3-3-5 North, 3-3-5 South
I am watching ball this afternoon and have seen both Michigan State and Auburn use 3-3-5 D at one point or another against their opponents. Not all of the time. Nor do I claim that anyone on either team declares himself a disciple of anything. Just taking note, and wondering what all the damned ruckus is about on the part of some of our fan base about said defensive scheme.

The ruckus is because the 3-3-5 will obviously never work in the Big Ten. Duh.

To me a 3-3-5 is a spread defense. I get a spread offense, but a spread defense? Not buying it.

so it is not that big of a deal. If you look at the UFR everyone needs to relax, UM is not pro set anymore on O or D, we just need the athletes.

Basically, what it goes to show is that there are a lot of ignorant fans who have no idea what they're talking about.

I don't buy the scheme or system whoever uses it. Coaches married to a system are stupid. Heard it said before, "we don't want that 320lb offensive lineman because he doesn't fit our scheme". Well fine, but just get used to him lining up against you at Iowa, Tenn, or Bama, cause he's gonna be kickin your butt for the next 4 years.

First, who or what are you talking about? Second, I don't see anyone at Tennessee kicking anyone's butt for the next four years.

I've yet to hear a real coach explain why the 3-3-5 isn't a good defense against the run.
October 23rd, 2010 at 10:25 PM ^
there's a reason for that.

3-3-5 in the south is much much faster, their DLs are as quick as our CBs. They are also stronger as it has been proven that the abundance of yellow sun makes SEC players faster than other BCS players. They could run a 1-1-9 and still stop any rushing offense from the non-SEC schools.

That's so correct, southern Ds run on photosynthesis. Surprised no one has never figured that out before.

what about schools in the ACC, Big 12, and Pac 10 that are located in sunny states? Teams like...FSU, Miami, Clemson, all Texas schools, Arizona and Cali teams (minus USC).
Also, wouldn't that theory make Southern NFL teams so much quicker?
October 23rd, 2010 at 10:21 PM ^
nope, because only SEC schools have the fantastic academics that allow them to have developed the research techniques that allow defenses to run via photosynthesis.
duh!

did come from Gainesville. Who knew they were going from studying electrolytes to photosynthesis? Fascinating stuff.

It's not the sunshine...it's the moonshine that makes them fast.

Michigan has barely run a 3-3-5 in the last two weeks.............not much has changed.
