2017 GA RB commit Kurt Taylor transfers from Newton Co. to Grayson HS

Says he wants to graduate early and compete for a championship.  Both jobs done with this move.  Grayson's program is much better than Newton's, at Georgia's highest level of high school football.  It's also worth noting that Newton County schools do not have a early graduation program, while Gwinnett County schools do.

Bottom line for Michigan is Kurt Taylor will go up against the best high school competition Georgia has to offer (in addition to a clash with IMG Academy in Grayson on August 26) this 2016 football season, and it looks like he'll be in Ann Arbor by the spring of 2017.

Would be nice to see that IMG game televised to get an early football fix.  Does the new school have any other D1 players?  Though it's probably enough with just the IMG guys and Taylor to get on ESPN.

EDIT: the wonders of reading reveal multiple D1 players at the GA school as well, and a #2 national rank.  Almost certain to be on ESPN.

Grayson has been a powerhouse here in Georgia for the better part of the past decade now.  It was my hometown from 2001-2012.

The article mentions other D1 players from Grayson toward the bottom, but I'll list them here, too.

QB - Chase Brice (Clemson  commit)

CB - DeAngelo Gibbs (Georgia lean)

LB - Breon Dixon (Georgia commit)

CB - Jamyest Williams (undecided)

OT - Tony Gray (undecided)

The bottom four of those transferred in from other programs in Gwinnett County.  Gibbs and Dixon arrived from Peachtree Ridge, Williams from Archer and Gray from Central Gwinnett.

Can't get a read on the actual situation between Michigan & Kurt Taylor.  I have heard that the coaches did not want him to commit when he did, and that he was not a take up to that point.  But it seems as if hes hanging around.  He is a good guy, ive met him a couple times.  Hope he succeeds and suits up for M.  Good Southern Man.  Very strong handshake, uses sir and maam when talking to everybody.  Good Luck Kurt.  I hope the coaches dont ball him and pull another Erik Swenson type situation.

You do realize recruits read this site right?...so your unsubstantiated rumor-mongoring is nothing but detrimental to UM. If you want to go on record with a name, then share...otherwise your info is absolutely useless and most likely made-up.

I understand your logic and agree, you wouldn't think he would have much to lose...but inside information seems to be had quite frequently and in most cases wrong. Yes, if it is positive, then I get encouraged, but disseminating negative information while disclosing no concrete source on a peripheral blog doesn't do any good, nor prove that you actually have inside information...i.e. why share it unless you go all out...

Okay, so how many people with actual - especially negative - inside information say, "I was talking to Kurt Taylor's head coach, Larry Larryson [note: I made that name up], and he said X negative thing about Kurt Taylor?" Sam Webb doesn't share his sources. Steve Lorenz doesn't share his sources. Brian Cook doesn't.

Saying "Tell us your source or you're full of s***" is kind of ridiculous. And I don't know why people need to be so harsh rather than saying, "Are you willing to share your source?" or "Where did you hear this?"

Swenson was a different situation. The coaches asked him to come up to a camp for them and he didn't. And then he didn't show improvement throughout the year. Sure the situation could have been better handled, but there was a reason for it. From articles and videos, it doesn't seem like Taylor will have that problem. I'm real excited for him.

Work ethic was a problem with Swenson. Have you seen this guy? He's absolutely shredded. I can see him playing like Frank Gore, in a one-two punch with Kareem Walker. Kind of like Lendale White and Reggie Bush at SC, but minus the violations.

You sound uninformed. Swenson wasn't offered by this staff. The staff gave him clear goals and things they wanted to see from him if he was going to keep his status as a commit. Unfortunately for him he sat on his laurels, and didn't put forth the effort needed to impress Harbaugh and staff. His senior film was not good. A scholarship offer is a two way street. A kid can decommit, and a school can pull the offer. Simple as that.

Two different scenarios can have the same result: the coaches letting go of a player that was committed to the class. In the case of Taylor, he's just saying he hopes Taylor doesn't get pushed out bc the coaches offered too many players too early. Regardless of whether that's true or not, that's something we've had MULTIPLE threads about so let's not act like it wasn't a concern for many on here or that it's some unfathomable scenario.

