Admissions Letter

Submitted by MGoSoftball on

I received my letter from the admissions office.  "We have carefully reviewed your application to the Rackham School of Graduate Studies.  We gave your application serious consideration and made our decision on many factors......."

I read this from by BB.  I dropped the phone on the table and said out loud..."Awwwwe shit".  The waitress came over and asked if every thing was ok.

I picked up the phone again, all pissed off.  The font was very small so I enlarged it.  It continued: "The Graduate Committee has recommended you for regular admissions to the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies."

I then yelled "fu*k yea".  Everyone at the diner looked at me funny again.  I appologized but with a smile on my face.  They must have thought I was crazy.  What a rush.

Congratulations!

Good story to go along with it, too. Very ballsey of you to open it in a public place. I hope you threw up an epic fist pump.

EDIT: Sorry for the echo, Jasper...need to read responses more closely

When I got admitted to undergrad, I didn't get a chance to open the letter. My dad (three Michigan degrees himself) picked me up after school one day. After some standard conversation, he said "By the way, congratulations – you got into Michigan." When I asked him how he could have opened my letter, he said "It had my name on it." Which it did, as I am a Jr. But he knew what it was.

I got over that real fast though. That was November of my senior year, thanks to Michigan's rolling admissions. Everyone I knew was just getting started on the standard 6-12 applications. I was spared all that crap.

Awesome job! This is making me more anxious.  They received my application on the 15th of January for the LSA program so I'm hoping to hear back from them soon!

Again, way to freakin go!

good luck.  You might want to drop them an email just to check in.  Maybe they are missing some of your info.  I emailed them.  I am glad I did because he said,  "yea I need more data.  I sent you an email a few days ago."

I never received that first email. So if I would not have checked in with tehm, I would still be waiting for them and they would be waiting on me.  It never hurts to ask them, "Is my file complete and when should I expect an answer?"

Good luck

was awesome because that meant I could tear up the MSU acceptance. That wouldn't have worked anyway because I hated MSU before, during, and after college.

Congrats and Go Blue!

ps: I'm expecting my son's acceptance letter in about 16 years. We're working on tackling right now. We need a scholarship because out-of-state tuition is gonna suck!
