A2 or UM based beer names?

Submitted by Gobluecheese on
A couple UM grads I know are opening a brewery in Traverse City. "Earthen Ales". It should be open this fall, so if you're gonna be in the area, you could stop in and check it out. No, it won't be UM themed, but I drank their home brews for years in Ann Arbor before their move, so I can vouch for their beer. Any suggestions for A2 or UM based beer names? https://www.earthenales.com/crowdfund/

Certainly you could work in some colloquiallisms of mgoblog lore, ie., Gerg's Beaver Brown, Muppets malt, Tacopants porter, Lloyd Brady lager, Henri's ennuyeuse India pale ale, the list goes on.

Right. There's obviously other issues that you'd want an attorney for anyway, but beer names is an issue in the industry http://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2015/01/05/369445171/craft-brewers-… It's actually a running joke with some in the industry that I knew back in the day. If you notice some of the smaller scale Michigan ones are pretty unique, partly because the people who make the, are so unique. The trouble comes when you go with a "unique" name that isn't nearly as unique as you think, usually involving hops or some cute play on words for the beer type.
