Adam Breneman (PSU TE) out indefinitely

Submitted by gwkrlghl on

Penn State TE Adam Breneman is out indefinitely with a knee injury:

As of now, details weren't made available, but we do know the injury is to his left knee and has nothing to do with the previous ACL tear back in high school. This new injury is also not believed to be an ACL, which would guarantee that he misses the entire 2014 season.

You may recall Breneman as a near-5* TE coming out of HS. The tone of the article would seem to indicate he might miss a big chunk of the season (and possibly UTLIII) though that's not certain yet. A big blow to Penn State, though they always seem to have 2-3 Tight Ends that would start on most other teams.

For a team short on scholarship talent, they can't afford a lengthy big loss like this one. Good luck to the kid.

are pro sports and the completely random stuff like Jeff Bridges for Senate petitions. PSU is in the Big Ten which makes anything about Penn State on topic, and even if they weren't you're right that being a future opponent makes them on topic.

But isn't any conference team we don't play a potential opponent in the B1G championship game? My understanding is that we play all the teams in the Whatever-The-Hell-They-Call-It-Now Division and only miss some of the teams in Whatever-The-Hell-They-Call-The-Other-Division.

Edit: I did not see realistic opponent.

Just to be clear, I was joking when I said it wasn't OT because he was an old recruit. I know that UM plays PSU, and that he was a big time player for them. See, the humor was in replying to someone praising the correct understanding of the OT rules by obliviously misapplying said rules.

I defiintely did not mean to start a multiple response exchange over the nature of on-topic v. off-topic (aka, the  most boring issue on the board).

Hopefully, he can play at least some of the season - he was one of the more productive freshman TEs in the conference really, and that TD against Wisconsin that the article mentions was admittedly fun to watch on a highlight reel for that game. As someone mentioned, the Nittany Lions are deep at TE and this opens the door for a few guys, but you hate to see seasons shortened like this before they even begin for players.

He's the kind of guy you wouldn't redshirt even if he could only play the last four games.  Good luck to him on his recovery, and may he find a Michigan linebacker in his face every play if he does play against us.

Penn State will rely on Kyle Carter and Jesse James (NTJJ) in Breneman's absence. They have the bodies to replace him, but it's still a blow. Breneman was probably the most talented of the group.

When you say "Not that Jesse James," do you mean the TV personality who broke the heart of America's sweet heart? Or do you mean the celebrated and heavily mythologized American outlaw?

Follow-up, does that mean that by not being that Jesse James, that it is, in fact, the other one?

Stinks for the young man. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery.

On the injury front, OSU lost one of their prominent freshman LBs, Kyle Berger, for the season with a torn ACL. Second time he's torn an ACL. I'm sure Drake Harris could empathize with multiple injuries.

Here's wishing all these kids healthy careers.

Ugh, injuries suck. These guys only have so many years to play the game, it sucks so hard to see them lose any of that time to injuries. Hopefully whatever happened is something he can bounce back 100% from.
