Staee is still losing? If another B1G team falls to another MAC school today then Michigan needs to have a damn good showing tonight to save the conference. Fortunately I think Michigan can, and will.

Bell, Bell, Bell. One positive about this game is that it's going to kill Maxwell's confidence. His coach doesn't trust him to do anything other than check down to his TE on obvious third down passing plays. Against Eastern.

Beautiful hit on Maxwell by EMU on that play. Pass to MSU's incarnation  of Tacopants was incomplete, which seems unlikely, but at his height, he sometimes is hard-pressed to go down for underthrown passes.

60% downfield passes are catchable by receiver

30% of those are actually caught by MSU WR's

20% downfield passes catchable by defense

When you consider its going to take >5 passes to get downfield...

You're better off just running bell/dumping off to backs and TE's

Is the MSU coaching staff crazy putting him on punt return? I have my doubts that he can stay healthy for the whole season given how much they will need to rely on him.

I almost can't believe what I'm watching.  EMU's horrible run defense standing up MSU's "darkhorse Heisman candidate".  But I guess when MSU's QB is being totally ineffective, they can just load the box.

Still think Sparty wins, but this has been awful for MSU.  This was supposed to be their game to work on their passing game, not turn to the run game because you're losing and actually need to do something to win...
