30,000th point
I just saw that Michigan is likely to score the 30,000th point in its history during the UConn opener. According to the comments section from the "Rodriguez waters the turf" article linked on MGoLicious, we stand at 29,998. With any luck, we'll start the game with a safety and get to 30,000 evenly.
I did a quick Google search and could not independently verify the total points number, and with over a thousand games played, it is probably not exactly accurate, but I'm gonna go with it anyway.

Start with a touchdown. 30005 is better than 30000.
Ahem, that's 30,004. Touchdowns are only worth 6.

I typically count the extra point--which may be a poor idea this year.
Mea culpa.

We'll just go for (and make) two point conversions.
We need that extra "1" on the end of the number for Fritz Crisler, after all.

While I yield to no one in my admiration for Fritz Crisler and embrace of Michigan Tradition, I'll take the touchdown, thanks.
Brian has way more points than that. The real question, however: Can Magnus reach 30,000 points before the team does.
August 5th, 2010 at 10:02 PM ^
I gave Brian a 20k boost the other day. I felt dirty for passing him.
August 5th, 2010 at 10:22 PM ^
How long before Magnus passes him?
August 6th, 2010 at 12:00 PM ^
"Formerlyanynymous passes Brian, astounds medical science". I mean, really, I've heard a microscopic kidney stone is bad enough.

double post.
It's so sad that I thought this was going to be about Mgopoints.
thought this post was about Magnus? Seriously, I'm not even kidding.

I thought the same thing. It's not that bad.
August 5th, 2010 at 10:31 PM ^
so did I. I don't feel so stupid now. Thanks, guys.

First thing I thought was, "Wow, somebody is spending way too much time on MGoBlog." Of course i'm not sure that's possible.

so either i'm not as big a loser as i thought i was, or it's good that i have other people who are huge losers with me
August 5th, 2010 at 10:47 PM ^
I'll admit that I did as well. We need to collectively get another life.
August 5th, 2010 at 11:35 PM ^
add me to the list.

Embrace who you are but then for the love of God find a women to embrace as well.

cuz even tho i feel like a loser for this, i still have a full-time job and a girl...how DO i manage....
August 6th, 2010 at 10:35 AM ^
I think there are many, many more....
Does anyone know if we are the highest scoring team in history? I rather doubt it, since we historically did not win with stupefying offenses, but it would be interesting to know.

First five seasons under Yost, Mich outscored its opponents 2,821 to 42, earning the nickname "Point-a-Minute."
Bo's teams were generally very prolific offensively as well. In the '70s, OSU would often be the only conference game we were held under 30 (if not 40). Gary Moeller's teams also scored quite a bit.
...total team points is accurate.

according to the College Football Warehouse we are only at 29940.

2nd place - Oklahoma has already hit the 30k mark.
...as well. I'll go with MGoBlue.com as the definitive source on Michigan sports records. Their collaboration with the Bentley Historical Library for the maintenance of the University's athletics history gives their record keeping additional credence in my estimation.

Likely?? If we don't get to the 30,000th point against Uconn, there will one big broken TV in my livingroom and I'll have to get out the sackcloth again.
August 5th, 2010 at 10:38 PM ^
if michigan doesn't score it's 30,000th point that day...there wil be...a lot of broken faces around me
August 5th, 2010 at 10:52 PM ^
... we should reach 30,000 with no more than 13 minutes remaining in the 1st quarter.
Book it.

in November against ohio state.
August 5th, 2010 at 11:55 PM ^
1002/12=83.5 points/game
Sounds a little pessimistic.
Actually he just said we would hit 31k against OSU, but what he didn't say was that we would actually hang 124 on them, so by the end of the OSU game, our ppg will be a little above 83.5

Which November?
30,000 + 1 for Crisler, like the seating capacity.
Let's just win the game. I'll pay more attention to point number 40,000, which will come after we've won so many national titles that we'll need new challenges.
