When people make analogies that purposefully ignore inconvenient facts they should be corrected.
Got it. My phone feed is screwy.
So there is that.
It's not about Hoke. I think our roster has talent in 2014. If they are coached correctly then the sky is the limit. If not, it will be another long year passing the buck.
Hoke and Brandon surely know that. Borges and Funk still have to go.
We didn't beat an undefeated Bama in Hoke's first season either.
And Auburn won on a miracle play twice. UM had one such game.
For all we know Auburn fans could be saying the same thing you are in two years.
If you are going to bitch at least bitch logically.
True. But have you seen the way auburn is winning some if these games? Auburn this year is a lot like Michigan 2011. They probably should have lost the last two games.
You can argue the wins and losses - we saw just how far UM is from Bama last year. It was not competitive. Auburn was 3-9 last year. They just beat Bama. And if they lost it would have been by a Td max. A big diffference than what we are. Coaching does matter.
By your thinking, if OSU ends up as the BCS champion then our loss to them by only one point would be proof of good coaching, right?
Remember he coached at Auburn as OC so he already knew what he had. Auburn players have ran his system before. This isn't a good analogy because we don't know what Auburn will be like in 2014-15.
I know we hate Ohio round here but if they don't play for the title if they go undefeated, then that doesn't bode well for the perception of the BIG 10.
u say that as if the committe will take an undefeated BIG Ten team in a 4 team playoff if the eye test tells them a one loss team is better. Perception matters.
Not playing Bama. They'll play FSU with a backup QB
And by getting it forces Alabama to have to do something to win the game. Interesting. I guess that's okay.. if it works for you.
Yes and also Auburn has a really good record and there is a lot for them on the line...whats for uofm on the line at this point?
UM's defense did not. I also believe Auburn's QB was healthy.
And so was their kicker.
Being rivalry week I was thinking UofM has a lot of rivals: OSU, MSU, ND
On the other side Sparty only has us. Is that why they play us like its their superbowl? Does it make it easier to prepare for just one rivalry game as opposed to 3?
That's not how it works in the BCS.
I never thought I'd say this, but "Go, Sparty."
If Wisconsin drops out of the rankings, neither Ohio nor Sparty has beaten a currently ranked team this season have they? Could be an interesting ranking situation this week.
Did anyone else notice Kozan during this game? How dominant was that kid?? I can only imagine how much better our O-line would be with just that commit.
Talent is not the issue with the line.
I agree, but he would be a seasoned Interior linemen... That's all I was getting at... He's a Sophomore I think? Maybe RS Fr the more I think about it...
Was he higher rated than Kalis? I doubt it. Or if anything they were equal. Thay is like saying if Tom Brady was drafted by the Lions 12 years ago his career arc would be the same. We have high rated recruits galore on the OL from 2012 and 2013. Right now until Funk develops any of the younger guys into someone great you cannot move player ABC from team A to UM and say "he would have been great".
Another great game, and another crazy finish. I really like seeing Saban do something stupid that cost his team the game. It's hubris at its finest. Arrogant ass uses his larger than life status to get one tick on the clock -- which was bullshit to begin with -- and he uses that one second to shoot himself in the dick.
Most of our assumptions about Ohio's porous defense could be tested against various matchups. I think Alabama and Staee run offenses that are predictable and slow themselves down, thereby allowing Ohio to stay in those games or win them outright. Against more dynamic systems run by FSU or Auburn (not sure about Mizzou), we'd see a better chance of a fiery and ruinous end for those motherless fucks.
I think you are wrong about Bama. They have a ton of talent on offense. Predictable or not you still have to stop it and OSU does not have the coaching to stop Bama. Bama scores 30 plus on OSU. Maybe even 40.
For once I agree with you. Heck I think MSU will put up something like 24-28 on OSU at a minimum, potentially low 30s. They have 1 great LB, a D-line that is talented but uber young outside the DTs, and nothing special in the secondary. MSU OL will keep Cook's jersey relatively clean and Langford will have more holes than UM backs.
Forget FSU or Bama or whatever against OSU defense. They would toy with it. That said OSU offense is legit. Braxton did not even have a good game through the air -he missed a few big passes that would have really hurt, thankfully. If he was on with his pass game that offense becomes FSU like in scary-ness. I would love to see Hyde versus Bama defense but MSU defense will be interesting at the minimum.
I agree that Bama has a ton of talent, but Ohio's defensive strength is their D-line and I'm guessing that they could win a matchup with Bama's OL - which didn't appear to have a great run game tonight.
I was less bummed by our loss than I am with Bama's loss and all the pretty things that will come to Staee and Ohio because of it.
I think most Spartan fans are thinking Rose Bowl no matter what happens in the crazy world of college football in the next couple of weeks. Our loss to ND in SB may have been... ahem... interesting, but we lost because our offense hadn't clicked yet. It now has clicked (enough to be average which is all MSU needs).
Rose Bowl first. if we have another season like this next year maybe then Spartan fans can start to worry about a NC. At least teams will have to earn it rather than win a popularity contest soon. That can only help MSU in any run for a NC.
Well, the sad thing is that if Jameis Winston doesn't play against OSU in the NCG (assuming they beat Sparty), they have a MUCH better chance to win. That sucks BIG BALLS.
The "Ron Zook Dumb Punt of the Week" goes to... Nick Saban!
If the BIG Ten can't get an undefeated OSU team in the title game, then u can't be mad if UM goes undefeated one year and gets passed over for a one loss team from another conference.
We don't play piece of shit non conference schedules like osu does.
Uhh yes we do.
Don't know what the hell you are talking about. This post is saying to keep OSU as #3 since the teams ahead of them would also stay undefeated. The scenario you are describing is really irrelevant to his rooting for Bama
I'm sorry, but I just can't bring myself to ever root for Ohio or msu. Alabama just screwed this whole thing up. Would love to see Ohio get spanked in the NCG--if that is a possibility.
Auburn will jump them. Watch and see.
I am hoping Bane shows up in Indy next week.
Pulling for Sparty to win, unless Ohio does t move into the top 2
Fuck bama ...war eagle
Don't ignore Missouri. They are leading A&M. If they win they play Auburn. If they win that they will be 12-1 with only a double OT loss to South Carolina. They have a number of big wins against ranked teams.
I was watching that game in a roomful of people who couldn't care less about football, and we were all stunned. I have never seen a game end that way..
