Dammit. EMU isn't going to march the field on MSU, their only hope for scores are big strikes, and.... dammit
Afternoon Games Open Thread
And then a sack. That figures...
How'd I know that was going to happen. Typical. Drop the easy TD, then get sacked. Fer fuck sake!
Wow, did y'all see that stat? Collectively, MSU and EMU are 2-21 on 3rd down. This is pathetic.
Well, that's why EMU is EMU.
is just brutal.
i just don't understand coaches and their play calls sometimes
and the receiver drops it. Ensuing play and the it's a sack... unbelievable
So I just woke up from a nap, is it really only 9-7 Sparty?
EMU's punter is having a great day. They are killing Sparty in net punting.
Hopefully this is setting up for a crushing last-second field goal by EMU to win 10-9.
be to have EMU miss the game winning FG but have an offsides penalty. Then EMU makes it.
sadly...this is why your eastern michigan. You have to make that freaking catch....I mean he dropped it into your damn breadbasket.
MSU games are nearly unwatchable. If I didn't love Spartyfreude so much I could never sit through these...
Wow #17! Catch the damn ball. That could have been a dagger.
Love seeing him need to take so many hits in this kind of game.
Man, they are going to kill Bell if they keep running him this much. Guy is going to have 30+ carries again today. He's over 100 so far.
Even if Sparty wins, they lose.
If I'm sparty.....I abandon the passing game and just run bell into the ground. Gotta salt the game away somehow.
Do we read about nd's win over Sparty last week given this performance?
Regardless of whether MSU wins or loses, I wonder what those guys who talked mad shit about Denard during the Alabama game are thinking right now.
They might get beat by one of the worst teams in the country today. That says more about your program than a thrashing by an all-NFL unit like Alabama ever
Damn. EMU sitting on the run (with middling success) and Maxwell is finally hitting downfield throws.
EMU has given MSU all that they wanted. No matter what happens I'm proud of their effort today.
Even if MSU wins this game (and it looks like they will), this must be incredibly disturbing for them. They've struggled against 3 of their 4 opponents so far, and their QB hasn't gotten any better all year. Bell can chew up crappy defenses, but they are going to have a hard time moving the ball against anyone with a decent front line.
Sims seems to be the only downfield threat MSU has. If Maxwell drops back to pass, there's a very good chance he's going to look in his direction (or Bell's).
Wow....no wonder Sparty is struggling throwing the ball. Maxwell has a Tebowesque wind up before he throws. Explains why some of his passes are behind his WR's.
You would think after 4 yrs in the system the sparty coaches would solve that problem.
joining the SEC was such a great idea?
Aaaaand that looks like an ankle sprain.
Poor bell. Worn out against EMU.
That's what happens when you run a guy 100+ times in 4 games.
Nebraska leads 66-0 now. I know Idaho State is terrible, but still. Sheesh.
Did you miss that game where they gave up basically a school record number of yards to UCLA?
Did I say NU was a national title contender? No. But they can put up a lot of points, and that makes them a dangerous opponent.
Just wanted to point out, we are still the only team to score on Alabama this year.
I hope we can come up with a more inspiring rally cry than "We're better than Arkansas!"
Well also this calendar year. We're better than LSU?
I was going to say - MSU has two plays. Hand-off to Bell, pass to Sims.
Gameplan: Tackle the running back, cover the TE... I think we can do that
Damn you, Donald Scott.
I saw Jabba the Hutt wearing green in the front row
Color gaurd members glare dissapointingly at Sims after a late TD for MSU. 'Bout sums it up.
meanwhile Fister going for a complete game....
UCLA can't fill the Rose Bowl... Sad
it's an hour from campus. In LA traffic
How far and how long do you think those 110,000 Michigan fans come from?
How many students would be there every day if M games were at Ford Field? Go on like this for decades and you raise generations of alumni who don't have any connection to the football team and wont travel.
Students? Not many. Alumni? Tons. Games would still sell out.
...is not a big part of the culture here, and UCLA hasn't done anything in recent memory to change that. There used to be one guy at work that I could talk to about CFB, and he was from Holland. The country.
I can't help but feel more confident about the Notre Dame game after how MSU is playing here.
In other news, Kansas is losing to Northern Illinois late in the 4th.
Miss you big guy, xoxo
Don't worry, the schematic advantage will show soon.
"To Hell with NIU!"
TE seem route FTW
TE seem route FTW
It's funny, but the Emu's are still in this game.
Considering how well EMU's TE has done, I can't wait to see what Funchess can do against MSU.
EMU played this game exactly like Lloyd would have....play tight with a lead until you lose lead in 4th and then open it up when behind by more than one score.
That .gif couldn't be more Penn State.
#7's reaction is hilarious.
Wow this Benz kid does not see his hot read at all....the RB flared out WIDE open.
Why did EMU bench Gillette? He seemed like a decent QB last year.
He is an option QB trying to run a pro-style offense.
wow #17 will be having nightmares tonight....2 easy catches he has blown.
the more confident zi am in U-M tonight
to make score more impressive, lame asses
Bell's going to be sore after this one.
causing him to stupidly keep Bell in when he should rest him?
I don't think he has a lot of faith in his other backs. (And apparently, his other punt returners.)
...blocking back, which is no small consideration given the troubles that MSU has had on the line.
Aside from Sparty's embarrassing performance, got to be happy for PSU. O'Brien needed this to keep his guys motivated.
Spartys are gonna be talking up Bells stats, lol. Majority of those, and the scoring coming in the late 4th quarter.
When you need your RB to run the ball 35 times against EMU, you shouldn't crow about anything.
ND's helmets are hilarious. They're the color of the fake gold coins you buy from the dollar store.
Florida Atlantic had -1 passing yards at halftime against Alabama. I am quaking in fear of the Alabama-like defense of Notre Dame. I mean they manhandled Michigan State! MICHIGAN STATE!!!
End of the 3rd Quarter:
Florida Atlantic has 40 yards total offense. 11 passing, 29 rushing.
Not that Michigan should be celebrating our effort against Bama, but good God, the Bama defense has been utterly annihilating people. And they lost 3 1st round, 1 2nd round player to the NFL draft..
TO HELL WITH NOTRE DAME.
CMU 32, Iowa 31
WMU 30, Connecticut 24
NIU 30, Kansas 23
Ohio 44, Norfolk St. 10
South Florida 25, Ball St. 24 (4th qtr)
VT 37, BG 0
MSU 23, EMU 7
3-2 against BCS teams with another game still in the balance. Akron won't beat Tennessee tonight, of course, but if Ball State can pull this out they'll have a winning record on the weekend against BCS opponentes. That's probably never happened before.
