While he certainly did "guarantee" a win over Ohio State in 1986, and he antagonized Pete Carroll while he was at Stanford, he has also evolved with time.

I suppose he may still get his digs in from time to time, but with the intent of motivating his own squad moreso than poking Urban or Mark with a stick.

Go Blue!! I know it's been days since people floated out 99%, but it's still tough to wrap my head around. We just got the hottest coach out there in his prime! Good God Go Blue!!!!

For those who watched Harbaughs press conference after the game, did anyone get the sense he seemed eager, even happy(strange grin appeared shortly after he answered whether he was going to Michigan's next coach)?

No, I didn't get that sense. He seemed a bit tired, perhaps; maybe even a little melancholy. But what I did find interesting was that he didn't really express any regrets about not winning the Lombardi Trophy. He simply indicated that's what they play for every game.

Lots of reasons why he might have expressed his thoughts in that way, but I still found it the most interesting of all his responses.

The server is ready to blow lol.

FWIW a sports management attorney tweeted that due to the "speed" of the 49ers "release" is telling that the UM contract is signed, sealed, and delivered.

i'll admit, as a total nervous nellie about this coaching search i found great comfort in reading the press release directly from the 49ers.  after the way the last two searches got muddled up, cant put into words how pleased I am with Hackett, Schlissel et al for getting this done.  now, if the U could put one out ASAP announcing Jim that'd be great for all our sanity and close out the 0.00000000000001% chance of 'its not done yet' in my mind

board #5 guys ("edge of the internet) - and they have been stunningly accurate for most of this search - say players are told tmw morning via teleconference, dinner tmw night with regents, former players, Jim's family and friends, Tuesday 1 pm press conference, the. basketball game. Guy named fermiami over there. Have to imagine there's a statement released some time before that dinner, but what the hell do I know

ESPN mobile app had a write up where they quoted the 49ers and Harbaugh exchanging very positive comments. Then they added their spin of negativity, which I'm sure has been posted many times. Eff them

To me, Atlanta and jets are most worrisome. Jets fixing coach and GM makes me nervous, even though the belief is that jets ownership doesn't like Harbaugh. I am not going to be able to sleep until this is official. If Jim backs out we will be the laughing stock of the world, and for once I just want to celebrate something meaningful.

The contact is not signed. I am still extremely weary of celebrating pre-maturely. I'm sure the NFL is going to try and fuck this up for us. There are more than a couple teams that are pouncing on Jim as we speak. Until he signs the deal, anything can happen. I have witnessed Michigan fuck up too many times to celebrate.

Since its impossible to get out anything without getting blocked....I'lll say that I wanted to support G. Gabriel and he blocked me... Tim Kawakami is a greater human.
