2plankr, please change your topic; you're inducing extra panic

The NCAA has cleared Ohio of additional allegations on one specific instance that they're investigating: Tatgate. The cars, the golf, etc, etc, are not a part of this. Besides that, they're still a repeat offender and their punishment has not been handed out yet.

Panic less, describe more.

But, will the NCAA investigate the cars, golf, sorority girls, etc.?

They're making a ruling and assigning punishments in August (10th? 12th?). But they've notified the school what they won't be finding. Being late July I don't find that too surprising. I'm sure they have a pretty good idea what direction this is going by now.

From the Dispatch article:

The NCAA also reported that it investigated a Sports Illustrated report that identified nine additional players as selling OSU memorabilia to tattoo-parlor owner Edward Rife and interviewed the athletes, but confirmed only one as dealing with the man who is soon to be sentenced on marijuana-trafficking charges.

http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2011/07/22/ncaa-ohio...

Odd that the Dispatch has a link to the Tressel transcript but not to the NCAA's letter. It'd be nice to know exactly what the NCAA said, instead of relying on the newspaper's interpretation.

On second look, maybe it isn't odd: they FOIA'd the transcript so of course they would have a copy.

I want to know how circumstantial evidence can be used to sentence a murderer to death; but some on this site are saying the NCAA needs "a paper trail" or what they call "proof"; as if circumstantial evidence cannot constitue enough proof to result in an NCAA finding to take away scholarships and bowl participation from an obviously blatant abuser.

I will be surprised if THE Administration of Ohio doesn't get axed into the dustbin of history, etc.

We should panic. Looks like postseason ban is out:

"What does this mean for Ohio State? Well, no school has ever received a postseason or television ban without being hit with the 'failure to monitor' charge, and the odds of Ohio State facing such a punishment are now essentially non-existent."
