"...when the ole' season is over, you and I know, it's going to be Michigan again; Michigan!"
Kid thinking about being a Michigan fan because of the Fab Five and how cool they looked. Ty Weatley and the winged helmets finding the end zone Made the decision easy for me!!!
this game ranks way up there for me too. I became a fan just a few years before this. special game thats forsure.

This game is the first Michigan game I remember watching and then a few months after watching the Fab Five in the Championship. This was the year that started my obsession and the beginning of my massive collection of Michigan memorabilia. From there on out it was always something Michigan for birthdays and Christmas.
Loved Wheatley. Seems like any time he scored a touchdown, it was at least a 50 yard run.
I often wonder what his final stats in this game would have been had he played the 4th quarter. He was sidelined because of back spasms.
Washington also got rewarded a phantom touchdown before the half on that 70 yard bomb by Mark Brunell. The ball flies out of the receiver's hands at the 2, it's recovered by us in the end zone yet the ref signals Washington touchdown anyway. Oy.

Go Blue! Always!
I remember watching the game and thinking we were about to witness a rushing record that will stand for decades. Too bad Ty got hurt otherwise I think he could have gone for 400 yards.
Reporter: “Did you visit the Parthenon while in Greece?”
Shaquille O’Neill: “I can’t really remember the names of all the clubs we went to.”
Funny you mention that play. When it happened I remember SCREAMING at my TV for at least a minute that the Pac 10 only needed to get to the 2 yard line to score. I was remembering the screw job we got back in 79 all too well. In bottom picture B1G ref on left.....Pac 10 ref on right. Even though the ball came loose somewhere between the 2-3 yard line and Michigan recovered....you can guess which ref won (and which team lost)!
One of my favorite players ever. He had Heisman Trophy talent, but had bad injury luck.
This game was HUGE. Washington had crushed us the year before. Wheatley looked like the fastest man alive in this game. Elvis was finishing up what seemd like his 15th season at Michigan.
Mark Brunell was STILL in the NFL as of last year. Wow.
“I am going to treat you all the same. Like Dogs.”
The Rose Bowl is 93 minutes long?
(The apostrophe should go to the left of the year - it represents the omitted numbers.)
how much money do you guys think i could get for a football used in the 1965 Rose Bowl win over Oregon State (34-7) that is signed by the whole team? just curious
put it up on ebay, lets find out.
that Wheatley touchdown was epic.
"Wheatley explodes....they won't catch him.....put it on the scoreboard!"
That, and "Wheatley could explode..."
Tyrone Wheatley was an excellent exploder, yes. Another player I loved watching.
"Funny isn't it, how naughty dentists always make that one fatal mistake."
