I (and probably nearly everyone else to read your OP) were fully expecting a photo such as this:
...of your all-time #9 top Michigan athlete, Mike Hart.

older brother, who was also named Mike. They had a "George Foreman" like child naming thing in the Hart family, too. The only difference between the two, besides age, is the older Mike was bigger.

Assume it was discussed at the time, but if Michael Phelps is to be truly considered a Michigan athlete (I do not consider him so), how in fuck's sake is he not number 1?

I have a feeling this will be the first of several "WTF" rankings as we count down to #1.

I'd put him at 47. Or maybe 59.

Hart was good but this is too high. Part of his record breaking success was longevity....which is something the greats almost never have as they leave before eligibility is used up.
Love him but not top 10.

I see we are getting blinded by recency. No way is hart above oosterbaan.

Pretty sure he is taking the opposite position. "Because that's logical."

You gotta have Hart

Not sure where he should be ranked, but man he had impressive footwork, vision and balance. Just a reliable first down machine..and he blocked well and NEVER fumbled (well except in that one game...).

Hart's 4 years on the team were my 4 years as a student, so he'll always hold a uniquely high place in my ... heart (wah-wah). I'll never forget standing in the student section as a freshman & just boggling at how every single play, he somehow ended up w/ 2 more yards than I thought he was going to get. Not the fastest, not the biggest or strongest, but one of the cleverest & most determined runners you could ever ask for.

Wheatley better be ahead of him or this list is null and void.
