After these last two basketball seasons Hopefully we can start grabbing 5 star basketball and football stars year in year out. I remember how excited the blog was when McGary committed.

If McGary goes pro this year, he may be the most loved flame-out that ever played at Michigan.  Not his fault at all, but in two years here, he has done almost nothing.  Had a few good games last tourney.

He exists as this weird recruit who at this point seemingly both lived up to, and fell way short of his hype coming in.

His play in the tournament, combined with his personality and the fact he was the first head to head match-up with the Dukes and UNC's of the world that Michigan had won in awhile all contribute I think.  Not just what he did but what, to a certain extent, he represented.

Plus you've got the McGary/Dakich bench celebration combo.

I think Michigan should only recruit 2-stars! You don't just not need 5-stars and 4-stars to be successful! We don't want them! They don't want it enough and that's the reason Michigan isn't good!

We want the kids that fly under the radar, have a chip on their shoulder, just want it more! We need to bring in some of those 2 star and UR type players that don't have any other offers besides SVSU and show these other teams what a Michigan Man really is! Sure, reach for the 3-star here or there. because MSU! RAH RAH GO GO THIS TEAM JUST NEEDS SOME FIGHT!

I was actually more intrigued by the projected distribution of spots. This may not hold in the end, and it might be just me, but it seems like we're starting to get back to a more balanced approach in terms of how many we may take at different positions - I would think that's a sign that the staff believes depth is becoming less of an issue, which is nice if true. From the article:

QB: 1

RB: 2

TE: 2

WR: 2

OL: 3

DE: 2

DT: 1

LB: 3

CB: 2

Safety: 1/2

that can rush the QB.  I'll even take a Mike Martin type at DT that can blow up running and pass plays.  Every team needs a disruptor on the D-line and we need a steady flow of those guys, not one and then a gap of years between.

I'd like to see Willie Henry make a jump, which I think he can do.  He dropped some weight and will likely be a starter, and I think he could be a real athlete an the interior of the DL.  i think he complements Pipkins well.  I'd also like to see Mone play about a dozen or so snaps a game.  He might not have the endurance to do more, but for short bursts he could be force.
