6 spots left....
I think 20 will be the limit for this class..and I'm starting to think we just might get there. Right now we have:
RB Hayes
OL Miller
OL Posada
DT Rock
DE Heitzman
LB Beyer
LB Jones
LB Morgan
CB Countess (likely)
CB Hollowell
CB Taylor
FS Carter
S Brown
K Wiles
That leaves us with 6 to give out. Realistic possibilities are:
RB Rawls
WR Flowers
TE Barnett
OL Fisher
OL Bryant
DE Alexander
LB Clark
LB Willingham
LB Poole
CB McClure
FS Raven
And that is not including any QBs or DT's, both of which appear to be positions of need. So which 6 would you take, and which 6 appear most likely?
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:24 PM ^
I don't know who is more likely than who, so I will just take all of them.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:26 PM ^
I like!

I'd like 2 OL in fischer and bryant, rawls, mcclure,Poole, and DT cooper.Barnett as backup plan, even though I'd really like to get this TE, more so than Heitzman
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:55 PM ^
recruiting worked liked that...
January 22nd, 2011 at 11:05 PM ^
It does in the Southeastern Conference...

Of that group I'd be proud to see any of them go Blue though one of those LB's would be really nice. Way to salvage the class in no time. I'm feeling the Hoke-A-Mania.
Three commitments in 12 hours. Very damn nice day to be Blue.

January 22nd, 2011 at 10:26 PM ^
I'd take Frank Clark in the six, mainly because he can play LB or TE, both of which could be argued as positions of need
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:26 PM ^
Not in a specific order but I'd go:
McClure, Willingham, Raven, Bryant, Fisher, and Barnett
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:31 PM ^
Would you really want to take seven DB's in this class? I know our secondary sucks, but that's way too many imo
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:42 PM ^
I doubt we get Raven because he wants to stay down south. Countess is 50/50 at this point. So i guess I would replace Raven with Poole. I don't want to go LB because we are looking good for Jenkins-Stone, Taylor, and Ross in next years class. If not Poole then probably Rawls.

I like Rawls and he looks like a legitimate prospect. However, I feel there are more pressing issues at other positions like OL and the secondary. We have to many tweeners (Safeties/OLB's) so the secondary needs to be handled.
I also don't know how we stand with the RB recruits in next year's class. I've heard Detrick Goff is a stud and teammate of Justice Hayes, but I don't know where he's leaning. I also know Mahone is a good prospect as well.
Also, I stated in another thread that when Rawls qualified, he took away Flowers or any other WR's spot in this class. There is nothing behind this, just pure speculation on my part. If I had to guess, I would say Rawls ends up blue.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:26 PM ^
Beyer projects to play DE, doesn't he?
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:36 PM ^
Hoke said he'd likely play OLB.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:41 PM ^
beyer seems pretty similar to Roh. we all saw how Roh at OLB turned out.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:46 PM ^
Beyer is a lot more athletic than Roh. Roh spent his whole HS career playing with his hand down and had tremendous pass rush skills. Beyer seems to be more fluid and versatile. Beyer could also play TE but I highly doubt it.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:27 PM ^
THat would work just fine.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:28 PM ^
That's a lot of D help in this class.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:28 PM ^
with Tate leaving?
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:30 PM ^
I was wondering the same thing.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:39 PM ^
Its 20 with Tate gone. RIvals had the breakdown and said it was 21 but they omitted Kovacs. Technically we could sign 22 by not bringing back Mike Williams or Watson for a 5th year. But then our 2012 class would start out at 13..and thats not good.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:29 PM ^
Raven, McClure, Fisher, Bryant and Rawls then maybe a DT if that is possible. That would be an excellent finish for Hoke with such little time left. I am really excited to see what he can do with a full year of recruiting and hopefully a successful season in 2011 GO BLUE!!!!!
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:29 PM ^
Do we have one more with Tate out now?
Definitely need a TE so Barnett.
Barnett
Fisher
Bryant
Rawls
Willingham(not TY)
Alexander
Would love to get McClure and Raven.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:31 PM ^
It's amazing what a difference Brady's blitzkrieg has made in a single week. It seems that our gurus are counting on Rawls joining, which leaves maybe five more guys. It would be nice if Flowers came our way tomorrow, since he is the sole remaining receiver prospect (that we know about), Lucien having been turned away. Then we could just take the cream of the remaining crop that wants to come. Not too bad, really. That probably involves McClure, Raven, and Fisher.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:32 PM ^
I'd add DE Issaka to that list since it appears we offered him. It would also be nice if Hoke and Mattison flew out to CA and personally offered DT Heyward.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:35 PM ^
Poole, Bryant, Fischer, McClure, Rawls, and Clark. We need a DT, but what is out there that we have a legitimate chance at? And with BWC going back to DT do we absolutely need a DT in this class? What about QB???
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:35 PM ^
Future Commits -
Rawls
McClure
Raven
Willingham
Poole
Then the staff will make a decision whether they pick up the best available or go with highest need. This situation is when I'm really glad Millen isn't involved.
Anyway this pans out, it's looking better than I was expecting.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:37 PM ^
Everyone seems to be forgetting a certain 11 star non-human recruit that is likely to win four heismans as a wolverine.
January 23rd, 2011 at 12:25 AM ^
Denard is already on the team. He'll win 2 Heismans each of the next 2 years.

Done.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:39 PM ^
I wouldn't count out Kris Frost and Anthony Zettel until they sign their LOI's. BH and staff have been working the wizard hats and snake oil pretty well this past week.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:44 PM ^
Not gonna happen. Definitely not for Zettel.
January 23rd, 2011 at 12:03 AM ^
Zettel's parents are HUGE Michigan fans. There is M gear hung all over their restaurant. I have not been there since he announced PSU but I cant imagine the parents dropping their love for M.

I would pee myself if we got Frost, doubt we'll get Zettel. I think we end up with McClure, Clark, Bryant, Barnett, Heyward. Then we bank the remaining 2 scholarships for next year. That would be an outstanding class under the circumstances.
January 23rd, 2011 at 12:01 PM ^
I like this thread, too bad we dont have more like it...I think we should bank at least 1 or 2 scholarships also for the amazing '12 class
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:41 PM ^
Let's say we add McClure, Raven, and Fisher to the already committed list (including Countess for now). According to Rivals, that would give us 6 4*s. And the number could be higher, with Willingham, plus some of the others have 4* on other services (Kellen Jones, for instance). That would put us, as I see it, in the top 20 recruiting classes, which would practically be a miracle given the circumstances. Folks, this is good stuff. Big time props to Brady and the boys (you too, Justice).
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:43 PM ^
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
Maybe. But hard to argue that RB should be one of the 6 remaining.
January 22nd, 2011 at 11:13 PM ^
You never turn down a guy with the size, speed, and power of Rawls.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:48 PM ^
Gotta beef up that line. Lovin' all that projected LB's though.
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:52 PM ^
Too bad we arent in the SEC. We could just sign 28 and figure it out later.
January 22nd, 2011 at 11:13 PM ^
Let's just selectively oversign some of their fans.
January 22nd, 2011 at 11:47 PM ^
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:53 PM ^
Correct, We need a BIG front.
Athletes mean nothing without a seam.
January 22nd, 2011 at 11:16 PM ^
Big front...good thing about that seam...
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:54 PM ^
is better than Christmas. All these awesome recruits and no relatives.
