A third drop, this time by senior Fowler. I don't think they have a solution to that problem at this point.

Announcers said RS freshman R. Bullough was the first draft pick at RB.  lol.  He looks like a taller, less shifty/athletic (if that's possible) white fullback guy from Iowa last year.

Defense with more points than the offense right now haha. Kirk on the Sparty schedule, "what I think is going to be tough is at Notre Dame and at Nebraska." I suppose the Michigan game won't be tough at all....

Very nice catch in traffic by Arnett .  Poor decision by QB Cook to throw into double coverage.  Arnett came open by pushing DB who was right in front of him in the back.

Are Dennard and Lewis playing?  May have been held out.  Also don't remember seeing Denicos Allen.

Their interior DL is terrible, but the LBs fill so quickly they can still stop the run.  Play action passing with TEs and WRs who can beat single coverage is the key to beating them.  Our offense should be much better prepared to put up points this year.

LBs can only do so much when the DL sucks. Remember Demens last year against AFA when he couldn't get free? He did nothing. That will be MSU's LB corps for much of the year. And you're right about PA. If the LBs fill that hard, they'll always bite hard on PA. And if play action is working, the LBs will need to back off some.

Their DL looks much worse than last year.  LBS look very good.  DBs don't look very good but that might just be becausethey're missing Dennard and Lewis.  The only good player on offense is Burbridge.

MSU has a very solid receiving corps (when they catch the ball) but I think their OL will struggle again this year and they have no RB to come close to what they had with Bell. Pretty telling that they had to convert a RS LB for the Spring to RB.  Their defense will still be a strength and will be at the top of the B1G with ours and OSU's.  Back 7 is pretty stout but I think the DL will be their weakness.

They'll just grind out games and play with the unmitigated rage and lack of self-control that is a hallmark for a second-tier B1G program trying to extrapolate two good years into a trend of future domination.  That defense is okay, but even last year it felt like a unit that relied on hyper-aggressive play with solid players at most positions.  This year they'll have the same intensity but the talent won't be there at all positions.

I disagree on your assessment of their DL.  Their ends are as good as any in our conference with Calhoun and Rush.  They also have a pretty good space-eating DT in Reynolds.  They won't have the talented depth like we have this year but I'd compare the overall ability to slightly above what we had last year.

Rush has been overrated on this blog for some time.  He's good, but solid-good.  Not difference-maker good.  And who the hell is Calhoun?  Drone was the 3rd DE for them last year, and I'd expect he starts this year.  As much as we criticized Tom Gholston, I think he's better than either of them.

All teams rotate interior DL nowadays, and Hoover, Lawrence Thomas (yes, former 5* LB), and Kettridge are below average, even if Reynolds is OK as an anchor.

Some idiots in our apartment complex decided that celebrating this day required them to scream their fool heads off and jump around for 3 hours.  Angry BronxBlueWife screaming at them about having a Ph.D. defense this week quieted them quite a bit,  Mind you, they are all rather large people.

Relevance to football?  Zero.  But if Jake Ryan isn't ready to go late in October, a 5'3" 100lb hellcat with (I hope) elegibility remaining could be a nice stopgap.
