2015 Stadium Introduction Video- Keep it or leave it?

Submitted by SBo on
Since its been a relatively lazy day on the board (after the AA game) I thought it'd be good to get a discussion going on this. For those of you who haven't had the privilege of attending a game this year, here it is:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tPSUar7KvTc I love this video. I remember Jon Falk saying it made him cry and that it was what Michigan was all about. During the Hoke era, these videos would change every year, sometimes even every game. I hated them. You don't need a "hype video" at Michigan Stadium. But this video made me realize that it can be done beautifully. Despite the outcome, watching this before the OSU game with 113,000 of my best friends gave me chills.

My opinion on a "hype video" before a game is this: if we can't have this one, we shouldn't have one at all. What do you guys think? Despite the greatness of this video I prefer that we don't have one.

I liked that they added updated highlights throughout the year.  They can keep Vader voiceover and the Deveon Smith run vs BYU.

I love the video and JEJ's voice is chilling and just money as it gives me goosebumps every time I have heard it. Keep the overall theme and voices and update video clips as appropriate.

We definitely need a video. And I'd be okay with something similar. And I liked the Hoke-era videos also. It adds An Enthusiasm to the pre-game celebrations -- which let's be honest: Michigan Stadium needs some enthusiasm for noon games and some 3:30 games.

I always kind of shake my head at how people clap like seals at that part.  We're a great school, but how about a little humility.  I bet opposing fans really roll their eyes at that.

Is 84 years old. We should have him in a recording studio 12 hours per day saying every word in the English language.

I'm not usually a big fan of "hype" anything, but the video shown before OSU was pretty sweet.

Keep it, but add some voiceovers from former players as something that changes. Brady, Woodson, Dierdorf, others.  Not too much, just enough to keep it fresh.

athletic side and academic side are inextricably linked although diametrically opposed...

But, you put the prowess of the two together, and I do believe UM is the greatest university.

My bias duly noted: I am a 2 time graduate and have lived 21 of my 45 years in or in close proximity to Ann Arbor.

In regards to the video, I thought it was chillingly awesome and made sure I was there early every time to see it.  How about this system we know well:  Open it up for competition to see if anyone can top it in content and magnetism.  If not, then keep it.

I say keep the video but work on the communication on when to start it. We should see the team in the locker room, the hype video, and just as the video ends the team should either be at the tunnel entrance waiting to run out OR we should see them walking from the locker room with Seven Nation playing.

This year they would start Seven Nation with the team still in the locker room and the crowd got pumped and then it died down as we just sat there waiting..

This. Everyone's eyes are on the video when the players are walking down the tunnel. It ends and they touch the banner. It happens instantly. Showing the video of them in the locker room after instead of before and then showing the team walking out with 7NA after the video would be perfect. Like a crescendo.
