With about 3.5 weeks until NSD, where do stand with recruits
OK, we all know this is a crazy time of year for recruiting and things are starting to come pretty fast. I seem behind in my knowledge. This is what I think is happening as of 1-10-10:
Dillon Baxter de-commits from USC and wants RR to do an in home ASAP (Per Beaver on WTKA).
Murphy, once a "silent commit" has verballed to Maryland
Murphy's teammate Grimes, another once "silent commit" has put out info saying that he's cooled on UM. Looks like an Ole Miss - UM battle. Hopson leaving for Memphis has been the factor for both Murphy and Grimes disinterest.
Sean Parker is still looking good for a M commit.
Drake and Witty are out.
Now we get into the crazy stuff.
There is a "secret" OL that is very conflicted on where he wants to go. He's seriously considering UM but doesn't want that to get out.
UT soft commit LB Thompson? was considering UM. Is this still true or has that cooled.
Rashard Knight is back in the picture.
Jibreel Black is strongly considering us, but is being recruited by Kelly @ ND now.
Anything I'm missing or wrong on? Any thing else someone wants to add?

The Thompson guy your referring to is really Michael Taylor from UT. And yes supposedly interested in UM.

I think the combination of Hopson leaving, plus Murphy committing to Maryland leaves us on the outside looking in. TomVH said he didn't have a good feeling about it also.

And what about T. Wilson's DT teammate, Chandler, who is currenlty committed to the Leavitt-less S. FLorida Bulls.
I think we need a 2nd OL commit this class... too much pressure in 2011 to get at least 4 if we only take 1 this year

business just pure speculation. It seemed like there were some direct quotes from Grimes about high interest and Murphy about wanting to go to the same school, but the silent commit thing was nothing more than opinion and conjecture right?

He has a show called the recruiting roundup. When he says he has a gut feeling, he knows something and it usually means they are UM bound. He had a gut feeling on both announcing on signing day, but later changed that when Hopson left for Memphis.

With the spots that have opened up with Witty and Drake there is sure to be a guy or two we havent heard of, or havent heard much about that ends up committing in my opinion. For a while it looked like we werent going to be able to take all the guys that wanted to come, but now it looks like we might be able to get some guys that werent origionally talking about.

Dillon Baxter. IMO, it's a long shot but Michigan is right there for his service. If USC doesn't find a coach quickly, he may decommit USC and go somewhere else. Florida is a school to watch out for.
With that being said, Baxter really likes Michigan and would be a great addition to our class.
