It probably would have helped if everyone didn't leave already
September 30th, 2014 at 7:08 PM ^
That looked like a couple thousand people on a few hours notice (after it looked like there would be about eight). I guess people are upset that it dispersed, but that seemed like the biggest succes anyone could imagine.
Although ESPN just said dozens, so either they or Ace's pictures seem off.

My guess from the ground is about 500.

So we were slightly more successful than DashCon? Hooray. Hope someone brought a ball pit.
Thank you Internet for giving us a forum to collectively overreact about relatively inconsequential shit. MGoBoard has looked more and more like Reddit with all the Internets outrage lately. Has Shane expressed outrage over the way he was treated? Has his family? Has any other players on the team? Their families? No? Just the people who are in no way directly affected by the conduct at issue then? Wake me up when this is over.

Kirk Herbstreit: "This is a bit of a witch hunt"it is about wins and losses.
September 30th, 2014 at 7:10 PM ^
This happened after we lost to Minnesota at home and got beat by Utah the week before. The water has been steadily rising and this took down the dam.

He's destroying the program.
September 30th, 2014 at 7:17 PM ^
We could've gone 14-0 and people would have been ready to get rid of DB. BH on the other hand has not helped himself when it comes to his relationship with the media. The students and alumni did not force the words he's used since Saturday night. He's responsible for his own mouth.
September 30th, 2014 at 7:53 PM ^
It's always been about wins and losses, which are the objective measure of the incompetence of the coaching staff/administration to a fair degree. But there remains some need with the fans to create villains out of people they want to see fired, as if "jus cause" can't be that they suck at their jobs and haven't beaten anyone from a Power-5 conference not named Northwestern in about a year.
It is a witch hunt, but I guess the thinking around various parts of the internet is that if it means more immediate satisfaction it is worth it.

The greatest voices of reason come from former players of rival schools, Mike Golic and Kirk Herbsteit.
September 30th, 2014 at 7:25 PM ^
Really? I didn't see any semblance of strike over academic scandal or the tattoo scandal. So, Students gathering to show their disapproval is all about winning? Hey, they should be outraged that ND and OSU students were not outraged.
May be it was about wins and losses, but at least we did something. ND and OSU students can't say that now. Can they?
September 30th, 2014 at 7:09 PM ^
I don't think that overhead view on ESPN did it justice. I was pretty impressed by the footage from the Daily. Took a while to get going, but it was much better than I thought it would be.
September 30th, 2014 at 7:10 PM ^
I'm pretty sure that was an earlier shot
September 30th, 2014 at 7:09 PM ^
I would still call it a success. If he is not fired soon there will be more.

Just FYI so everyone knows, the video of the ralley they showed was from the 6 o'clock recording, same with that entire UM bit so the pictures that you've seen are more recent than that video.
September 30th, 2014 at 7:13 PM ^
how he plays off that we are trying to win the game when we are not. Then Funchess gets hurt twice in those garbage hours where we obviously not going for the win. Then he doesn't wear a headset and then say he didn't see Shane wobbling all over the field. The fact the players aren't progressing as players is another problem. So Kirk is just the fact that we are not winning is the reason to fire Hoke then you don't know the situation so you should keep your mouth shut if you don't know what your talking about.
September 30th, 2014 at 7:24 PM ^
Could the Buckeye have reason why he wants to see Hoke stay as Michigan's coach?

All this huff and puff moral "How dare he!!!" stuff is largely driven by wins and losses, not by Shane's brain. It's just being used as leverage to get what people wanted all along: removal of Brandon and Hoke

September 30th, 2014 at 8:35 PM ^
I think this incident is the latest in Diamond Dave not being transparent, and pissing the fanbase off because we know he is not being transparent. Regardless of what happens to Hoke, I do not want David Brandon as an AD. And whether you believe Hoke was telling the truth as he knew it (even though he should have known) or he lied - the fact that the real truth was not reported like Sunday is on the AD.
As for Hoke - he needs to evolve or move on as well. He was ultimately responsible for Shane playing with a "probable" concussion, and he is responsible for a losing football record.
September 30th, 2014 at 10:30 PM ^
I was pissed when I kept seeing Morris go out there after he was clearly hurt, and then when he took the shot and collapsed almost and stayed in the game, I was infuriated.
Sure, losing sucks, but seeing Morris out there getting lit up with no help from ANYONE just enraged me.
September 30th, 2014 at 7:42 PM ^
there is no protest tonight, Brian is not writing multiple articles on the frontpage, and no one in the MSM cares at all about Shane's concussion
September 30th, 2014 at 7:48 PM ^
I disagree with this. You are probably right about Michigan fans not protesting/being up in arms, but the ESPN announcers for the game were absolutely appalled by the Morris incident, and they don't give a shit about Michigan's record. If we were 5-0, there would probably be more of a "Michigan tries to win at any cost" vibe in the MSM, because concussions are a big deals these days and it still would have gotten some air.

If we were 5-0, we probably wouldn't have our QB getting absolutely lit up by someone from minnesota.

What's so wrong about wanting to fire a coach for losing? Isn't that pretty much the ONLY reason you fire a coach?
September 30th, 2014 at 7:13 PM ^
Yeah, crowd was definitely late arriving. Michigan time, y'all.
September 30th, 2014 at 11:06 PM ^
Well, at least the students are consistent.
September 30th, 2014 at 7:14 PM ^
I was there and it was pretty clear we had at lealst 200-300 people on the lawn.
September 30th, 2014 at 7:14 PM ^
What a joke. Way to get behind this program
September 30th, 2014 at 7:45 PM ^
The program is no longer behind us fans and many alumni/former players (who have spoken out as well). Eventually, you got to fight back for what is yours.

Call off the Corgi. A dangerous animal like that is too provocative. Gawd I miss Ann Arbor.
September 30th, 2014 at 7:21 PM ^
They did not show up? This has been an ongoing problem that the AD has not been able to fix. Fire him.. The chant " down with Dave" , I thought being 'down' with something was a good thing, no?

If you watched the MichiganDaily livestream it seemed to be 400-500 people there at least at its cresendo. At one point during the broadcast chants from students on the lawn were overtaken by those behind and easily 200 hundred stood on Schlissle's doorstep.
