Today, the NCAA released its 2009-10 Academic Performance Program Public Recognition Awards for Division I list  and recognized six U-M teams.

  • The award highlights teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes and are among the top 10% of their sports in the most recent multi-year APR report.
  • Michigan teams recognized include: men's golf, men's swimming and diving, men's tennis, women's basketball, women's gymnastics and women's tennis
  • Michigan's six teams were second among Big Ten schools. Northwestern had 10 teams recognized.

Congratulations to all the student-athletes and their coaches for these awards.

...with your handle, I'm surprised you're so obtuse about this. Leaders and best is an ethos. It's not quantifiable based on this or that selected metric.

e·thos (ē'thŏs') n. The disposition, character, or fundamental values peculiar to a specific person, people, culture, or movement

Dude, you're on a F***ing sports website. i don't give a shit if its an ethos or not.  fucking nazi.  why don't you argue something against what i was talking about, not correcting the technical structure.  holy hell.  who gives a fuck if its an ethos or not.

the fact is, Michigan had 19 sports that Did NOT qualify for this honor.  why dont you talk about that?

Evanston, Ill (AP): Regents of Northwestern University, to celebrate more than half their teams winning NCAA Academic Performance Program awards, have commissioned new lyrics to its 97-year-old fight song. Proposed lyrics read:

Go U Northwestern!
Real leaders and best.
We think purple's bad-ass
But you think we are a pest,
U Rah! Rah!
Go!  U Northwestern!
Our alums are stinking rich,
Big Ten may beat us on the field
But we made the APR our bitch!

Is anyone going to argue what i'm talking about or are you just going to make fun of a team that won 2 more games last year in the Big 10 than Michigan has won in the last 2 years?
