AKGOBLUE97 died this morning

Submitted by lmgoblue1 on

He died in his tree stand hunting in Ohio.  He was my best friend.  He was what you all call a Walmart Wolverine.  He was my quarterback in High School. I played Center.  The only man I ever let have hands near my butt. I went to my first game in 1969, we became friends in 1972. That's when he went to his first Michigan game with me and my parents.  He became a Wolverine on that day.  He went to CMU for college, I went to Michgian.  He never graduated from college, opting to work in a factory instead.  He had two beautiful children and I joined the Navy after graduation.  He was with me at the Rose Bowl in 1989 when we won. and in 1990 when we lost in Bo's last game. He was the epitomy of a "Michigan Man" despite the fact that he married a fricking buckeye. He lived Michigan, his life's joy and sorrows were about Michigan.  His children, adults now, are pure Michigan.

Tonight I do not have my friend and brother to talk to about the game. My text is empty, the void you cannot imagine.

We are All Wolverines. Be nice to your Brothers and Sisters, my friends. I am bleeding from my heart tonight, but it is Blue Blood.   We all will be alright, and the future, the future looks great with Jim.at the helm.

Go Blue my Brothers. Rejoice in your common bond. It's Great to Be a Michigan Wolverine.

I agree. A guy I like this, he loved the University of Michigan and Michigan football way more than 99% of the Michigan alumni I know. To use the term like Walmart Wolverine to describe a guy who's biggest passion in life was Michigan football is borderline disgusting, imo.

May he and Bo talk strategy over every Michigan game from here until the sun burns out.  Thanks for sharing your story and my respects to a true Michigan Man.

Using my phone and accidentally downvoted the OP. Scrambled like the mad hatter to correct that shit. That said, points on this board are irrelevant at a time like this. RIP AKGOBLUE97. Thoughts and prayers are with the OP and all other friends and family of yours, the departed. God bless.

We, don’t acknowledge the term walmart wolverine. That is a derogatory label that MSU fans adopted. I did not attend Michigan but I fell in love with everything Michigan when I attended my first game at 8 years old way before I thought about attending any university. That being said I am sorry for your loss my fellow wolverine.

Almost lost my UM compadre recently. Been watching this game without texting him due to his situation. Hurts like hell. Hopefully he’s watching at Bo’s house.

For your loss OP. I lost my best friend in 2011 at way too young of an age, so I know exactly how you feel right now. Very tough time to lose a fellow Wolverine diehard, but getting together with the community here does help!

I'm sorry for your loss.

As a side note, I'm one of those that fucking hate the phrase, "Walmart Wolverine." Seriously, fuck that. If you love my team, you're a friend to me. I don't give a shit if you went to UM or not.
