But Saban can just greyshirt some guys to fit Poggi in! Still nervous! Still nervous!
landing spot. will be interesting to see how he does.
But Saban can just greyshirt some guys to fit Poggi in! Still nervous! Still nervous!
Poggi hasn't come out and outright squashed all rumors.
We have 4 major outlets and not one can get a quote?
Not really news, so I'll share it.....
TomVH said they don't answer any questions regarding the whole recruiting thing. So you won't get anything out of the family one way or another. Might be why the 247 guy likes to start rumors with Poggi, he knows it will have a longer life because no one will squash them.
I'm almost positive he gave interviews on his recruitment during the H.S. all-star game week. Squashed the Alabama rumors and had some nice things to say about his peers in the U-M class.
I agree that it's strange that he hasn't publically denied the Bama buzz this time around, especially since he, you know, visited there.
The only statement he really gave about his recruitment was a terse statement vehemently denying considering Bama. And the only reason he even gave that was because he really couldn't get away from reporters at the UA game. The Poggi's have generally shied away from the media throughout Henry's recruitment.
I think most of what came out during that week was from other recruits giving information from their conversations with Poggi, not him actually talking to the media.
Do people mean to say "quashed" when they are talking about disproving, suppressing or otherwise debunking an untrue assertion?
Offtopic even if it's a direct response to a post.
Need moer interior lineman. Poggi and Hurst bring both needed talent and depth.

Pay Today, Win Tomorrow!™
Your logic is solid...except Saban can always create scholarships out of thin air.
Poggi is/ was being recruited by Bama as a TE. Freakout re-commence.
Ah, I've fallen behind ever since we lost the steady stream of unassailable info from RDT.
You beat me to it. I thought I was gonna be the guy inside info for once.
The longer they hold onto Mack Brown, the deeper the hole will go for them. If they don't want Texas A&M to pass them for many years, its time to let him go, bring in a coach that will foster a competitive and aggressive football culture, and bring Texas back.
I'm excited that you're an MGoBlog member too!!!
The problem with Mack Brown is that, just when you think his coaching career is dead and buried, he comes up with a great year. His career is like a zombie in a bad movie.
This is gravely erroneous, there are no bad zombie movies.
Commence beginning of the end of the Poggi panic.
Rich rod experiment. Good luck and choose wisely.
Their defensive coordinator, Manny Diaz, was supposed to be the greatest thing since canned beer. talk about a disappointment.
he knows how to move on after Poggi told him no. . .
do they want him in a AJ Williams / pass blocking TE kind of way?
Texas finished with a better record than UM this season. If they are a "dumpster fire" what does that make Michigan?
We played a much more diffucult schedule. With all the in-state talent and reach into west coast and various parts of the South, there's no excuse for Texas. Imagine if McCoy doesn't get hurt on the first play back in 09. Texas probably wins and Mack isn't on such a hot seat. Still, OU has been to Texas what OSU was to us under Tressell. Remember when McFarland's mom said she was so put off by Brown that she told her son OU would be a better fit? I don't think UT goes the RR route. They just need some fresh young blood in there. Maybe Manny Diaz gets promoted? Young guy, minority so maybe he connects a little better with the kids he's recruiting?
Decline versus ascension.
Why is this flamebait?
lol....Texas' schedule wasn't even close to ours in terms in difficulty. Their OOC was Wyomind, Ole Miss, and New Mexico; their conference schedule was maybe the same as ours
Wyoming. No D.
Michigan in the same period:
And considering the comparison of recruiting classes and expectation of fans at the time, I think you can fairly say that Texas fans are much more disappointed about the state of their program. Michigan is coming from a much different place than Texas the past 3 years.
Look at our schedules, first off, and compare losses.
Second, they've got a coach that (while once great) seems to be losing his grip on the team and in-state dominance of recruiting. In the past they always got who they wanted as far as Texas recruiting; this year, they've completely crumbled.
Finally, we were a dumpster fire.. two years ago. Now we clearly are rebuilding under a new coach both on the field and in recruiting. This comparison is baseless.
P.S. They lost by 40 to their biggest rival.
Sumlin is not going to be there long term. There is a very good chance he will be in the NFL after next season. He had alot of schools looking at him and the extension he signed will do nothing to stop that.
Texas will be back at some point, but I really don't see it happening with Mack at the helm.
This sucks. I'm starting my MBA at UT in Aug., and I thought I could look forward to football Saturdays w/ the typical UT prowess. They grabbed the last two #1 RBs in the nation, but it seems like I should pack for some Alamo Bowls.
I'm not sure if anyone's noticing, but Alabama has recruited really well over the past few years. If they keep this up, they could turn into serious contenders for SEC and even national titles.
I will inform you here that this is insightful
A man's gotta get himself mgopoints
I think they already are...?
Not a surprise he flipped. A while back he was assumed to be a lock to USC. Interested to see if/how this affects Vanderdoes.
If Vanderdoes doesn't go to ND, expect a UCLA commit.
Yeah that's what I was thinking, as a UCLA fan I'm glad Bama is likely not a threat.
Texas should have seen this coming when the player's name is A'Shawn. Maybe they will have better luck with players named Tee or T'Kevian.
Maybe they should try and recruit his younger brother B'Shawn, or perhaps his cousin D'Shawn.
made me LOL. Best laugh I've had all day!
