Alabama game ticket info
25K allotted to UM

Victors Club & season ticket holders will get an email either next Friday or the following Monday
Look for something on the MGoBlue Website by Jan 16
This will be treated like a bowl game, so they are going by victors Club priority points
We can thank Ryan at the ticket office for this info......Go Blue!
I really hope I can get some tickets to this game for a reasonable price. Ugh, why does the offseason have to be so long?
Stubhub is your friend.
Anyone with season ticket holder or Victors Club status want to help a commoner alumni out? I want tickets but I want good ones. Already have my flight booked.
On second thought, there will probably be a ton left, right? Will being last in line even matter?
Wow. Tickets starting at $125 seems a little steep to me. It's worse than a fucking bowl game!
If they sell this game out, it will justify the high prices. David Brandon is all about maximizing revenue; that is how he got to his positions at Val-Pak and Domino's. It doesn't bode well for local fans. I can easily see him raising the prices at the Big House as high as he can until one or two games no longer sell out.
After all, if he can raise prices and therefore revenue by another 50 percent without losing fannies in the seats, he would be a fool not to, at least according to conventional business "wisdom."
Does anyone know the deal Brandon brokered with Jerry Jones? Do we pocket a certain percentage of the gate or get the UM ticket sales? I'm assuming a game in the Big House would be more lucrative, so is this to increase the profile of the team? Increase our strength of schedule? Dumb move by Brandon?
Dear Mr. Brandon,
What did I ever do to you? I'll be here if you need me again.
I remember reading somewhere that Brandon said playing the game in Dallas was more profitable than a home game. It has to be becasue we all know how much Brandon LOVES home games, and will never sign on for a home and home with anybody
The deal was something like this: M and Alabama make, say, $4.5m for a home game. Jerry Jones offered a flat fee of $5m for each to show up. These numbers are completely made up, but I'm pretty sure that's the story.
and the game being played in a 100,000 seat neutral stadium Im going to bet its a good idea to wait and get tickets from a third party. Im not making the Sugar Bowl ticket mistake again.
We lucked out and got tickets right on the 50, but yea, I'm not paying $125 for the tickets. I have family and friends in the Dallas area, so my wife suggested we go to Dallas over the summer before she realized the Bama game was in Dallas. So, I might just go to Dallas for a visit and try to find tickets there before the game if they don't come down in price.
I ended up buying a second ticket from a broker and got the 40yd Club level sec 313 pretty much the best seats I could have gotten and paid LESS than the sec 523 tkts I got from UM...wont be making that mistake again....Ill wait it out and get them from a broker
Did you get tickets already? I am a Victor's Club member and haven't seen an email about this (as of this morning). OP made it sound as if an announcement was upcoming, not that it had already happened.
No, those were our tickets for the Sugar Bowl.
What was your mistake guy? I went to the OU-Texas game this year and had a heck of a time. I want to go back for 'Bama vs UM, should I wait for stub-hub, is that what your suggesting>?
Tickets were $125 for the Sugar Bowl, but were something like $50 on stubhub immediately after they were released.
i hope we can scheme up something to attack a fast defense like bama has..
If being treated like a bowl game, is it safe to assume that tickets will be available much cheaper online closer to game time?
I would expect so. Didn't they play one in jerryworld this year, too? You could probably do some ticket price research on that game for your answer.
How will tickets work for students?
I kinda doubt there will be any student discount or priority for this game.
I'm willing to bet students will get a break. Why would you even think that they wouldn't? We get breaks for home games, bowl games, NCAA hockey tournament games, GLI games, etc.
I'm sure Jerrys World will offer the $50ish standing room only tickets that were sold last year. Looks like stubhub is the way to go with this cash grab.
according to this article
tickets were a commodity last year and thus prices went up. other searches showed that lsu sold 37k tickets themselves so that was huge and as was indicated above that eventually $50 standing room tickets were later sold.
so i'm not sure if it's better to wait like it would have been for the bowl game or if waiting in this case may end up costing you more.
Slight off-topic but.....
I'm guessing we'll be ranked in the top 10 next year pre-season. Prolly around 4-6 if I was to guess. Bama, win or lose on Monday, will prolly be in the top 1-3. So....if we win (sorry....WHEN we win) I can absolutely see us capturing the #1 ranking in the country the following week. Wouldn't that be something?
Yes cart signficantly ahead of said horse. Buy hey....isn't that we we have blogs in the off-season?
We will not be between 4-6. We'll be around 10, and if we win could jump to 4ish.
I think being ranked 10 is optimistic.
Optimistic maybe, but not unlikely. We are going to end up in a group of teams with WV, VaTech, MSU, Georgia, Clemson, FSU, South Carolina, and Arkansas who will be ranked in the 8-16 range. I think you could make an arguement for us over at least half those teams so a pre-season ranking in the 12 range is probably the most likely outcome. Doesn't matter much anyways, with our schedule if we end the season near the top ten I will be thrilled.
