Last night was a great night at the Olympics for Black women from Houston named Simone.  I realize thats a pretty restricted sample size and yet here we are.

Wonderful stories for both of them and the last 50 Simone Manuel swum in that race was awesome.  Was shocked that the Campbell sisters didn't make the stand.

I normally get tired of superstars and the attention paid to them pretty quick.  Never, ever get tired of watching Phelps.  I don't know that anyone's ever dominated any sport as much as Phelps owns the pool.

Some athletes hold on as long as they can...some only do it if they think they can compete with the best. He strikes me as the type of guy who will do it only as long as he thinks he can be the best. He had something to prove this time around...a redemption tour,l If he manages to finish with two more golds...I think he's gonna be one of those that retires on top.

I think he just seems calmer this time around and there was the vague air of disappointment and controversy surrounding him in London. To me, this is actually going out on top for him and while it wouldn't be a surprise to see him in Tokyo, I don't feel like this would be a retirement born of exhaustion and frustration like the last one was.

Im so glad that I was able to be alive to witness it. I hope he continues in 4 years but that will put him around 35yrs old. Competing with 16 to 25 year olds will be very tough!

I really enjoy watching Phelps don't get me wrong but it's a little odd to me that they have races for different strokes. To me the breaststroke would be like watching a speed walking race on land. If freestyle is the fastest and it's a race then swim freestyle. But that's not even close to the silliness of some of the Olympic events.
