6 spots left....

Submitted by cypress on

I think 20 will be the limit for this class..and I'm starting to think we just might get there. Right now we have:

RB Hayes
OL Miller
OL Posada
DT Rock
DE Heitzman
LB Beyer
LB Jones
LB Morgan
CB Countess (likely)
CB Hollowell
CB Taylor
FS Carter
S Brown
K Wiles

That leaves us with 6 to give out. Realistic possibilities are:
RB Rawls
WR Flowers
TE Barnett
OL Fisher
OL Bryant
DE Alexander
LB Clark
LB Willingham
LB Poole
CB McClure
FS Raven

And that is not including any QBs or DT's, both of which appear to be positions of need. So which 6 would you take, and which 6 appear most likely?

Of that group I'd be proud to see any of them go Blue though one of those LB's would be really nice. Way to salvage the class in no time. I'm feeling the Hoke-A-Mania.

Three commitments in 12 hours. Very damn nice day to be Blue.

I doubt we get Raven because he wants to stay down south. Countess is 50/50 at this point. So i guess I would replace Raven with Poole. I don't want to go LB because we are looking good for Jenkins-Stone, Taylor, and Ross in next years class.  If not Poole then probably Rawls.

I like Rawls and he looks like a legitimate prospect. However, I feel there are more pressing issues at other positions like OL and the secondary. We have to many tweeners (Safeties/OLB's) so the secondary needs to be handled.

I also don't know how we stand with the RB recruits in next year's class.  I've heard Detrick Goff is a stud and teammate of Justice Hayes,  but I don't know where he's leaning. I also know Mahone is a good prospect as well.

Also, I stated in another thread that when Rawls qualified, he took away Flowers or any other WR's spot in this class. There is nothing behind this, just pure speculation on my part. If I had to guess, I would say Rawls ends up blue.

Raven, McClure, Fisher, Bryant and Rawls then maybe a DT if that is possible. That would be an excellent finish for Hoke with such little time left. I am really excited to see what he can do with a full year of recruiting and hopefully a successful season in 2011  GO BLUE!!!!!

It's amazing what a difference Brady's blitzkrieg has made in a single week.  It seems that our gurus are counting on Rawls joining, which leaves maybe five more guys.  It would be nice if Flowers came our way tomorrow, since he is the sole remaining receiver prospect (that we know about), Lucien having been turned away.  Then we could just take the cream of the remaining crop that wants to come.  Not too bad, really.  That probably involves McClure, Raven, and Fisher.

I'd add DE Issaka to that list since it appears we offered him. It would also be nice if Hoke and Mattison flew out to CA and personally offered DT Heyward.

Poole, Bryant, Fischer, McClure, Rawls, and Clark. We need a DT, but what is out there that we have a legitimate chance at? And with BWC going back to DT do we absolutely need a DT in this class? What about QB???

Future Commits -

   Rawls

   McClure

   Raven

   Willingham

   Poole

Then the staff will make a decision whether they pick up the best available or go with highest need.   This situation is when I'm really glad Millen isn't involved.

Anyway this pans out, it's looking better than I was expecting.

I wouldn't count out Kris Frost and Anthony Zettel until they sign their LOI's.  BH and staff have been working the wizard hats and snake oil pretty well this past week.

Let's say we add McClure, Raven, and Fisher to the already committed list (including Countess for now).  According to Rivals, that would give us 6 4*s.  And the number could be higher, with Willingham, plus some of the others have 4* on other services (Kellen Jones, for instance).  That would put us, as I see it, in the top 20 recruiting classes, which would practically be a miracle given the circumstances.  Folks, this is good stuff.  Big time props to Brady and the boys (you too, Justice).

I hope we get rawls...besides steph Hopkins our running backs are small and ineffective or injury prone. Rawls has that combination of speed and power that should be perfect for big 10
