LSU had been in control of that game, in spite of the score. Those two fumbles are the difference.
2nd Half: Night games thread
If lsu pulls this off, osu is going to the title game.
FSU/OSU then? Though if Baylor wins out I bet the computers put them ahead of OSU which would give them a solid hold on #2
Insane rain at the Virginia Tech vs Miami game. Also, no way ND loses to Pitt.
Texas gets within 3. Now down 23-26
Miami getting spanked by a so-so VT team. I wonder how far they fall if they end up losing?
No one saw/watched it. So who knows.
I'm waiting for the Michigan game replay. I'm a sadomasochist. Afterwards, I'm going to jump into the Detroit River with a Meijer plastic bag rubber banded around my face. Should be a good ending to a night.
Good to see you posting again jhackney.
Overall, LSU has really been moving the ball quite well - 232 yards in the first half over 33 plays, which is a shade over 7 yards per snap on average. Zach Mettenberger is 10-13 for 173 yards with 1 TD. Interestingly, Travin Dural has only caught one pass and has the only recieving TD.
If LSU can do that again, but minus the fumbles, they should win by at least 7. Still, easier said than done.
I don't buy into Bama as the #1 team this year, so I'm hoping LSU can keep it together here.
but motherfuck me if Ohio St plays for the National Title because other teams lose.
would be ahead of OSU.
Night and day difference between them and Michigan. We aren't even close to elite, not that this is some revelation.
I would love to have a strong-armed pro style quarterback like Mettenberger or a game manager like McCarron.
This is big boy football. Both teams would destroy Ohio State, as well as the rest of our shitty conference.
Cam Cameron plz?
Why would he leave LSU for here? This makes as much sense to me as people clammoring for Les Miles to leave LSU for here. That's a huge step downward.
That stop on 4th was such a sweet individual play. Wow.
Gutsy call by Saban.
Watching Hoke presser. He likes the play calling
Stanford did it to Oregon for an entire game. They decided they were tougher than Oregon and decided to ram the football down their throat for 40 minutes. Not saying that we can or should be doing this at the moment, but it certainly is possible.
I hope that is just "coach speak". If he really believes that I just don't know what to think.
Of course it is coach speak. Most good coaches don't throw their staff under the bus in a post-game presser. If they do, it's a media firestorm. Nothing to be gained by saying any differently.
Maybe my second-favorite Lloyd moment of all time was 2003 at MSU when Michigan abandoned a dominant run game late to try a bootleg play-action pass that was blown up for a fumble-scoop-score that pulled MSU back into the game.
At the end Lloyd was interviewed for television.
Reporter: "Coach, who made the call to pass on that play?"
Lloyd: "I did."
Watching Bama run is depressing.
I know everyone hates to hear it but that level of football top to bottom is impressive.
That drive was legit.
The Texas/WVU is a shoot out. Trading TD's. 40-37 WVU
Dammit Bama better win this game. If OSU sneaks it's way into the title game....
Then again, I'd love to see OSU and it's fans get a damn reality check.
Only ours come against crappy B1G teams.
Don't worry, we play a good B1G team in a couple of weeks, I'm sure it will be even better then.
How about UCLA vs. Arizina huh? You know, if Arizona loses they will have the same record as Michigan.
Yeldon is a beast.
Yes. Bama knows how to just run the fucking football.
Texas about to win this game.
I would like that
I guess I jinxed it. Going for the tie to force OT.
UT/WVU Going to OT barring total breakdown on the KO
defense giving up 40. Hahaha.
On the other hand, he needs to give Holgerson some hairstyling tips.
Dangerous pass by LSU.
and again!!! on Rees's next pass.
for leaving Florida. Saban and Miles just bring it every game. Urbz has no equal in the B1G.
He has no equal but he knows the weak conference will hurt him overall. I think that is why he made the comment about other schools stepping up their recruiting.
but this year if teams slip up, he gets in the NC.
And for the future, just has to be top 4.
Both QBs have been really efficient so far, too.
Bama-LSU. If they're not going to call targeting on THAT, rip the damn rule right out of the book.
Watching any other team run makes me think Fitz is afraid to hit the hole.
It is just weird to see a running back keep going once he gets to the first level.
I'm sorry. What hole have you been seeing our O-Line opening up for Fotz?
TD Pitt. Hope they can hold on.
Texas wins. Good thing they didn't fire Manny Diaz.
I wonder if LSU fans/posters are bitching and complaining and jumping ship like half the people on this board? Same record as us, just wondering!
have hated every coach they've ever had, even Sabin. There currently at least 3 sites/blogs dedicated to fireing Les Miles.
Tiggerdroppings closes down during and after the games for a few hours. 'cool down' time probably.
From the gist of what I did read their fans are wondering why they can't be elite like Bama.
Brian Kelly hates Tommy Rees.
I hate Brian Kelly at this point.
Pitt D needs to step up.
Pitt craping the bed, just like last year. Unbelievable.
Saban was smiling.
He jumped into AJ's arms.
That is just crazy.
Pitt was clearly a half of a yard short. Seems like refs have been horrible this year spotting across college football, and worse yet it was somehow upheld on replay.
ND got like three seasons worth of luck last year. I don't feel sorry for them.
Still like to simple things like that be called right though. It was clear on the replay that he was at least a half a yard short. Spot was wrong by a full yard. The fact that the replay booth didn't change it even though it was clearly wrong is even worse. I don't remember seeing a year since I have been watching college football where spots have been wrong this often.
Not that the odds were in ND's favor even if they would have got the ball back with 20-30 seconds on the clock, but still a game shouldn't end on a spot that is clearly wrong.
That spin and flip and then fumble into the endzone by Arizona just looked crazy. Had I not seen it and only heard it described would have not believed it.
watching their offense "execute" is fun. just run, run, run down the field.
Just attack, attack, attack, never stop pressuring the defense with base plays and constraints for everything to keep them from cheating. What I love about it is that it's got a defined philosophy. I like that about Stanford and Alabama, too, not just spread teams-- I like when there's a commitment to a philosophy and some evidence that offensive football is not just isolated plays.
I was thinking about all that when I read postgame comments from Nebraska defenders describing how they always knew what was coming. Jeebus.
Let's not romanticize the past. I definitely remember MSU and Ohio defensive players saying the same about us when we had RichRod. His offenses never did much against those two. They certainly had no trouble jumping our snap count.
the offense moving the ball fairly well in that 2010 game against OSU. The problem was they sabotaged their own drives in that game with turnovers, penalties, etc.
He's right though, about UM's offense lacking any kind of coherence in playcalling that you see with the more well run offenses in the country.
UCLA has a freshmen linebacker running all over the place as a running back and we can't get a senior running back to do the same?
their guys look like they've been coached.
UCLA has a super young OL too if I remember....
Great game. I love being on the west coast where I can stay up for these things I used to miss :)
job getting pressure only rushing 3.
Every play seems like they get a hand on Hundley
I wish there was a way for the game to go into overtime. It's pretty fun to watch.
Wow, if UCLA loses, they are going to be pissed over that facemask no-call.
ever not win the national title again? They fricken run the ball, i hate the SEC but am beginning to like watching Bama. They are so well coached, their offensive line just dominates. although it sounds like Saban may listen to Texas in the offseason.
