as I live in the NYC metro area, possible you can add a few WFAN Sports Talk Radio gasbags to your list who were dismissive and derisive of Hackett and his approach to securing Harbaugh? s/ Specifically - -

Marc Malusis: started as a gopher for morning coffee for Mike Francesa and Chris Mad Dog Russo and who for some whoa begotten reason the station assumed he qualified to be on air as a sports pundit.  He trashed Hackett for using the same search firm as the Jets clearly exposing his misunderstanding of how a search firm work in that it is the client who makes the hiring decision not the head hunter.

Kim Jones, Malusis on air parot, er partner, -- see above. Jones is still trying to figure out the difference between a hot rock and a hockey puck. Why she is even sitting at a mic defies any iota of logic. Together they are classic dumb and dumber.

And finally Boomer Esiason, who like all the other NFL pundits said noway Harbaugh will leave the NFL for college.

yes, more than 8 million, which indicates a bidding war... and in the same breath says that the Raiders couldn't tamper, but made their demands known through channels. So Raiders could not tamper and did not tamper, but did somehow engage in a bidding war for Harbaugh. In addition, this guy claimed that the $8M offer was what he originally reported. Go ahead and take that credit right away from the Pequeno guy in Arizona.

but it's so ridiculous I'm repeating it here: in an ESPN.com article posted about the departure of Harbaugh after the 49ers game:

"Harbaugh has been linked to several coaching vacancies and expected openings in recent months, including the job at the University of Michigan, his alma mater."

"Linked?" WTF? If this was the only thing somebody read about the situation, they'd conclude that Hackett has been sitting in his office with his feet up on the desk taking a month-long nap.

Get Jim Harbaugh

Yup. I really hope he doesn't do anything silly like that. We don't want to give OSU bulletin board material. Jim knows he has a lot of work to do and it still might be two or three years until we beat OSU and actually remain competitive with them, not only in terms of beating each other, but overall wins, too. Just go out there, do the work, and beat them without saying anything extra. Beating those spoiled pricks hurts more than anything.
