Somewhere around August 2013, Michigan angered the recruiting gods and there can no longer be good recruiting news. Only doom.
But seriously...its been like 6 months since there's been legit positive news on the recruiting front for Michigan. Sad times.

This guy does not agree...
January 22nd, 2014 at 5:06 PM ^
That was in May. Its January -- almost eight months later. So like I said, its been a really long time since there's been good recruiting news. Last thing I'd count as good news is Shaun Crawford committing in late August.

What about peppers staying and not taking other officials...that counts as good news right? I think that was sometime in November.

What seems more likely is that you were wrong and someone gave you an out. It's ok to be wrong.

And even if you want to count it, that's it. That's the entirety of the good recruiting news for five months and counting.
January 23rd, 2014 at 8:50 AM ^
Because you are forgetting about Erik Swenson.
January 23rd, 2014 at 12:06 AM ^
I mean if you asked your friend how things were going and he said "it's been good, my wife told me she's not going to sleep around and divorce me" that would cause you to raise an eyebrow, right?

he gets the most commitments before the season starts. There is normally a lull from September through January. The small class sizes for 2014 and 2015 makes it seem more quiet.

The 2014 recruits along the D-Line have some impact on 2015 DEs but not a ton. They seemingly had told Jashon Cornell he was the only one getting recruited but that already got scrapped; the logic probably is that they expected a 2014 DE and didn't get one so they'll want a couple in 2015. But I say standard procedure because KLS is a really good prospect and almost definitely would have gotten an offer anyway unless Cornell committed super early and they really did tell him he'd be the only DE in 2015 (which is doubtful).

we need to stop promising players that we won't recruit other players at there position (if we are, in fact, doing that). a good player should invite competition because it will help that player become even better. Iron sharpens iron and all that...

I am really excited for this young man and his family. Wherever he ends up (hopefully in a winged helmet!), I wish the best for him.
January 22nd, 2014 at 3:27 PM ^
Glad the offer was finally made.
January 22nd, 2014 at 3:28 PM ^
i didn't realize we hadn't offered already. i think that WDE is a little deeper in 2015 than 2014 and this kid still is a top 100 prospect. he really could be a cornerstone of the 2015 class if he commits.
January 22nd, 2014 at 3:29 PM ^
I'm curious as to why it has taken so long to offer?!
January 22nd, 2014 at 3:32 PM ^
Jashon Cornell was (and is) priority #1 at WDE, and they weren't sure they were going to take two, what with DaShawn Hand and Malik McDo... aw, hamburgers.

I certainly hope he commits and then decommits shortly thereafter!

you mean stalk?
January 22nd, 2014 at 4:20 PM ^
Michigan is leading the way in the hot new trend of anorexic recruiting. We get the commits and then spit them back out.
January 22nd, 2014 at 4:25 PM ^
Doesn't that make it bulimic rather than anorexic?
January 22nd, 2014 at 4:29 PM ^
between bulimic and anorexic.
The Michigan Difference.
January 22nd, 2014 at 7:02 PM ^
You're confused. The Michigan difference is being a self aggrandizing wind bag. They're close, though.
January 22nd, 2014 at 4:39 PM ^
Very true. But to be fair, our 2014 and 2015 recruiting classes are going to be a bit...thin.
January 22nd, 2014 at 7:00 PM ^
It would make him neither we would be considered someone with a chew and spit eating disorder which is its own disorder all together completely different from the other two major eating disorders

Then can we yell at him, and call him names?
January 22nd, 2014 at 3:33 PM ^
Well that's good news.
January 22nd, 2014 at 3:40 PM ^
Does he have a family member that played for Michigan? I noticed he is from California and to have Michigan as his dream school is pretty cool. Also, I don't really know much about him, but I like the pass rushing ability from his highlights. I would love for MIchigan to finally get some players who can put consistent pressure on the other teams quarterback. It has been far too long.
January 22nd, 2014 at 3:44 PM ^
I just want a pass rush..... sometime in the near future.
January 22nd, 2014 at 4:05 PM ^
and may be corners playing within the same zip code of recieverd pre snap

I have no faith in the decision making ability of a 16 year old anymore.
January 22nd, 2014 at 4:01 PM ^
Personally I was a great decision maker at 16. Except for that one time, oh and that other time, and that other other time...

most of this class arent really that young. look at some of the 247 pages it reports an age. Ricky town is reportedly a 17 yr 7month old. when i was that age I was a month away from having a high school diploma not finishing up my sophomore year of high school

Yeah, that's on the older side but not that old. I knew a lot of kids who turned 19 over the summer between HS and college, and that's what he'll do. I have a son who has a summer birthday like that and we're deciding whether to start him at 5 or 6.
