24/7 Says UM Still In It for Jake Raulerson

Submitted by CincyBlue on

We got a board update yesterday that Jake was not admitted into the UCLA graduate programs that he preferred.

The Scouts article said this about him re-considering Michigan:

Even though he was told he'd be accepted into graduate programs at Stanford, Michigan and North Carolina, it appears that there aren't spots open for the graduate transfer at this late date.

24/7 said this today:

Michigan and North Carolina also remain transfer options, a source close to Raulerson told Horns247.

So there seems to be a chance.

Would be a nice addition for depth, but it seems unlikely that we could get him through graduate admissions this late in the game. We also seem to have the starting O-line pretty set in stone, though obviously he would be a welcome rotation piece.

He was accepted into a different graduate program at UCLA but declined because it wasn't the degree he wants. So clearly, the degree is what matters to him. Not necessarily where he fits on the depth chart, as he would have started at UCLA. With that being said, I'll point out the obvious. Michigan degree > SMU degree.

Im hoping that maybe the fact that we didnt sell him a load of bs about his chances to get into Ross give us a shot of working him into a different program and onto the roster.

probably would still be his preference, but he isn't getting into any of the top MBA programs at the Power 5 schools he's interested in (UNC, UM, UCLA).  He said he wants to go into sports management, not necessarily get an SM degree.  A top ranked MBA is probably better for that field than a SM degree anyway which is why he preferred that route.  But without that an option, he's probably thinking SM degree is Plan B.

That was his second choice at UCLA. It's not that hard to make room for one more in that program (tougher for UCLA because the program is brand new this upcoming fall,) although if he's not an ace at math he should not try it.

I liked him when Hoke recruited him.. .then less when he and father diss the Texas coaches for playing time....and less when he chose UCLA over us... even if he allows Cole to kick back to LT, I gotta wonder about him.
