97.1 just dissed Mgoblog

Submitted by winterblue75 on

Lifetime score giver Matt Deary just said on air, "Mgoblog, whatever that is, is saying Pat Fitzgerald is in the mix."

Whatever that is? I know for a fact that during times of big UM news that they have gotten facts from Mgoblog and repeated them on air while giving zero source of where they got it from. News that at the time was only or first reported on Mgoblog.

What losers!

Hmmm...let's see.

Matt Dery: almost 15 years in Detroit and still no regular show. But yet he alluded to Mgoblog when talking about breaking the news about Lloyd Carr's retirement three years ago. Yeah, lots of credibility there.

Terry Foster: Writes columns about bringing Chris Webber and Derrick Coleman "home" to play with the Pistons. See last sentence about Dery above.

Mike Valenti: Uhhhh......do I really need to keep typing?

Your witness, counsel.

If Dery's doing well, it's probably because his wife/significant other is pulling in the dough. When Brandon Tierney was doing a regular show at WDFN he wasn't making $30K. Update Boy can't be paying too much more, 7 years later or so. And I doubt he's breaking the bank doing UD basketball. I think about 6 people listen to that.

I was in Michigan for nearly a week over the holidays and at no point did I have even the faintest desire to turn on 97.1.  Keep in mind, I am constantly bombarded with crap about the Jets and Yankees virtually every day here in NY, and have been yearning for any local news about my Detroit teams.  I think that says all anyone needs to know about the Ticket.

For one of my classes on politics in the US, we had a dude from AnnArbor.com come and talk about covering political news for the site.  The discussion went towards the new all-electronic format, so I posed a question about blogging, pointing out that blogs for certain niche markets were able to provide much more comprehensive and thoroughly-researched coverage of their topics of interest than newspapers pandering to the masses and their mercurial interests. I mentioned Michigan football to imply a comparison of MGoBlog to whoever the old douchey-looking guy they had for the Ann Arbor News on the subject.

The guy we had just smirked and made some derisive comment about a crackpot political blog he was aware of. Completely dodged the question, but was just condescending enough to get away with it... but those with keen mind in the audience were not fooled. Guest lecturer fail.

he must've spent enough time on the site to know that most of the people on here are absolutely ridiculous.  Everyone has a opinion...everyone is a comedian, and everyone lives and dies with each Michigan win or loss.  Pathetic...now if you excuse me, I am going to search for more miniscule recruiting tidbits and set up my Brady Hoke google alert while  i countdown until tickets go on sale for next year.
