Afternoon Game Open Thread

Submitted by Derek on

I don't see a thread, so I figured I would start one. It doesn't seem possible, but other football games are still happening today.

It's now 49-17 at halftime. The commentators are alternating between delight at the number of points they've scored and sympathy for Dan Persa's unfortunate injury last week.

Shit yeah, we're definitely better than Northwestern, Indiana, and Austin Peay.  Michigan definitely let up fewer points than those teams to Wisconsin.

Seriously, Wisconsin's a chain saw right now.  I'm really impressed with them and sincerely hope that all of there lineman follow Tolzien somewhere other than Madison next season.

Good gravy, that Ball kid from Wisconsin is putting up Dee Hart-ian numbers the last few games.  I guess Wisky wants to cement that higher BCS rank to secure the Rose Bowl...

At least we're not:

-Iowa:  what a disappointing season this had to have been for them.  Weren't they just the "best three-loss team" last week?  You lose to Minnesota this year, you're not the "best" anything

-Texas:  at least we're going to a bowl

-Florida:  I don't know what their expectations were, but 7-5 probably looks like football   armageddon to them lately

Did anyone go a weaker 11-1 than State?

  • WMU (6-6), W
  • FAU (4-7), W
  • Notre Dame (6-5, pending tonight's thrashing by USC), W
  • Northern Colorado (3-8), W
  • Wisconsin (11-1), W (their only "quality" win)
  • UM (7-5), W
  • Illinois (6-5), W
  • NU (7-5), W
  • Iowa (7-5), L (stomped by a 7-5 team)
  • Minnesota (3-9), W
  • Purdue (4-8), W
  • PSU (7-5), W

Factor in no OSU and that looks pretty weak.  I'm too lazy to look up the other 0- and 1-loss teams, but wow

ESPNU just zoomed in on the quarterback to totally miss a supposedly spectacular catch in the Mississippi State game. Just stayed on the QB through the 30 yard flight of the ball, the catch, and the 15-20 yard run into the end zone.

Worst non-transition ever.