The dude signed up for this website in October of 2013, and in almost three years, he has 89 MGoPoints. These types of people are generally not the ones who are trolling MGoBlog looking for street cred.

The crappy part about disseminating "inside information" on the internet is that if you say anything that can be construed negatively, people give you s*** about it, even if it's 100% accurate. UMich2016 says he met Taylor a couple times and has talked to a coach about the situation. What does a lurker have to gain by coming out of the woodwork to share some information about a mid-level recruit? There are people in this world who have interacted with recruits and/or people close to the situations, and they're not all named Sam Webb or Steve Lorenz.

It should not be dismissed so quickly. This guy joined before Kurt was anyone's recruit. I I doubt he is jumping out of the shadows now to provide some pretty harmless background noise. Everybody like's Kurts enthusiasm and love for Michigan. Imagine what was being said about small and slow 3 star Michael Hart.

I could be mixing him up with a similar username, but I think this guy also claimed to have met and had insider knowledge on a west coast recruit, maybe the QB/LB/FB whose name is escaping me. It seems unlikely that he met/talked to recruits on opposite coasts. If I'm wrong about that, I apologize but I've been in a shitty mood lately and can't take it out on my kids/wife/coworkers so I try to reserve it for people who annoy me on the Internet.

Maybe it's unlikely. Maybe he's in a unique situation where he knows people on multiple coasts. Maybe you're mixing him up with someone else. Maybe he's full of s***. I'm just saying that dismissing anyone and everyone who shares "inside information" isn't very conducive to getting people to actually share that information when it's real and accurate. If you step back and look at it objectively, I don't think this is a situation where the information should be immediately dismissed.

perhaps if he didn't say that he hopes the coaches don't pull an erik swensen, he wouldn't have been beaten down so much.  though the timing could have been better, swensen ignored various coaches' requests.  ultimately, he didn't make the gains the coaches wanted and was let go.  i don't have a heck of a lot of sympathy for a guy who thinks he knows better than his future boss/coach.

1. His point total has nothing to do with him possessing inside info or knowing someone that you don't Mr. Blogger guy. Unsurprisingly, more weak logic on your part. I mean hell, I'm in the red and I know more Michigan players, coaches, and actual football people in and outside the program than say, some shithead with a 2nd tier Michigan site who coaches for a (2nd tier at best) HS team that the one I coach for would embarrass. 2.A lot of people on this site miss out on real inside info because of guys like you, who because they have a lot of MGoPoints (lmao), think they know wtf theyre talking about and derive a sense of importance because of the points. Others assume you know what youre talking about as well, and actually listen to the stupidity you spew. And thus miss out. It's a vicious cycle. Lol

It's fun to unleash ad hominem attacks on the internet, isn't it?

Speaking of weak logic, I'm not making anyone "miss out on real inside info." And the only one who seems concerned about my MGoPoints is you.

I hope you're feeling better now.

I was told, for every 100,000 Mgo points you get a free Starbucks coffee and a gift certificate to Chipotle.

The whole situation here is pretty goofy. If a recruit is swayed on his decision by reading a comment on a blog he is too sensitive and wasn't much of a football player anyway. I understand this is the years people needing "safe places" to avoid harsh words and all that but, that's ridiculous. If the coaching staff didn't "want" him he wouldn't be commited right now. We learned last recruiting cycle that Michigan offers are as guarenteed as a verbal commitment.

This is great, I think this guy is underrated by the recruiting services. Hopefully he performs well at this higher level of competition, could definitely lead to him being a four star

This is a canny and ballsy move on his part. He's betting on himself, that he'll do better against better competition, and maybe earn a leg up on some snaps early in his college career. Good job young man! RBs - maybe more than any other position - can have absolute stars come out of nowhere.

I'm sure his coaches and teammates from his old school are really pissed...I would be. It gives the impression he thinks he's better than them.

Also, Kahlee Hamler from Orchard Lake St. Mary just transferred to IMG.
