Hahahahaha, needed that.
and... i like them? I think I like them.
Hahahahaha, needed that.
Oh nooooooooooooo we'll have to run spread now.
Good point. I like this
Give Kalis some gloves and the number 1 jersey. I think he could be a pleasant surprise at TE
First my brother now you AJ! Damn kids.
Your brother got in trouble in Oxford, Ohio?
What is up with this town?
Leaders and Best
this won't matter much in the game...
and an arrest like that merits a suspension.
I really thought football players didn't drink during football season! I was way wrong.
Apparently you never frequented Mitch's, the Jug, or Charley's. Some very high profile guys were notorious beer pong champs at Mitch's back in the day. They're still students, after all.
Not at all.
That reads "This window was broken by the famous Brian Greise while being thrown out"
Definitely has a Plague, but not just out front.
SPREAD WITH BUTT...
ok, that didn't come out right.
Legit lol. Well played.
DUI is a serious offense. I'm not surprised to see Hoke suspend him but its refreshing to see none the less. Also nothing personal against AJ but this is probably for the best game wise since Borges can't throw him out there as a "blocker"
cross this one off the list. Hope the beer was worth it.
I am so sick of people (not just 'kids' or 'students') drinking and driving. I hope DUI penalties go up to 10-15 thousand dollars or jail time.
There are proposals to lower the limit to 0.05 in some states, MI being one of them.
I don't think that's the problem. Personally, I think .08 is too low. You should be alllowed to go somewhere, have a couple drinks, and drive home.
It's not the people at .09 who are the problem. And lowering the legal limit doesn't deter the people at .15+ any more. Let's stop worrying about punishing the people who are just barely drunk and start dropping the hammer on the people who totally are.
I couldn't agree more. How about we do more to punish the people who are actually intoxicated instead of catching more people who aren't. It's such a non-solution.
Lowering the legal limit is like trying to cut down on cocaine use by increasing the punishment for weed. The new people you're arresting have nothing to do with the problem. Like you said, if you can't drive at .08, then you can't drive.
I've always felt that way as well. Not saying I do or anyone should, but I can certainly drive better at .15 than my mom can sober.
As for lowering the limit, I agree it's stupid. The primary advocates for this are actually the law firms that specialize in (aka exploiting) those who are arrested. Cops, courts, and the entire rehab system make a ton of money off of it as well.
The legal limit for someone under 21 is .02 in Ohio, FWIW
Unless you weigh about 60 pounds, drinking a beer with dinner is not going to get you anywhere near .08. A 140 pound person who chugs 2 beers (i.e., no time period to dilute the alcohol) will be at a .05. A 140 pound person who drinks 5 beers in 2 hours would be at .08. I don't know about you, but I'd be feeling quite tipsy at that point, and I tip the scales at 180.
Maybe it's my immature side... but this made me almost spit my coffee out this morning!
Have you actually blown 0.08 before? I have. Actually 0.78, luckily I got my wake-up call without any legal ramifications or worse. I was in no shape for driving at that point. I mean, I wasn't running off the road but there's zero question that my ability to react to something unexpected was significantly impaired.
I agree with you although my intent was not to stir a debate on this policy since you can't really delve into it without going to politics, especially to why some of your proposals are not likely to happen. Just wanted to point out a proposal that's been floating around some states.
Lets not let recruits party with this guy. Geeesh, what a horrible example.
You realize, though, that it's not the underage drinking that's the problem as much as the underage drinking...and driving? I don't think the issue here has a whole lot to do with whether or not AJ Williams is of legal drinking age.
Anything that could nudge Borges away from MANBALL will not cause me to complain. Just wish it had been something more innocuous.
Sorry, but DUI is serious enough that I'd kick him off the team.
Is that you Darryl Stonum?
Not like he traded game used items for weed, tats and cars. He didn't slide over a car Dukes of Hazard style or beat up a bunch of nerds...kids in many places do stupid things
I was going to post something about this yesterday, but I had no real source. My friend goes to Miami (NTM) and told me she heard he was arrested for DUI that night--I obviously didn't report it because I had no way of confirming it was true and it sounded like merely speculation. Sorry to see that it's been confirmed, I was hoping it was just a rumor.
Maybe this will deter Borges from trying to manball it up vs MSU
In some States if you're caught with any amount of alcohol while underage you can be arrested for DUI.
I have no idea if that's what happened here, but it is a possibility AFAIK.
uhhhh what? I think you mean MIP -- they can't just charge you with a DUI.
A.J. is underage. He could blow a .01 and still get arrested.
A BAC of .122
blocking TE we have on the roster.
Not to overstate AJ's contributions to the team this season but how the hell are we supposed to win a bruising smash mouth road game without a blocking tight end?
U-M's not fooling anybody with the idea that they would ever throw to Williams. Just put an extra lineman out there instead.
Are we seriously happy a Michigan player got busted for DUI because it'll force the coaches to run the scheme we like more? Seriously? Are we really doing this?
no one was hurt; yes we are.
for an underage DUI would net certain other coaches unending amounts of scorn for being far too lenient. Yet with Hoke it's hardly even part of the discussion.
And it's happened before. See: Toussaint.
And people didn't overall crucify Rich Rod for giving Stonum another chance either.
