Ace: Chris Wormley Named No. 1 Ohio Prospect by Bucknuts

Submitted by Ace on

The article is paywalled, but the information is very much in the header: Yes, an Ohio site just named a Wolverine commit as their top in-state prospect.

Attempted jinx? You decide, but congratulations to Chris Wormley.

Sweet.  Hope we can keep it up in OH for years to come.

Oh, and by the way Ace, since we no long longer have the pos-bang, I think you should petition Brian for an immediate MGoPoint bonus.  I feel like our Recruiting Ninja should at least have more points than a middle schooler who pops in every few weeks.

To those middle schoolers who pop in every few weeks, I still like you.  As long as you go to UM, and especially if you are a 5 star football recruit and will go to UM.

That would make sense IF he had listed A.C. as one of his favorite players.

"My favorite Wolverines of my lifetime - well, the part of my lifetime when I've been able to follow a football game - are Charles Woodson, Brandon Graham, Mike Hart, and Tim Biakabutuka"

Context man, context...

Besides, A.C. is the King of Hearts:

Ace has more points than me, and I'm 40!  (But perhaps I'm a 40 year old 8th grader).

Agree, though.  Our in-house recruiting guru needs more street cred and an instant bump-up.  Can we donate MGoPoints in a similar fashion as airline frequent flyer miles?  But just like frequent flyer miles, MGoPoints don't get you much in life.   Unless, of course, you want to fly to an unpopular destination (I hear Bolivia is lovely at this time of year).

I feel like you should post with "ACE: ..." where ... is the post title.  Just so people know its you.  Or don't if thats not your thing, but I would have clicked in 5 seconds instead of like 8 if I knew you posted it.

Can't see those now, but 247Sports really likes him as a prospect, too: Got him as the No. 56 player overall. Pretty sure that's his highest ranking by a relatively wide margin.

My highschool classmate and longtime friend Dave Biddle a staff writer for Bucknuts, sent me the news today about Wormley and Kalis. This is his one attempt to prove to me that he is in fact not a homer. Still not buying it.

EDIT: Obviously late on asking you to add your name to the title, sooo...

Thanks, Ace. It's surprising enough that they named a Michigan player #1, but even more surprising is that it's not Kalis.

Looking forward to more good updates from you

What I find most amazing is that they picked Wormley as their #1 recruit in Ohio. The scuttlebutt I have heard about Chris doesn't lead me to believe that he is better than Kalis, Washington, Odenigbo, Pittman, Dunn, etc., etc.

The thing about Wormley is that his ceiling is basically unlimited with his size and athletic ability.  He had a monster sophomore year and was all-state or something, and then back-slid in his junior year.  So jury is still a little out on his productivity, but you can't get much better in the measurables, and has flexibility to play multiple positions.

He did play hurt as a junior after a huge sophomore year, so they must think that the injury hurt his production instead of him leveling off as a prospect. We'll see pretty soon whether or not that's the case.

I remember hearing he won some defensive award over his OSU commit teammate (was it Miller or Hayes?) despite being a year below him, and injured.  Either way, it's not like his junior year was a total flop so I'm surprised some of the sites were so down on him.

Anyway, he's gonna be a monster and we will win all games he plays in.

Yeah he was named the district player of the year award over kenny hayes last year and as someone who played against him i would say he was definitely the best player on the field even if he was playing with an injury.  My best friend was the offensive tackle who had to attempt to block him and he had no chance even though he was named first team all conference in our league so yeah he's the real deal

FWIW: anyone that has a slow friday night ahead of them, Wormley and the Whitmer Panthers will be playing Start and you can listen to them online @ http://www.wrscradio.com.

My buddy is the voice of the Panthers and he is actually a pretty good listen. i think I might actually head over to the game. Probably won't shoot any footage but I can give a little feedback on my thoughts. Start usually has a decent team and they usually come out pass happy in a spread formation so I wouldn't be suprised to hear wormlry having a sack or two. figured I would give a little background on the game.

If you do decide to go to the game, and shoot some film (pretty please?), definitely get in contact with me. aceanbender [at] gmail [dot] com.

If anybody else would like to help do my job for me, you're more than welcome to as well.

(Just for the record, I will be filming at the Cass/FHH game this weekend, so I will not be sitting back and laughing as the MGoCommunity picks up the slack. Well, not much, at least.)
