From Nauta himself:

"Georgia, from the beginning, and when I made my decision, they were in my top four, but really they were in the top two," Nauta said last week. "They have always been at the top for me. Really the proximity to home plays in their favor. One thing about Georgia and Florida State is that they both have great tight end coaches in Coach John Lilly and Coach Tim Brewster. I love to be around both of those guys. So Georgia has atmosphere, closeness to my family and a great tight end coach as advantages."

Were we ever really in a position to get a commitment from him before he committed to FSU? It looks like he was planning on visiting UM this Fall, but recent events have seemed to indicate that getting a visit isn't as great of an inidcator as I previously thought.

Sam Webb worked with their southern recruiting guy (can't remember his name for the life of me) who predicted he was unlikely to end up at FSU.  That guy said that we have a very real shot but are hardly the favorites.

On a related note, this kid's film is head and shoulders above Upshur's, although I do not feel Upshur is by any means a bad prospect.  In a magical candy world you take Nauta over Upshur ten times out of ten.

Sam Webb has been out of the loop for the last six months and is quickly losing value as an insider.  Everyone else seems to be in agreement that Nuata is more or less done to Georgia and Upshur just canceled his announcement so he can go visit FSU again.  This is all bad for Michigan.

Hmm, well hopefully we can land Upshur. I think him and McKeon (who I believe will be an excellent player for us. Someone Harbaugh puts in the NFL) would be a great tandem in our tight end recruiting. If we land both of them and keep their commitments I would grade out are tight end recruiting as an A for 2016.
