Negatives .... Donnal is really thin, to the point that I don't know if he should play this year. J-Mo & Horford still have bad hands. McGary's back ... arghhhhh. Irvin looked pretty raw, but physically ready. Walton looked pretty skilled, but undersized physically.

  • Yee buddy
  • Walton will take over the starting point guard position before Big Ten play starts.  Spike's stroke still looks pure and at times he looks more poised, but Walton is a better defender and is oh-so-creative.  Both will impress.
  • Irvin reminds me of THJr. his freshman year.  Good tools, just needs to work on decision-making.  But he's got a quick release, great athleticism.  Defensively he gets lost on off-the-ball screens sometimes, but experience will cure that.
  • You know what's awesome about that bullet?  THJr. was our second option offensively his freshman year.  Irvin looks to be our fourth option ON THE WING.  Stauskas, LeVert, and GRIII all look like they can fill it up quite well.  Without much pressure, Irvin will be able to pick his spots and I think he will come up big when we need him to.
  • LeVert will not average 10 assists a game this year.  But 4 is not out of the question.  He has great court vision and when he drives the defense cannot be sure whether he will pass or take it himself.  He still looks a bit skinny (and this could limit him offensively against some teams in the B1G) but defensively he looks like the monster we expected.  Quicker, long, and much better instincts this year.  We are going to be able to cause some fits with the length of LeVert, GRIII, Irvin,
  • Horford is Horford.  Long, suffocating defender who occasionally leaves his feet too early.  Not a great offensive player.  Good rebounder.  Size and rebounding is all we need him.
  • Morgan looks to have improved though.  Looked better shooting free throws and even looked comfortable dribbling the ball a little bit.  Between him and Horford, we should be able to weather McGary's storm.
  • Oh yeah, Mitch McGary didn't play and we won by 73.  Just thought I'd mention that.
  • At this point, Donnal should play over Bielfeldt.  I think this will be like the Vogrich/LeVert situation last year.  Vogrich's experience gave him the benefit of the doubt, but in the end the talent difference was overwhelming.  Donnal has a pure stroke from downtown, looks physically ready, is taller, and a heady offensive player.  I don't think he should redshirt.

Saw some highlights and read the box score. Happy to see Walton successful early. That poor kid might be compared to Trey for as long as he's at UM. I'm glad to see he didn't wilt under that pressure. We have tickets for Nov 8 -- can't wait to watch them play live!