I think B'Shawn is a Boise State lean, and D'Shawn is also 5-star hoops recruit likely to sign with Duke. Now T'Shawn, on the other hand...
(Hopefully there is also an AA'Shawn).
I can't imagine they normally pull in less than half of that group
OU usually plucks a guy or two out of there.
They lost to OU, K State, West Va, and TCU. We lost to bama, ND, Neb, OSU, and SCar. Do you not see a difference in quality there?
edit: this was supposed to be in response to the guy who said we're a dumpster fire solely because they had a better record than us. I guess Northwestern was better than us this year too?
I think Northwestern was, than you Roy Roundtree...
That doesn't even make sense.
Even if Texas fires Mack Brown after this year, it won't take long for them to get back. They have the money to hire whoever they want, and there's still a lot of elite recruits in that state who grew up dreaming to play for UT.
But if they have another mediocre year, and especially one where they get manhandled by Oklahoma again, I don't think they can afford to wait around much longer to make a move. UT are undoubtedly impatient, and A&M is quickly staking its claim for in-state talent.
I believe they were predicted to get Dee Liner as well, that's quite an impressive haul (although not very surprising considering the on field success.)
I read that Liner is taking a surprise! visit to Georgia, so.... who knows.
You hear? Translation: feeling inadequate on a snowing Saturday and decided to troll boards for random Internet speculation and found a juicy thread with no concrete evidence to support said speculation.
Why don't you claim something based on a recruiting analyst and then say that it was you who actually knew first and rage that they are plagiarizing you!
Hand planted on forehead with a big L sign...
Is Bama's run ever going to end? Seriously! Saban not bolting to the NFL after 3 championships in 4 years leads me to believe he will finish his career at Alabama. Kirby Smart could of probably had his pick of college head coaching jobs or NFL defensive coordinator jobs yet he stays at Alabama. It seems if he is being groomed to be Saban's replacement. The real question is how many more championships does Alabama win in the next 5 years? I will say 3.
See Saban leaving for only a few jobs in all of America...
And an NFL team that may call and is ready to win now, like New England, Houston (doubtful), and that's about it...maybe Green Bay.
Can do the same thing at Texas at USC. Nick Saban doesn't stay forever anywhere...he'll go somewhere soon, Texas is a big time program that will have an opening soon, tons of talent in Texas and they can offer mucho money. USC? I don't think I need to say anymore. Saban will eventually leve Bama, he will want one other challenge. I think the NFL for a team that is close is probably the best bet, who knows though, the NFL didnt seem to be to his liking last time though, hence Texas or USC possibly.
Follow Saban, it's not like Alabama itself brings in great players. My point is at some point he's going to get tired of Bama and if he wants to stay in college, I could see him being interested in Texas or USC because they are storied programs that could be fixed quick but need a little life currently.
If Saban ever leaves Bama it'll be for the NFL, and even then, it'd need to be for a top-flight organization like the Packers or the Pats. I wouldn't be shocked if Belichek asks Saban to take over whenever he decides to retire.
Why would Saban ever leave leave Bama for another school? He's built one of the greatest football dynasties ever and has his pick of the litter as far as recruits go. Besides, any school that could pay Saban what he'd want, Bama would match. It's not like that school would want to invest in much else.
This question is always asked of great dynasties. It was asked about USC, Miami, and Nebraska going back. It will be asked of Michigan someday. The answer is always: Yes.
The end is usually triggered by a coaching change or trouble with the NCAA.
i'll sell 3
Guy transfer back to Texas after next season when Saban is the new Longhorn coach? I only joke, but could see Saban going there after Texas offers like 10 million a year.
Muschamp supposed to be browns successor before Florida came a callin.
And you can bet if Texas is looking next season, Saban will get a call and could get between 8-10 million...
Saban isn't going to jump ship like that. If he ever leaves Alabama (which is very likely in the next year or two, imo) he is going to the NFL. Then, when he flames out again, he might go to Texas.
Heard Poogi is considering taking a greyshirt with Alabama
Nah, they're saving that for Ty Issac.
No one knows what Poggi is considering. The latest thing to pop up on the Bama boards was that Poggi was offered a grey-shirt and would get a full scholly if Bama doesn't get their #1 targets. The Poggi's haven't commented on anything so no one really knows what he's actually thinking of doing.
Any sources for this?? Just seems unlikely he would take a greyshirt anywhere.
If the coaches don't Perdue him, it's either because they feel our LB situation is fine how it is, or they're avoiding the whole drama situation around him. Plus, doesn't UM not have his desired major?
Aren't we pretty well-stocked as far as linebackers go?
Bama pulls top 3 classes basically every year.
Saban grinds to assemble great classes against some tough (and dubious) programs and sells the "play in the biggest games and become NFL ready".
I don't want him at UM, but his recruiting and winning dynasty is impressive.
Or top recruiting classes = winning 3 national championships in 4 years?
dumpster fire by destroying its league, and sending its arch rival to the SEC where they will out-recruit tu every year.
Et tu, tu?
Seems like good news for Poggi. However, I won't stop panicking until he faxes in his LOI.
I thought this kid was going to play OT at UT? Are we sure he’s going to play DE at Bama?
Also I thought Bama was recruiting Poggi to play H Back/ TE? Saban’s two gap 3-4 would be a horrible fit for him. He’s a one gap player.
A'Shawn? These names get weirder and weirder
I really really really fucking hate Alabama.
That is all.
