Adrian Witty
Apologies in advance if this is old news...but is it now officially confirmed that Adrian Witty will not attend Michigan? I heard that he passed the clearing house, but that the U-M admissions office was not satisfied. Another blog said it was confirmed he will not be attending, but I did not see an official source for this information.

Knight becomes an even bigger priority now. Bad news on Drake, I liked him, but this should open the door for another defensive player.

Hopefully we can still get Drake in next year, I liked him a lot to.

Correction: Adrian Witty qualified. The NCAA cleared him in November. He is being denied entry to Michigan because UM's admissions department is running scared from the Freep, afraid of what they will do/say if UM admits a player that was previously denied. Witty did what he had to do, and he's not going to be rewarded.
Neither Witty nor Drake will ever suit up at UM.

We're Michigan, and the gap between student and student-athlete at Michigan is as big as it is at other schools.
Unfortunately, our student-athlete standards have to be higher than most other schools regular student standards in order to keep that gap the same size...

We're talking about the same admissions department that let Marques Slocum and Eugene Germany in.

Not only does this suck for Witty, but this is a very crappy way to run a football program. This is the first I've heard that admissions (rather than the NCAA clearinghouse) has been the issue with respect to Witty. Hopefully you can spread the news on this because I think a lot of people (myself included) would not be happy with the decision to keep out a kid from a not so great educational environment who has definitely proved he wants to come to Michigan and is willing to work for it.

I graduated with a number of kids who didn't get in out of HS yet somehow they transferred in after freshman year. I didn't know this was an issue now.

Are we to understand that there'd be an article, questioning Michigan's football program and coaches, with respect to a single, particular football player's preadmission aptitude testing scores?
This would be the same daily newspaper that was so exquisitely sensitive to the needs of young student-athletes that they gave them anonymity, to spare them from the opprobrium that might reault if it were known that they made allegations with respect to CARA forms and the perception of supervision at voluntary practices?

Sad that we're losing out on great talent from the South due to petty circumstances. Just making things harder for Michigan to get back to the top.
