugar Bowl ticket issue was that in order for many people to buy National Championship tickets they had to purchase a package that included tickets to the Sugar Bowl.  These people, many of whom are from Louisiana and have talked to me about this, bought the package and sold their Sugar Bowl tickets for whatever they could get.  This had a lot to do with the dirt cheap prices.

Ridiculous. Season ticket holders should get to purchase this game at normal season ticket prices as part of our season renewal since we're being robbed of a home game. I would love to go, but I won't pay that price. If tix are available on Stub Hub for a lesser price nearer game time, I'm there.  Otherwise, TV it is.

I totally agree.  I can see the positives - the players will love it, it is a big game that highlights Michigan's elite status, etc.  But, from the prespective of a 20 year plus season ticket holder, it is hard to not see this as losing a precious home game.  If Brandon had offered it to ticket holders at the normal premium game price, I would have less of a problem with it.  The price just adds insult to injury and shows the utter lack of value that Bradon places in anyone who is not the highest bidder.