We went through the current rankings and picked out teams that will be ranked ahead of us next year. We only counted 4 for sure (before Montee Ball said he was coming back), so we said top 5 was possible but unlikely. A lot of teams are losing quarterbacks, lots of players, etc. and we lose very few compared to thos teams. I'd say Top 10 is probably pretty likely. The hype machine has already been going for 133 with people talking about Denard getting a Heisman next year. Then when you take into account that ESPN and Jerry Jones will probably be lobbying for Michigan to get into the top 5 for ratings, I think there is a small chance that Michigan gets in above a mess of other great-but-not-elite teams.
I respectfully disagree. I think we'll be ranked much higher than any of you imagine going into next year and will have a chance to jump quickly with a win in Dallas. Remember, CollegeFootballNews.com, crazy or not, picked us to play LSU in the national championship game next year.
We're going to finish this year ranked 8-10 and the hype machine hasn't even started yet. Wait n see.....we're at 12 now in the Coaches Poll and we're going to move past VTech, Wisconsin, Loser of game tonight and maybe Stanford although I doubt it. That puts us at 8 or 9 ending the year and no way do we drop back from there in the pre-season polls.
That's basically what I just said.
The teams that I think will for sure be ranked ahead of us are LSU, Bama, and Oregon. Teams probably ranked ahead of us are USC, and Oklahaoma. Possibly ranked ahead of us would be Arkansas, SoCar, Baylor (If RG3 returns), KSU, Wisconsin, and Clemson. I really doubt any of those except Wisconsin or the SEC teams will be ranked ahead of us. So, I'm guessing in the 4-9 range. I really don't see how we start lower than 10 next year.
If you want to see where we will likely be ranked pre-season...I would say that Vegas sports book odds to win the championship would be a good indicator.
My guess FWIW - 12ish
when they actually go on sale
Wowzers Brandon - these prices are insane. My yearly student tickets at Michigan were $115.
If we would have played Alabama in the Sugar, tickets would have been sky high. If you don't understand the difference between a top ten Alabama vs Michigan matchup and a top 20 Michigan vs VT matchup then I don't what to say. These tickets, I can promise will not go below face value. We will sell all of our tickets and Alabama will sell all of theirs. I personally had a couple friends go to the Sugar Bowl but know of many that plan on going to yhis game. This game will resemble UTL ticket demand.
It's a 20 hour drive from Ann Arbor to Dallas and a 10 hour drive from Tuscaloosa to Dallas. The Sugar Bowl was not sold out and has 3,500 fewer seats than Cowboy Stadium and that's not including the standing sections.
Ticket demand for UTL was high because it was the first night game at Michigan Stadium and because it was in Ann Arbor. You are not going to get 40,000-55,000 people to drive/fly down to Dallas, and I'd be surprised if you could get that many people away from Tuscaloosa. FWIW, only 87,000 people showed up for the Oregon-LSU game. That probably means that there were a good number of people standing and some seats still open.
40,000 more tkts to sell?
watching Michigan play Alabama, win or lose, is better than watching Michigan play a random MAC or worse opponent.
I would rather play a San Diego State at the Big House and get the season off to a good start. We are still turning things around after a few lean years and I'd like to see us keep the momentum with another great record.
Watching Michigan play a home and home against Alabama that would aternate with ND is better.
Probably more than U-M. There ARE a lot of Michigan alums/fans in the DFW area however. But, I'd have to agree that the stadium probably won't be filled at those ticket prices. If they dropped the price, maybe. Either way, I'm going.
LSU vs Oregon tickets went way above face and Oregon has half the following we do. Do what you want but you will not find tickets below face. Peolple have planned to attend this game for a year and a half and it means much more than a bowl game.
I hope most have the attitude to wait it out and I will get better seats through Michigan. I also went to Sugar Bowl. I will rethink buying through Michigan in future bowl games. Bowl games in general leave very little time to make travel plans after games announced. As a result airfare is quite a high and people don't go. Less demand, lower ticket prices.
However for this game, I expect demand to be much higher. Bama will not have problem selling their allotment like VT did. Flying to DFW will be cheaper than paying last minute prices around the holiday season. Travel costs will be more affordable for this game.
Another Sugar Bowl ticket issue was that in order for many people to buy National Championship tickets they had to purchase a package that included tickets to the Sugar Bowl. These people, many of whom are from Louisiana and have talked to me about this, bought the package and sold their Sugar Bowl tickets for whatever they could get. This had a lot to do with the dirt cheap prices.
That explains why there were so many LSU fans at the game.
Well worth it. And hopefully tickets will go on sale to the general public as soon as I get my tax return check.
Anyone have any idea how Cowboys season ticket holders play into all of this? My girlfriend's dad is a season ticket holder and said he would use his pull to get me some tickets, but is waiting on word from me about the details. I can't find anything. PLEASE HELP!
Ridiculous. Season ticket holders should get to purchase this game at normal season ticket prices as part of our season renewal since we're being robbed of a home game. I would love to go, but I won't pay that price. If tix are available on Stub Hub for a lesser price nearer game time, I'm there. Otherwise, TV it is.
I totally agree. I can see the positives - the players will love it, it is a big game that highlights Michigan's elite status, etc. But, from the prespective of a 20 year plus season ticket holder, it is hard to not see this as losing a precious home game. If Brandon had offered it to ticket holders at the normal premium game price, I would have less of a problem with it. The price just adds insult to injury and shows the utter lack of value that Bradon places in anyone who is not the highest bidder.
